Mikejw " am I correct in thinking that you believe the JW 1914 doctrine?"
Go back to page 5 and look at the graphic I posted. It is not the JW 1914 doctrine as it preceded JWs.

often flicking through watchtower bound volumes i would see pictures of eden which shows the snake in the tree of knowledge with legs??
even the photo drama of creation shows a snake with legs.. watchtower 1964 p.352 "genisis 3;14 {snake}on your belly you will go and dust you shall eat...before god curse it the snake had legs, that elivated it above the ground...god transformed it's body so that it ceased to have legs and was able to move on it's belly.".
god's eternal purpose 1974 "god did not put a curse on the whole serpent family...it had only been victimized by satan.. forrest gump watchtower science is price-less!.
Doesn't everyone know that it was a serpent and serpents have legs?
It was not a snake.
How is this even an issue?

So, Jeffro, If prophesies called for Jesus to be king, and he hadn't yet, then that was yet for the future of his time.
That was accomplished in 1914.
jw claim they are the true religion and they mention the love they have among themselves as proof.
i have been watching a youtube creator who had some thoughts on the subject, bringing out jw were not really christian, based upon their actions.
he made a pretty good case.
Carla, you don't understand what JWs believe about Jesus.
jhine, " they sold property and possessions to give to any who had need "
Yes, they did. Does that mean that we today have to do that?
Witnesses can do what they want as for charities.
so, i finally saw the annual meeting video part 2.. this is the one with the “new light” on who might survive armageddon, vs. those who do not.. in summary, for those of you fortunate enough not to have to sit through it, it’s something like this:.
old light: once the “great tribulation” starts, that’s it for non-jws.
the “door of the ark” is closed.
Stop with this new light on this, it is not new. Maybe new to the people that strictly keep to the fine details of the past, and I ask why are you doing that? But to those of us who have a broader view, it is not new.

To those of you who say that 1914 came from Russell or Barbour or William Miller. No, it was back in 1823 from Even-Tide by John Aquilla Brown. He used 604 - 1917, 3 years later but it is the same concept.
to all those on this forum, i would love to know what your take on this vital question is..
Vanderhoven "Since the Lamb was slain before the foundation of the world, He had to know before creating man"
That's not what that means.
It means that after the sin, Jehovah set a purpose for the redemption using his son.
The founding of the world was not before creation.

Helalapeno said "It's true that JWs have a lot of problems and their theology is demonstrably false. Not because they're JWs, but because they are Christian. Being wrong about how the universe works doesn't make JWs any less Christian than any other denomination."
Sorry, but the theology of JWs is correct. That is one thing that I'm thankful for ole CT Russell for, for setting the path to the truth.
Recently I've spent some time on Twitter and there are trinitarians, and ones who believe hellfire, and all Christians go to heaven, Calvinism such as predestination. And when I tell them how wrong they are, they mute me or block me or are rude.
They use the controversial scriptures and can't argue their beliefs.
But JWs understand the structure from beginning to end of how God and the kingdom and afterlife work.

Elderberry said "For a start there is no 2nd greater fulfilment of the 7 times prophecy. That was just about Nebuchadnezzar living like a beast for 7 years. William Miller made a stupid theory about it and JW went even further with Millers theory and made it even more stupid."
The fulfillment of the 7 times being around 1914 did not come from William Miller. It came back in the 1820s with John Brown and E B Elliott and Henry Clinton.
Also without the second fulfillment, how does Jesus become king? There are many prophecies stating that Jesus will become king. But he didn't. He lived and died and did not become king.
The kings in the line of David ended with Jehoiakim in 607, not the destruction of Jerusalem, and then the kingdom was paused for 2520 years. Without that pausing from Dan 4. There would be no basis for Jesus to become king and the events of Revelation to start.

"The 1914 doctrine is not sustainable , 607 is a made up year , it has to be eliminated."
On Twitter I was arguing with Trinitarians who say that John 8:58 was connected to ex 3:14. Then I understood, if there were that connection, then the apostles like Paul would have made that connection. But that connection was made centuries later so it is extrabiblical.
Here, 607 is correct for the beginning of the 7 times and 1914 is the end of them. It can't be eliminated as it is not a Watchtower originated doctrine. Would it have been something that the apostles would have connected? It came from Daniel. The apostles didn't mention the 70 weeks, but they knew it and looked to it.
There were many things that Paul was vague on and he didn't know because he didn't have the Revelation. But it does say in Daniel 12:9 "Go, Daniel, because the words are to be kept secret and sealed up until the time of the end."
Somethings were not meant to be understood until the end times.
