i popped into the supermarket for a few things after work today and found myself walking up an aisle alongside a couple who used to be in my tuesday group.
i see them reasonably often and always say hello much to their obvious annoyance.
i noticed that ian was sporting a shaggy beard.
The individual right to shun someone is entirely warranted. However, at least under european legislagion, it is a violation of law that an institution teaches, instigates, and forcefully imposes on its members the obligation to shun others for differences of belief, religious affiliation, ethnicity and sexual orientation.
There's a significant difference, which I'm sure you can appreciate.

having just come back from the uk and spoke with some witnesses to find out how my old congregation is doing, i realized i am now the age that my elders were when i was a kid.
and i wonder what the elders who are now in their 60s and 70s are thinking when they look in the mirror and an old face looks back at them.
many of the elders in my old hall are now retired.

1) The end is so near you can almost smell the paradise
2) Just live life each day - if the end comes, it comes. If not, I have the resurrection hope.
I always felt like those on #2:
Having known of past 'unfulfilled expectations' (back then I didn't dare calling them what they were - false prophecies) and also having in mind that Jesus said that no one could know when the end would come, I've always been less than overhyped thinking the end was nigh. That worked out in my favor, I was able to be less deluded.

i've noticed two things.. a) i can't sign out from my account.. b) when a new account was created, clicking the verification email link returns a http 500 server error.
since the verification of email hasn't been completed, can't log on with the new account.. simon, are you aware of this?.

Simon, I used a different computer to click on the confirmation link, and this time, it worked. Must be that cookie thing - i don't know how to eliminate it.

It's her younger sister, married with a uber-CO.
Sweet woman, but also shows signs of obsession with little details. And, like her husband, they live 24/7 within the Watchtower bubble. It's all about the Organization, the brethren, God's creation, the future paradise, the preaching work, the experiences ... soo very tiring, and quickly becomes annoying. Seems like they don't know how to have a conversation about anything non-'spiritual'. My son used to get sick every time we would go out for a meal with them. They pounded and pounded on him about pioneering, a career in Bethel, dangers of high education .... sheesh!
