  Pornography in the Marriage

  the magazine that they are studying in the congregation this month has an article at the back about how pornography in a marriage could damage the relationship.. there's one piece of advice that sounds rather scary, the wt suggests that the couple should "consider asking an elder with whom you are both comfortable to sit in and guide your discussions for a time.".

  how many of you would want an elder present in your home while you and your partner discussed your personal sexual cravings and the type of porn videos being watched?.

  How is pornography in the marriage any different than going to a restaurant to eat rather than having the wife's or husband's cooking? It is saying that someone else can do something better than the spouse, without the work, but yet there is no jealousy.

  My point was that this all began with Paul's writings. Paul's letters were the references that they could use to make rules, or suggestions. They want to be the pharisees to use whatever they can to elevate themselves.
  
  Paul gave good advice. He put 2 and 2 together and got 4 when it came to Jesus and his fulfillment of the stated prophecies and the unstated ones such as the Law and the temple. He had good intentions to keep the congregations separate from the people of the world. But yet he failed in that 100-150 years later the apostasy started and the teachings devolved to begin the Catholics. His letters were good for his day, but today things are different.

  I think that all of you would agree that the adherence to the Pauline letters as a rule is harmful. The 12/1/1972 W had a Question from Readers about oral sex.

  They reference Romans 1:18-27 and they state "In discussing sexual practices, the apostle provides us a principle that helps us to reach a right conclusion. He refers to “the natural use of the female,” which some were abandoning in favor of what is “contrary to nature,” thus satisfying “disgraceful sexual appetites” and “working what is obscene.” The apostle specifically deals with homosexual practices, condemning such. But the principle stated​—that the satisfying of sexual desires can be “natural” or can be “contrary to nature”—​applies just as well to the question under consideration.​"

  Then they say: "It is not our purpose to attempt to draw a precise line as to where what is “natural” ends and what is “unnatural” begins. But we believe that, by meditating on Bible principles, a Christian should at least be able to discern what is grossly unnatural"

  "What if certain married couples in the congregation in the past or even in recent times have engaged in practices such as those just described, not appreciating till now the gravity of the wrong? Then they can seek God’s forgiveness in prayer and prove their sincere repentance by desisting from such gross unnatural acts.
  

  It is certainly not the responsibility of elders or any others in a Christian congregation to search into the private lives of married couples. Nevertheless, if future cases of gross unnatural conduct, such as the practice of oral or anal copulation, are brought to their attention, the elders should act to try to correct the situation before further harm results, as they would do with any other serious wrong. Their concern is, of course, to try to help those who go astray and are ‘caught in the snare of the Devil.’"

  All of that because Paul used the word "physikos" translated Natural. Is it right that his letter can be taken in a context and culture that we don't know from a time long ago and applied today to where elders think they need to correct a couple?

  Anony Mous - I'm not apologizing for a group. I just don't think that people need to make untruthful statements against them for their point.

  Yes, I've come to the realization that the Pauline letters and the ones from the other apostles, should not be put on the level of prophets. They are no different than a letter from CT Russell or any other Christian commentator. The apostles are not the ones that stated the appointment of the FDS.

  Do you find it to be a problem that everything we believe about Christianity comes largely from Paul? So we are not Christians, but Paulites. Some belong to Paul, others belong to Apollos, etc. Come to realize that Paul was just an Israeli historian.

  3) 1 timothy 2:5 - for there is one god, and one mediator between god and men, a man, christ jesus.... wtbts: this is another example of not enough information being supplied by the apostle paul.

  he should have written, "for there is..one mediator between god and only 144,000 men...".

  the org's type/antitype of the exodus foreigners & the other sheep not being in the 2 covenants and not having jesus as their mediator is totally debunked by deuteronomy 29:10-15 & ezekiel 47:21-23. .

  Yes, Jesus is the corresponding ransom for all. But the ransom is not the same thing as the mediator.

  Moses was a mediator of the old covenant, between Jehovah and Israel.

  Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant between Jehovah and Spiritual Israel.

  Aaron was the priest offering the sacrifices that atone for all, Israelite and foreigner. And then there were the sacrifices.

  Jesus is the high priest offering the sacrifices for Spiritual Israel and the non-spiritual Israelites.

  Jesus is the sacrifice or ransom that atones for all.

  Well they still do. The book study it was said that Jehovah is offended if we watch violent movies and TV programs. That is so petty to group everything and everyone's motives into one little statement. And what makes us special to where he pays attention to anything that we do? We are not that important.

  Why do you or we care?

  And you referenced writings from Paul's letters. Those letters were meant for the people back then, not us. They are not to be used for our authority, if they were, they would have been issued as a decree by the apostles and older men as a whole and distributed to everyone.

  It has long been stated that Kingdom Hall events are open to the public and disfellowshipped people are the public and have the right to attend. Sounds like you are policing people's weddings. Let them be.
