I agree with Harner because the "God" people are not flexible to the possible meanings. And they don't understand the whole Bible and think that words matter.

John 5:27 and Harners thesis
by Blotty inconclusion to harners thesis: https://digilander.libero.it/domingo7/h7.jpg.
in 1973 a scholar by the name of philip b harner published an article in the journal of biblical literature that would be "revolutionary" he concluded that anarthorous predicate nouns preceeding the verb were primarily qualitative in nature.. in my view harner was correct, though he didn't agree with the "a god" rendering he also disliked the "god" rendering in john 1:1c providing an alternative which bibles like the net have paraphrased (to my knowledge).
one he didn't cover in his thesis was john 5:27 i would say this "authoratative" why?

JWs & Guilt Trips
by skeeter1 inthe watchtower is a manipulator.
one of the tools they use is guilt, and they use it via the "guilt trip.
" just so we are clear, a guilt trip is:.

In the 2023 RC, Symposium "With Patience Put Up with One Another in Love - Infirm or Elderly Family Members Speaker says "When we're a caregiver we might feel guilty. "
"As Jehovah's Witnesses we always want to do our best in Jehovah's service, but now because of all the extra work we are doing caring for family members, we're emotionally, mentally and physically spent and that doesn't leave us much time for the congregation or the ministry and that leads to feelings of guilt."
Doing our best in Jehovah's service is one thing, but when people feel guilty for missing meetings or ministry because they are helping others; they've learned too much guilt in their regular JW life. -

Why would he feel the need to redub the creation videos with his own narration?
That's just nuts.

JWs unrecognisable compared to my grandfathers time
by ExBethelitenowPIMA inmy grandfather who has been dead for 37 years would not recognise the borganisation today.
he would turn in his grave if he knew the end didn’t come by 2023.. back in the 1970s he really believed in the 75 thing.
he was so disappointed and almost blamed everyone else why the end didn’t come.

"(Acts 1:7) “It does not belong to you (the "anointed") to know the times or seasons that the Father has placed in his own jurisdiction."
No, he was not referring to the anointed. The "you" was the ones he was speaking to.
I don't like it when people take something that Jesus or the apostles say in their present and apply to the people of today.

"How Long Would Jesus' Reign Be?"
by BoogerMan insimple enough question for a jw to answer, because the org has told them for over 100 years that, .
a) jesus would reign for 1000 years, and.
b) that his reign began in 1914 when he became king.

Blondie, I'm surprised that the Society hasn't figured out the creative days. The creative days in Gen 1 are 24 hours long. However the time covered in creation within those creative days was millions of years. Like a TV episode is an hour long, but the time covered within that episode can be years. (Unless it is the show 24)

Remember how in 2020 they put cardboard cutouts of people in the stands in baseball and other sports.
They should do that at the assemblies so it looks like more are there and the seats are saved.
That's one way to save seats. Put cutouts of your family in the seats.

I'm not turned off from this site as much as the Reddit site.
There are just too many kids on there complaining about the meetings. They are the ones that need to be at the meetings.

The GB is not and has not been protecting sexual predators. There is no Ann Frank going on here where they are hidden in the attics of Kingdom Halls or homes.
2006,2012 the seriousness of viewing abhorrent forms of pornography is clearly emphasized???
So the non-abhorrent forms are ok?

"In John 20:25, the number of nails is not clear, but in all English Scriptures, including NW, there is a plural number of nails, so it is natural to think that the nails were done separately in both hands rather than gathering hands on pillars."
I think that it was a single pole with one hand placed on one side and a nail through it and the other hand placed on the other side with a nail through it, which is easier than one nail through both hands. Thus nails plural in his hands. That is easier than a cross beam as there has to be nails to go through that. They would want to conserve resources.
