The Great Harlot was 1st century Jerusalem
by maccauk11 inshe became the great harlot or revelation by the latter part of the 1st century.
the messiah warned them what would happen to them .
they had become drunk with pride and riding on the back of pagan nations.thereis no other harlot to come.

Revelation may well have been compiled into a single book towards the end of the 1st century, but there is plenty of evidence that the visions of John ocurred much earlier and the other apostolic writers were well aware of them much before 60 CE.
There is an estimation that Jerusalem had a resident population of 60.000 people by 66 CE.
Something else to consider: People have assumed that, by riding the beast, the Harlot is in control of the beast. But that isn't necessarily the case. It may also mean that is vicariously living on its back and the beast finally acts to get rid of the troublesome parasitic passenger. Her "kingdom" over the Kings of the earth isn't political, it's spiritual.

In my opinion, God caused life to come to existence, shaped its biological rules, and then allowed life to thrive on its own, with an unknown degree of direct intervention on some events = call it "design" or call it "driven evolution" if you will. When the first modern humans appeared on earth, I believe that they caused much interest in the heavenly realm. (see Proverbs 8:31) God decided he wanted to elevate this intelligent species to a new dignity. So he created the first man that he could correctly call his son - because it was a direct creation from Him. I don't think there is any reason to believe that Adam was any different than the others. He simply was "son of God", and the others weren't. While I have no basis to question the dates that science has produced regarding the age of the Homo Sapiens and/or civilization on Earth, I think that the chronology of the Bible may be plausible regarding the creation of Adam, that is circa 6.000 years ago. As for who we descend from, Adam and Eve or the "others", I don't think it's a relevant question since Adam and Eve's genetic footprint is probably untraceable, and their DNA is irrelevant for our salvation. "Sin" isn't some sort of genetically transmitted condition.

I don't share that view, Blondie. In another article on my website, I observe that the baptism vows as currently practiced among Jehovah's Witnesses don't even truly qualify as a baptism "in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit". We're Christians, but.... so are the others.

Because "Yahweh" is still the Father's name, after all. [or Jehovah, or Ieova, or Jeová, according to what language ....]

Need help on the subject of "Intolerance"
by EdenOne ini would like to locate some information within the publications with comments from the wts that could help me build a case.. case in point is: can an individual jw hold different views on doctrine from those held by the "organization" and still continue to be a jw if he chooses to, and if he keeps his opinions only to himself?.
i remember a recent magazine making comments regarding the intolerance of other religions who limit the freedom of their members to study the bible....or another one (publishers book?
) about those who harbored doubts about the course of events within the organization but remained inside.. i got an excellent quote from rutherford in the booklet "intolerance" but that was from 1936 already.

Adam, I think that's exactly the one I had in mind.
I may be facing ...hmmm....an ordeal soon, and some quotes to that effect may come handy.
