but, they teach their followers that it's ok to lie if someone is not "entitled" to know the truth.. .

Lying isn't really lying IF it is done correctly.

Example: Elder comes to a brother and says, "We have a report that you have been out late at night, partying, getting drunk, smoking, and spending the night with women numerous times. Have you?"

Brother replies either, "I have." or, "I have?"

The second way, with a slight uptick could be used to deflect the question, while at the same time salving his conscience by not actually denying anything, if in fact he had been doing those things.

Easy....

Your Experience with Resigning as an Elder

i'm considering resigning as an elder.

i'm not planning to fade or stop as one of jehovah's witnesses, just stop serving as an elder.. i have responsibility in the congregation and in circuit, district, rbc, etc.

and i'm completely exhausted.

While I was not an elder, I was "reaching out" at a point in the past.

When I woke up to TTATT and decided that there was way to much nepotism and hypocrisy on the part of the majority of elders and ministerial servants in the congregation I wrote a several page letter detailing what the singular main incident was that opened my eyes. As part of that letter I informed the BOE that I would no longer be "reaching out". The following words are taken directly from my filed copy of that letter, and perhaps they will be of some measure of help.

"In view of this apparent ongoing situation, and in light of a number of personal observations voiced to me by some of the elders I find it necessary to respectfully request that I no longer be assigned, and inform you that I will not accept for the time being, any assignments customarily reserved for brothers only."

Since that time, while I still attend meetings for the sake of family members, I have quit having literal headaches, upset stomach, shakes, sweats etc. prior to and after meetings. It has been a wonderful benefit to my emotional and physical health to have quit running on the hamster wheel.

The blatant infomercial advertising jw.org. Speaker here stumbled over the "world wide web" phrase several times, finally just saying "www"... then singing the praises of the "wonderful" web site provided.

Memorial Musings

Exactly the same thing where I am. Evidently a pre-approved, cookie-cutter outline saying what they were told to say.

The only exception was the illustration. The guy here used car insurance. Because someone else wrecks their car, your rates along with everyone else's go up to a cost you can no longer afford. Along comes some rich person and says they will pay your rates for the rest of your life. Oh happy,happy, joy, joy!

Some of the comments I heard later at the post memorial party were:

1. I didn't understand some of the new talk. It was over my head, but I just let it go in one ear and out the other.

2. Brother ------ sure wasn't on his game tonight. He stumbled over a lot of the basics in the talk.

3. This memorial was sure different. What happened?

One of my personal memorial musings is that the 144,000 literal number will be tossed sooner or later. The "little flock" will be just the hand chosen appostles, the "other sheep" will be the annointed of an undetermined number, and the "great crowd" will be those believed to be earthly live forever's.

my never-a-jw mother was at the shops with my never-a-jw 5 year old niece today and saw some jws she's known loosely for years as they were friends of mine.

she'd even taught the teenaged girl among them.

Your account reminds me of what happened to me some fifteen years ago, or so.

I was at the time married to a woman who was not a jw. I was "marked" and actively shunned by most in the congregation. A particular eldurr seemed to take great pleasure in openly shunning me, unless my wife and her nine year old daughter were with me at a meeting. Then, and only then, he would make a big show of walking pompously from one side of the kingdom hall to the other, smile that Chesire cat smile, ask me, "How are you my brother?" and totally ignore my wife and daughter. Even if they would at first try to talk to him he would treat them like shit! It was so obvious my daughter asked me, "Why does that man HATE us so bad?"

Hypocrites is what they are!

Congregation Contributions

do you guys remember when the congregation's monthly contribution report was read out loud in the service meeting?

obviously, they don't do that anymore... does anyone here know why exactly they stopped reading the report publicly?.

If they're not doing it in your KH then the accountant is not doing his job but neither is the PO.

And that is the SOP (standard operatiing procedure) for nearly every congregations "appointed" men. Window washers and busboys are for the most part incompetents who cannot perform any task properly without another person telling them what to do, how to do it, and when to do it at every step of the way. They cannot form a complete thought, much less carry ot out on their own initiative.

i was out in my car this saturday as i went to visit my friend.. i saw the jws scattered about mooching down the streets.. i arrived home in a different area to where my friend lives.

as i opened my door there was an invitation to the mock the christ ritual.

a group of jws mooched past my house, looked at me rather lethargically and carried on mooching along.. considering they don't know i'm an 'apostate(tm)', they certainly were in no hurry to beg me to come to their mock the christ charade considering that if i don't go jar-hoover will lovingly murder me soon (subject to overlapping(tm) ).. i know we had 'the pioneer walk(tm)' back in the day but puh-leeeeeeeze!

I suppose it could be $7.00. But evidently (see what I did there?) the number two according to the WT&T$ means:

2 - Signifies solidly confirming a matter.

So $2.00 solidly confirms the need for the R&F to finance efforts to make sure those out door knocking are actually moving. In another soon to be released announcement the GB in their infinte love and concern for the elders taking the lead, are going to instruct the publishers to kindly fall down, as there is getting to be a significant burden on the elders being able to tell which publishers are just moving slowly, and those who have died.

Sorry for a slightly warped sense of humor y'all. But it keeps me sane.

This just in!

In a show of christian brotherly love the GB has decreed that all publishers must contribute $2.00 (US) per month per publisher to the WT&T$. This money will be lovingly provided to purchase giant bags of pre-popped popcorn for the use of publishers and pioneers while engaging in the field serve us. This arrangement will be of assistence in indicating the forward movement of these zealous kingdom proclaimers as they drop a kernal of popcorn every seven steps while shuffling along in the ever so important preaching work. Of course we understand the prophetic significance of SEVEN steps, seven meaning perfection. Brothers make sure to pick up an adequate supply of popcorn along with your magazines, books, and tracts after each meeting. Please be ASSured of our warm christian love.

think of a beautiful song, or a symphony.

Great advice. I no longer sing at the meetings, but it is fun to make up my own lyrics to the songs. Usually along the lines of threads I have read here. I also like to keep an open eye during prayers, just for the fun of it. And timing the prayers to see how long they run as the entire meetings agenda is repeated, counting the number of times the pray-er incants the name Jehovah or the term Father, or mentions "slave" or GB helps pass the time. Or the number of and-uh's, umm's, and so forth.
