Should Jehovah`s Witnesses be worshiping Jehovah ? or Jesus.

jehovah`s christian witnesses , as they like to be known as , used to worship jesus in earlier times ,but now they do not worship jesus .

they worship a god named jehovah , who they admitted in the first edition of " aid to bible understanding " was not the correct pronunciation of the tetragrammaton `s four letter hebrew letters that represented god` name , by the way , a catholic monk of the 13th century came up with jehovah by just adding a couple of vowels.. to those four hebrew letters .which has since been revised to correctly translate the tetragrammaton as yhwh and many scholars put this name more accurately as yahweh or something more similar.. fact 1 .

the tetragrammaton does not appear in the " kingdom interlinear of christian greek scriptures " printed by the wtb&ts , a word for word translation of the greek scriptures.

Thank you for your reply. Also I am glad that you mentioned the J and Y point. Is English your first language and if so do you have any objection to pronouncing and spelling the following names with the J instead of the Y and with an I instead of a Y???

those names Jehoshua and Jehoshaphat start with a Y and not a J , as did Yesus instead of Jesus ,Hebrew not having a "J" sound .

On your above statement would you agree that the form of the word Yesus/Jesus was not found within the Hebrew scriptures but instead the form for that name found in them would have been Jehoshua/Yehoshua (long form) or Joshua/Yeshua (shorten form)???

And that when it comes to getting the form Yesus/Jesus it is based on translating Joshua/Yeshua into Greek which is Iesous and then translating Iesous into Latin which is Iesus and then translating Iesus into English which is Jesus…do you agree with all said thus far???

And apparently bending the Knee to Jesus is also an act of worship which now they refuse to do , yet the scriptures say is O.K.

YES, this is what the scriptures clearly say on that:

Philippians 2:10 so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground, 11 and every tongue should openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

There is no ducking your questions on my part but instead willing to adapt to your beliefs (for the sake of this discussion) that there is no God and the bible is not true, therefore if that is the case it should not be used as an example, but being that you are so adamant about including a God that you don’t believe exist and bible you think is fiction…then my answer is that being that you are referring to God here as he is real and exist and did give such commands, then my answer is YES, I would listen to whatever he says to do.

Keep in mind that while you are referring to God at this time (wherever you are going with your reasoning) as being real, then this same God that gave such commands is also the same one that gave those that are following his commands gave them their inherited conscience and one’s conscience could not be greater then the one who gave them it to begin with.

Also all that you are citing in your example when referring to something that is said to have happen in the bible, since you are using as if it is a true account , then the context of everything that you are referring to should be taking into consideration.

Example from an non biblical account…you might not go out and murder someone while committing some crime but you may be in the military and your government can call you up and send you to war and you would shoot and kill any that your government and commanders deem as enemies.

In that same military setting you may also capture and confine those that are deem fit to be even using then to work while in captivity.

I don’t know what you feel is embarrassing but what should be is your inability to stop referring to the bible while trying to produce your questions. If you do not believe in Jehovah God (nor in a God) and do not believe the bible is true, then asking if I would have been led by divine command is not an option for me based on following your beliefs.

Also there was no:

“god commanding his followers to commit genocide and infanticide and to take slaves from the nations and gives them permission to indulge in kidnap, forced marriage/rape”

:if the bible is fiction and there is no God.

The only questions to ask and answer being that there is no God and the bible is not true are:

If we are here by chance, just through the evolution process, where/how did we get an inner feeling (conscience) that stops us???

If it is by chance through the evolution process then who can really say what is right and wrong and how things should and should not be???

Why do you want to resort back to the bible if you don’t believe in it and for this sake I through it out the window…

If I am entertaining the thought of just by chance, just through the evolution process that we are here, then where do we get our sense of right and wrong and who determines it???

There are plenty of men that do not believe in the bible but think it is wrong to be sexual with another men…same with women. But yet those that are gay do not think it is wrong…so being that they are all here through the same just by chance, just through the evolution process…then who is correct to say it is wrong or not???

Apply the same to abortion, murder, suicide, adults having sex with minors, etc…name your evil(if there is evil who can say what is or not, if we are here by chance), who says what is wrong or not if we are only here just by chance through the evolution process???

Yes I went on to say that I believe that Jehovah is the one who instill such in us…but for this sake there is no Jehovah…so where/why did we get an inner feeling (conscience) that stops stops us??? I did answer your questions you just were not able to discern them. It is you that did not answer my above two.

Anyway to answer you, NO not just through a book is the basis for stopping oneself from such action (or others actions) it is an inner feeling (conscience) that stops it, a conscience that I believe is there based on being created in the image of Jehovah God. I believe that he is the one that determines what is right and wrong and has the right to do so.

If we are here by chance, just through the evolution process where did that conscience come from???

Imagine for the sake of discussion that there is no god. Why do you think it would still be wrong to abuse a child? Is it only your faith in an invisible deity and an Iron Age book that stops you being a child abuser?

You are making my point…let’s throw the bible out the window so that it is not the basis for refraining from such an action and the cause for feeling that it would be wrong.

Thanks, I’m clear now…but I was just wondering why we feel sad when we hear about child abuse cases???

I mean, are the feelings of love, sadness, anger, empathy, etc… and all of the MANY more human emotions…are they just part of the evolution process???

If so, then who is to say what is wrong and right??? Who determines that???

How can someone be set on saying that it is wrong to abuse a child, or kill a person, etc???

If the person/s that feel that it is wrong did they just by chance came to that complex form of thinking???

If so, what of those person/s that feel that it is not wrong???

Did they just not advance with the correct complex form of thinking in that area???

How do we know that at the present evolved state of man that everything that many think is wrong (bad and evil) is suppose to be that way???

Who is setting the standards???

How do we know that we are not fighting against the evolution process???

So basically some of mankind are God’s right…even if they did not create themselves and others (other then their own offspring) they can decide what is right and wrong for all???

Wow, who would of thought that today I would go from believing in the existence of one God, Jehovah to the fact that he is not real but instead the evolution process created the God's of mankind.

Many christians would read the word of God and think, NO - God is not among this people - he wouldnt allow such disturbing misleadings.
