Yes, Yes, Yes!!! And my kids too. Thankfully we did since our state just reported 22K cases. At my local supermarket people were walking around in masks. No joke! So yes we are taking every precaution to prevent getting sick with it. I know the vaccine isn't 100% but I figure its best to gshoot as opposed to taking our chances.

Have YOU Had a SUPERNATURAL Experience?
by Cold Steel inregardless of your religious background, how many of you have had any type of a paranormal or supernatural experience, good or bad?.
i've known a number of people who have tried ouija boards.
most had just creepy feelings, but one had a nasty experience.

I believe it exists. Some people lie about it and others really do tell the truth. Personally I've never experienced anything supernatural but I know people who have and they don't do drugs, lol. I keep an open mind about it as opposed to saying "that shit ain't real". We just don't know!

Do JWs Really Still care about the "Truth"?
by XBEHERE ini often read posts on here citing some km school or wt article and the comment that "now they are tightening their grip" or "they will now go after faders" etc, etc.
my perception is that the vast majority of jws, including the elders, are suffering from apathy and fatigue.
most simply don't care anymore.

Emery is correct... Most "active witnesses" believe they know all the truth about the org and its doctrines but at the end of the day absolutely have no clue when it comes to specifics. It's pathetic!

Jehovah's Witnesses and Divorce
by Eustace ini really hate divorce.
it was my parents getting divorced that helped messed up my childhood.. part of why i came to conclude the jehovah's witnesses don't have the "spiritual paradise" they claim to is how many of their marriages end up in divorce.my parents i could dismiss as an exception to a general rule, but i could never understand how often it seemed to keep happening to lots of different people when the watchtower society teaches that divorce is wrong except in case of adultery.. but what really brought things home for me was this study by the pewforum on religion survey showing that even though jehovah's witness are less likely to be married than the general population, they're more likely to be divorced or separated.. http://religions.pewforum.org/.
they really have a nerve telling people in the jehovah's witnesses religion that they shouldn't have sex outside of marriage when they've done so little to protect jws who get married, and their children, from the extreme stress and conflict of divorce.. it's really messed up.. heck, even the catholics they're are always dumping on have a lower divorce/separation rate than the jws.. jw divorced/separated = 14%.

A friend I made within the org just told me that her and husband separated due to her "making some bad choices". I truly found it hard to believe since they seemed like "the perfect couple". She never talked about any issues they had. Married close to a decade, didn't have kids. I know he wanted kids but she was always saying how she wasn't ready to be a mom. Really at 30 yrs old, ok?! And it's not like her husband is her age... He is a decade older than her!
It seems to me they didn't discuss important things like children and goals for the future. I remember when I got pregnant with my first she would always say oh the paradise may be here in a few yrs so we'll have kids at that time. This was back in 2004! To me, it seemed they woud stay married forever so it's sad to see they are getting divorced but it goes to show the statistics are right.

Is God to blame for pedophilia?
by WTDeserter inwith all the waves made my pedophilia in the catholic church and the wts i did a small research to see what is written in the bible about the matter, and was surprised to see pedophilia is not in the thou shalt not list.. there are some verses that indirectly suggest not to do such a thing: and whosoever shall offend one of [these] little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
- mark 9:42.. but pedophilia is not clearly condemned!.
the bible clearly condemns (among others) sex between, man - man, woman - woman, man - beast, woman - beast, etc.

MsD
Pedophiles are disgusting individuals. Just because the Bible doesn't condemn it directly doesn't mean it's OK.

One experience in our old Kingdom Hall that still HAUNTS me
by Newly Enlightened inthe following is a true experience and my daughter gojira101 will verify that it happened to her.
an experience from our family's past that still haunts me and started my questioning whether this is the true organization of god or not.. my daughter, who has always been a good kid, never gave us any problems [she's an adult now] started regular pioneering.
within a few weeks of her starting, she fell on a steep hill and tore open her knee and had to have several stitches.

Such a terrible thing that happened. Happy for you that your family is out. I guarantee there are many out there who've suffered the same kind of abuse. So, so sad.

Are you now ashamed of how gullible you were as a JW?
by biometrics innow that you realise how idiotic some of the jw beliefs are/were, do you feel ashamed of how gullible you were to believe them?.
if anything my past as an adult jw makes me understand how easily manipulated people are by the people and environment around them.
and that even intelligent people can be influenced beyond what is rational..

I never got baptized but am disappointed in myself for continuing my studies. When I slowly started to learn hard facts about the organization I felt like an idiot being sucked into all the hype! My husband was smart he ceased studying 3 yrs prior and told me he wanted nothing to do with the cult. Now that we are on the same page about it all its easier to talk to him about. He of course has moved on where my feelings are still pretty fresh. I know it's going to take time to come to terms with it all but still it doesn't make it easier.

Homeschooling VS public/private schooling
by PSacramento ini was wondering on the views about homeschooling vs public/private scholling.. thoughts?.
-
MsD
I have a teaching degree and I would never home school my kids. I believe that they need to socialize, do activities I'm school. I cannot provide that for my kids out of my home. Of course there are parents out there that believe that home schooling is the best for their family. I would never argue my point across because what's good for one family may not be for another.
