Why did Paul call Jesus, “the firstborn from the dead”?
by Doug Mason in"jesus christ was resurrected on nisan 16, 33 c.e., the day when the jewish high priest offered up the firstfruits of the barley harvest.
this fits in accurately with jesus' being the "firstfruits" in the resurrection of the human dead.

Ban on Independent Meetings
by lssjr insource - march 2021 announcements - - https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5085868283920384/2021-march-147-english-german-announcements-reminders.
this is a sobering reminder of what happened some 40 years ago when raymond franz and others were literally kicked out from the jehovah's witnesses for having pre-arranged private spiritual discussions.lesson: paragraph 7 is another example of the i and t in dr. steven hassan's bite model of the 21st century cult - information and thought control at its best!!!!
"my gosh, there must be a lot of independent meetings these days.

So what's the point of doing anything? I can download the Watchtowers, the KMs or CLAM material and read them and listen to public talks; if everything is scripted, what is there for us to contribute to those meetings?

Are Jehovah’s Witnesses Wrong Regarding Staying Out of Politics?
by minimus inwe were told we were part of the world if we got involved in politics.
if we had employment that had political involvement we were instructed to get another job.
we were told we might be considered disassociated if we voted and then it became questionable.

Rocketman said "It becomes a bit ironic and hypocritical when these groups (JWS) take money from these governments from established worked upon social assistance programs."
I don't know of any JW congregation or corporation that took money from the social program. However JW individuals accept money from the government because they are tax payers and the laws provide for it.

Jhine, There are many many religions deeply dabbling in politics. Mostly for the abortion issue. JWs don't believe the best way to prevent abortion is laws against it, but to have the person not want to do that by God's law.
Being neutral would be behind conscientious objecting, however others do it because they don't believe in killing or fighing. The Bible does not forbid killing or fighting, ancient Israel did it. But they did it in support of God's kingdom. JWs like ancient Israelites would do so to support God's kingdom, but not man's kingdom.

Minimus, i don't think that telling congresspeople that one is for or against a law violates any neutrality. That is part of how the government works. The government is represented by the people and they are the people too. Taxation without representation is not fair for all.

The Site is Going Down!!!
by BereanThinker7 inso i'm sure many of us here have used the site https://ad1914.com/, apparently the domain had expired.
this site was instrumental to my waking up.
i have been able to use it to direct others to as well since it had a large collection of matters dealing with the validity of the "gentile times" claim.

Phizzy,. It has been debunked from the angle of it starting at Jerusalem's destruction in 607. Which originated from Nelson Barbour moving the date of Jerusalem's destruction 20 years because that would just leave a 50 years captivity.
But the gentile times understanding preceded Barbour and Russell in that it was not based on Jerusalem's destruction but on the invasion in the time of 605-607. So they have been debunking from the wrong point of view.
Russell had a wrong belief, they attack Russell's belief only, but that does not declare the times of the Gentiles itself to be wrong.

Why Do Jehovah's Witnesses Dress Up For Meetings?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inlibrary.

Of all the things to complain about, the WT encouraging people to dress better and more sensible should not be one of them.

Here are the reasons for being politically neutral.
In the wars, Christians in German are not going to kill anyone from other countries, including their brothers and sisters in the faith and Christians in these other countries won't kill anyone else, including their brothers and sisters.
Politics divide. Can you imagine the elders or COs or DOs or GB talking politics and telling people for whom to vote and not vote? There would be divisions in the congregation and the organization. Being politically neutral (or at least silent about it) prevents any of that.

Stereotypes exist because there is a great percentage of a group being viewed as doing that.
JWs have the stereotype of being in pairs and standing in doors.
If stereotypes are considered bad, then stop doing those things.
I don't see what is bad about being the fastest mouse in all of Mexico.

My old congregation still have nothing to show for all their efforts.
by RULES & REGULATIONS inin the year 2000, our congregation decided to split into three separate congregations because of growth.
there were 186 members.

"They just exist now and keep afloat by JWs having children."
Except now with no meetings it will be hard for them to find mates.
