I am in a position of authority to determine that my opinions are indeed opinions of my own. Unfortunately, you don't seem to afford such autonomy. But we can always wait until a court or the WT leadership makes that determination for you. Now, enough of this nonsense and back to the OT please ....

Big time A. They are even thinking I am holding my wife and son captives of my A spell, as some elders still seem to be making efforts to lure my wife back in, and they are on the watch to see if my A spell contaminates other members of my family. I consider that a compliment :)

He exhibits all the signs of someone who is used to let others exercise authority to think, form opinions, and make decisions on his behalf. Sound soo familiar ....
Fisherman's Disclaimer: But of course, that is merely my opinion, not a court-verified fact. So take that with a grain of salt.

An internet forum, by definition, isn't a court room. It's an arena of opinions. Why would you have to even raise that question here? Makes no sense other than stir confusion.

Interesting. So my opinion isn't really my opinion unless it's a verifiable fact? In that case, I can hold the opinion that you're an idiot; it could be construed or interpreted that it would be an insult. But because it's not a verifiable fact (one can argue that there's no scientifically sound evidence for what constitutes an "idiot"; the etymology of the word suggests someone who has ideas, but there's no consensus as to its more colloquial use. Since it CAN be demonstrated that you have ideas - albeit bad ones - that effectively makes you an idiot). But that will not be my opinion because you will challenge the said fact, perhaps in court. In that case you would be of the opinion that my statement would be just an insult; but of course, that would be merely YOUR opinion, because, naturally I would challenge that as a matter of fact, and I doubt you could provide empirical evidence to the contrary that you're an idiot and that what I meant by my statement was simply stating anything other than the ethimological sense of the word. And in all this mess of fallacies, the courts will EVIDENTLY be very interested in my non-opinion and in your non-opinion. Capice, was it clear, or shall I draw it for you?

I have a friend who was abused by an Elder in South Africa for years as a teenage girl. Her father who was also an Elder, was aware of her accusations and nothing was done. The only "justice" she got was that the bastard was later killed in a car accident, but until today she suffers chronic depression from it.

Fisherman: What you have said above can be interpreted as or contrued to mean that WT is keeping a child abuser in a position of authority.
Would that be a first? The case against Gonzalo Campos, in San Diego, CA:
"Campos was a Jehovah’s Witness who sexually abused at least seven children in San Diego congregations in the ’80s and ’90s. During that time, Watchtower leaders knew Campos was abusing children but did not report him to law enforcement, according to testimony by congregation elders. Instead, they promoted him to the position of elder." - from KPBS http://www.kpbs.org/news/2016/dec/12/how-jehovahs-witnesses-leaders-hide-child-abuse-se/
"Can be interpreted or construed" ?? Are you effin kidding me? That IS exactly what I am saying. So sue me for having an informed opinion. Your WT apologetic BS and your "alternative facts" are wasted on me.

I pose no judgement except to say that her witness is absolutely consistent with thousands of other cases involving children abused in the context of the Jehovah's Witness religion and how the WT instructs the elders to deal with it. That being said, BEFORE she put it out in the open in a public forum, she should report the case to the judiciary authorities and seek legal counseling, because we are talking about serious criminal accusations against her father and serious signs of covering up by the WT. Her father appears to be one appaling case of a sick abuser narcissist invested and kept in an authority role by the WT.

June 2017 Watchtower - Jehovah's Sovereignty is at stake if you disagree with us
by Listener infour years ago the watchtower made the following demand.
all of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not.
they are not content with obedience and in the upcoming june watchtower they have this to say -15. how does respect for theocratic headship reveal our love for jehovah’s way of ruling?15 what is our response to divinely authorized headship?

Dear Doubtful1799, thank you so much for posting your story. I can relate with it on so many levels. Especially this frustration: I consider myself a mildly intelligent person. Why on earth it took me until I turned 40 to wake up and get out? Why couldn't I see the con and the deception before, when it's so clear now? I still bang my head on the wall for that.
This words of yours resonate deeply with me:
I now realised I had been conned. I had believed in a lie. And the implications were devastating to say the least. I cried for days. For my lost hope of everlasting life. For the harsh reality of my mortality. For the years I’d wasted knocking on doors spreading false and erroneous teachings instead of living up to my potential. For all the damage I had inadvertently done, even though my intentions were good. And for all the family and friends I would potentially lose, who I would be unable to rescue. [...] Don’t get me wrong, I have had a good life, but I could have done so much more with it if I had known the real truth. I could have been a real help to people, not just pseudo help.
^^THIS. My feelings exactly. I had an uneventful youth, never really got into any problem, was a "good witness", made progress, was well-known and cherished even by the top hats in Bethel in my country. Married "in the truth", did everything right (except engaging in full-time pioneer service, that somehow never appealed to me).
I got lucky, because after some dramatic turmoils, I managed to help my wife and son to leave the cult. We imagined we would be successful faders, but events regarding my son and military service had him disfellowshipped and me and wife da'd immediately after in formal protest. I am also lucky for my JW side of the family isn't shunning us; on my wife's side about half of the JW's aren't shunning us either. The other half, her sister included, shuns us. And yes, we have lost ALL of our JW friends. That has been the hardest part - rebuilding a network of friends and family with whom we may share common interests. It's been hard (harder for me than my wife, who is naturally a very sociable person; I tend to find it hard to cultivate friendships, as not many people share my set of interests, namely in music making ...), but we're rebuilding. It's getting better, slowly. The freedom is like nothing else: and yet, it's just NORMAL. It feels good to just be NORMAL and not a religious freak.
Welcome to this forum, and welcome to the rest of your life. I hope your example may inspire others to take the same stand for themselves.
