then on a separate page not to be read to the congregation was for elders to make discreet inquiries as to any who might have legal knowledge, experience or expertise.. well, in view of all this new kafluffle about branch closures, building work suspended, bethel layoffs, etc., it really makes me wonder now just what the heck is going on.

Understand this is huge.
good credit+equity+revenue= loans
If they have good credit and almost a billion in equity, anyone would want to loan them money. Think about the 1970s the Governing Body believed 1975 was the end. So they are sitting on some buildings which were purchased years ago for lets say 1 million dollars. They have the properties appraised and find there is 40 million in equity they could justify taking the loans to expand. After all, the end is here. They continue with the practice of borrowing against the equity every year to cover growth until something tragic like 2008 happens. They lose their cash flow and are faced with paying a huge note with compounding interest. There is a threshold were the loans become so big new loans are created to cover the old loans. With fees and interest this would become a down hill spiral very fast. In fact the debt becomes so huge with interest and fees one is left with two choices. Bankruptcy or sell off the assets and pay off the debts.
An experienced accountant could look at their holdings and predict with some accuracy when a collapse would happen. Imagine the narcissistic, arrogant, assholes looking at a spread sheet handed to them by one of their accounting firms and they say, "look brothers the end must be here there is no way Jehovah would let us fail" and according to the numbers we only have 15 years left. I could see this motivating them to not be fiscally responsible. They are true believers in their cause. It would only push them more to pontificate their false narrative. Their failing financial problems would only embolden them to do more and not react the way a fiscally responsible organization would.

If they went, to a bank and asked for loans for the buildings here's what a bank would say, "Absolutely." Are you kidding me? I would loan money on a building in good shape in that part of the world. It is better than cash. I would loan the money and hope the loan failed.
Think of how easy it would be to say brothers we need some money for this year how about we borrow 50 million against the buildings to help with the work. We still have a mortgage on the building, but we can use equity to advance the Kingdom Interest. Besides, Jehovah is behind us you know he won't let us be in need. A few of those actions later and they could have been in serious trouble. In theory they could be losing money in this sell if a lot of debt is attached to the loans. If one thinks God is behind every decision he or she makes, it could make for some ballsy decisions.

In various languages such as Latin, Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic, singular pronouns have been used. Now, we brothers know it is grammatically impossible to use a singular pronoun to represent more than one noun, but if we didn't use our super happified smarts from our average 8 grade school education, as we all know higher education is evil, we wouldn't be able to make our ecclesiology accurate. The only hope we have is you brothers and sisters are so stupid, I mean loyal, you won't even notice us raping the English Language. As you know, we are the Guardians of the Galaxy. Idiots. Of course the stage can hold 200 more lbs than it was designed to hold. You don't engineer stuff to be safe at a weight because it will magically fall apart if 1 excess pound is added. Take for instance heliports are rated for specific weights. We were working on a project on a vessel that had a heliport rated for 12,000lbs. The aircraft needed to haul a piece of equipment we needed on the project weighed more than 12,000 lbs. So we called the engineers who built the vessel and asked,"What could we do"? A very nice Dutch man told us that the rating on the heliport was for a 15 ft drop of up to 12,000 lbs. He told us we could get a one time waiver of 20,000 lbs just be sure the pilot didn't crash.
It is utterly amazing that someone would be impressed by this much less a room full of people. No wonder they don't want people educated.

I don't even know if you will ever read this or if you even know of this web page, but I am putting this out into the Universe just in case one day you look at it. Both our your testimonies, were powerful and moving.
I was physically abused at the hands of my Jehovah Witness father. I like to consider myself a brave person, but I do not know if I could have done what the two of you have. I wish I could give each of you a hug. Maybe one day you will read this and know that you may not have been properly loved inside the clutches of your religion, but you are loved by the ones who are former members of your faith.
