i updated my sw and now cannot set reminders.

You still can, there a minor glitch where you have to set the appointment, save it, then "edit" and it will give you the option to set the reminder as you would in the past. Apple is supposed to fix it soon

Watchtower made money off Hurricane Katrina?
by Coded Logic inso i just heard from someone who was on the rbc that when they were working on homes after the hurricane before they could start work on a brother or sisters house the brother or sister had to first sign a form that the wtbts could collect all their insurance money.
and that since all the labor was free (and many of the brothers on the rbc provided construction materials our of their own pockets) that the wtbts actually made money off of the disaster.. has anyone seen or heard this before and is there anyway to confirm it?
it really sounds like something the wtbts would do.

I am sooo screwed
by Yondaime inso last night i was talking to my sister about how i admired president obama's speech to the u.n that happened earlier that day.. i then compared the extremism of isis to how much of a fanatic my jw bil is.. at the end of the statement , my mom walked in to the kitchen.
she was standing in the living room and she heard everything i said.. she called the elders that night to tell them what i said so they can counsel me.. i'm going to meet with them after the meeting on sunday!.
what do i do?!!!!!.

2) the elders most likely rolled their eyes and said 'there there sister worried! We will have a talk with sister yondaime and give her the needed direction. *hang up phone, back to ignoring stupid phone calls*
3) if you dont feel strong enough to lie (and you should by all means feel free to do so!) then simply nod and agree when they talk. They will think they did their job and you are still in no trouble. The only thing you could possibly say that would get you in hot water from the organization is to admit you dont think its the 'truth'. Short of that, its absolutly nothing. just smile and wave boys, smile and wave (madagascar referance).
Its a shame the cult does this, makes us sensor ourselves or lie and deceive but dont ever worry about the knagaroo court and dont ever give them power by admitting anything. You were venting about your BIL cause he was a jerk to you yesterday.... Or whatever. Its nothing. Sleep well ;)

Yes this is true and it started long before katrina/rita. I was involved in hurricane Andrew (Florida, USA (1992) ) and the policy of requesting that 'friends' "donate" the insurance payouts. Its roumoured to be as old as the RBC itself but I have never been able to confim or deny that

Minor Update to circuit accounting scam
by Justnowout inmany outside are now aware of the scam.... the brother announces a "deficit" at the assemblies.
what they dont announce is that the so called expenses include a predetermined donation to the branch.
meaning, the assembly hall is paid for so the basic expenses should be utilities, maybe some speaker expenses and a 52nd share of property taxes and the like.... however the "deficit" always seems to run into the thousands with "expenses incured" totaling 7-10k.

Interesting you should mention that, OTWO.
in the USA, every circuit has had an elder designated to asses every KH in the circuit and its relative need for replacment. The assesment includes dates of last remodels or rebuilds, age of structures associated with KH, age of hvac systems, age of sound and related av equipment, mean age of congregation pups, number of those serving and oh yea.... ablity to fincially support the current hall. Meaning how much are they donating.
