The snake of Genesis 3:1
by Halcon inwe've got some really knowledgeable members on here so i have a question for them and everybody.
what was the earliest adjective used to describe the snake of genesis 3:1?
currently one can read words in english translations like 'cunning' and 'crafty'....but in other languages you see words like 'wise' and astute...which convey a completely different idea.. i'm wondering what may have been the earliest and most accurate adjective known or used.

"Eve breaks the Mosaic Law, the Law against stealing"
There was no Mosaic Law at Eve.

My latest letter to the WT organization
by Kosonen inmay 14, 2024. hello brothers at the writing committee.
many brothers and sisters are wondering when will the end come?
we were supposed to live in the last days of the last days as brother lett told a couple of years ago.

That was a pointless letter. It was just ridiculing them.
"Brothers are wondering: Where is the proclamation of “Peace and Security”? "
There will be no proclamation of peace and security. You could have explained to them why. But you don't know.

40 Years Ago Today: May 15th 1984 "1914 Generation" issue was released. False prophecy, thy name is WatchTower.
by WingCommander init's incredible how this cover, and also this "series" of watchtower's is burned into my mind.
i was almost 5 years old when these were released.
“1914 and you” — may 1, 1984 watchtower.

Disgruntled fool, Those 1952, 59, 61 Watchtowers do not change what I said.
1914 is not a false prophesy.
It is not even of Russell. That preceded him.
To have a prophesy, there must be a prophet.
The problem is that you all don't understand the actual Bible prophesies and their application through time.

Chevelle, it was only false because you believed it to be false. Deut 18 does not apply.
1914 is true.

FYI, it is not a false prophesy because it was not a prophesy. IT was an interpretation of scripture.
That's why people proclaiming the rapture is not a false prophesy as that also is an interpretation of scripture. That is a misinterpretation of scripture.
1914 is a valid interpretation of scripture. You all are just disappointed because it didn't result in what you wanted it to be.

This is a no brainer
by oncebitten inthe insertion of jehovah into the nt is only understandable to me if there was an ot quote.
however by far the vast majority of the time this is not the case.
instead we see clear bias in the nwt.

Why is this even a question?
The apostles prayed to the same God that Jesus prayed to.
If you are implying that their saying "You, Lord, who know the hearts of all men," correlates to Jesus, then they are asking Jesus to help them decide. But they knew that Jesus prayed to his Father, Jehovah to direct his choosing of the apostles, so why would they do any different?

Memorial of Jesus' death
by Listener ini was listening to a youtube where a pastor relates his experience of attending a jw memorial.
he said something that was profound to me.. "how do you have a memorial for someone alive?".
they use this phrase all the time, even printing thousands and thousands of invitations to invite everyone to join them in doing this.. i googled that phrase to see what other christian church's use this phrase and was astounded to see that at least the first two pages of results are in relation to jw's only..

"could you provide a scripture where Jesus commanded that his death be observed"
You know the scriptures.
Luke 22:19 for one.
As for partaking. He said "Keep doing this in remembrance of me". The only ones who remember him are the disciples that heard him. That is none of us today. We don't partake because we don't have a memory of him. We know him by reading stories from a book. So to remember him, we reread the stories, not eat bread and drink wine.

How does the Govering Body get enlightenment?
by no-zombie infrom the earliest of times of the catholic church's ecumenical councils were used to make major changes to its doctrinal direction.
decisions were made by bishops, they were ratified by the pope ... and it was done.
and the laity had to accepted them or not.. and while splinter catholic religions accepted most of these councils, non-trinitarian faiths which developed latter (of which jehovah's witnesses are apart) did not.

The heavenly calling didn't end in 1935, that is when the focus of the preaching work was to gather the great crowd.
However it was clear that the 144,000 was filled by that time. The first resurrection started in 1918 after the heavens were cleansed.
Why does there need to be "scriptural reason to believe that the heavenly calling ended in 1935"? In Acts 10 was there scriptural reason to believe that the gentiles were to be let into the fold? No. An angel gave cornelius the message and also to Peter.
