  Kingdom Melodies Cassette #990

  alright, this is one of those what was your favourite questions:.

  when you were a witness (or even if youre still reluctantly attached like me), did you have a favourite kingdom melody (why couldnt they just be called hymns by the way)?.

  i remember thinking they were ok as a young child, but that was until i got to secondary school and heard the other kids singing proper hymns in assembly, while i had to stand outside.

  it's funny you mentioned this, kimberly, because i remember a drama about some brothers who wanted give the kingdom melodies a little rock appeal, and the strong counsel they recieved. i remember thinking, "this really diserves drama attention?"

  one song that will always bring the taste of bile into my mouth is, "move ahead". sooooo inspiring.-nate

  An update for y'all......

  having been an infrequent visitor at best over the past few weeks, thought i'd write and let you know how i'm doing.. first of all, let me say thank you to all of you who have written to make sure i'm ok.. i was hoping not to develop a pregnancy migraine, but i got it.

  i had it for almost a month with eden, and it's going on three weeks now.

  i have barely been able to keep up with work.

  glad to hear you are doing ok, lisa. the headaches must really suck. my little sister is pregnant with her first baby, and she's coming to visit in a couple of weeks. it's going to be so weird to see her pregnant-my baby sister!! hope your headaches go away soon!-nate

  how true, how true. it works out pretty nicely for the jws, doesn't it? people are so afraid to be alone in their way of thinking, that sometimes, you can get them to believe the craziest things. i'm glad i was never that gullibile, wait a second......

  Was It Too Much For My Dub In The Pub?

  i'm feeling a little disappointed with my jw pal, the dub in the pub.. we were having a good conversation over a few beers, and i actually got him to admit that he couldn't see the connection between the parable about the fds and the 144,000 any more than i could.. yes, yes, yes!

  your huevos in this situation have inspired me to reconsider having a similar conversation with a jw relative, englishman. i get worried about the idea of doing so sometimes, but maybe sometimes you just have to dive right in, if it is a reasonable person you are going to be talking to. dub in pub agreed with you until the last point, right? so giving one more opinion wasn't uncalled for. i think most jws just have a "scare point" where it is just a little to much for them. how are we to know where that point is? maybe dub will think more about your conversation, realize you were being reasonable, and want to talk to you about it again. what? it could happen.:)-nate

  with all the confrontation/negativity on the board these last few weeks, maybe we all need to sit back and have a drink, or a cup of tea or coffee, if alcohol's not for you.. seriously, i'm not trying to pretend that i haven't gotten caught up in the negativity at times, or trivialize important issues/feelings, but things haven't been as fun, lately.

  i've noticed a change even in the short time i've been posting.

  i didn't start this topic to point fingers or to act like my opinion is somehow special, but wouldn't it be nice for all of us to see an increase in civility?.

  making another trip to the liquor store......you people are cleaning me out.:)

  thanks so much for all the responses, and the good ideas on possible ways to keep the negativity down. thank you too, for the opinions-from both sides of the spectrum. i think that sometimes just addressing the issue can make a situation better. i, for one, was glad to find out that i was not the only one who thought that things have been a little different lately on the DB. i really love this board, and think highly of the posters, i'm just hoping to see the morale improve.

  it looks to me like there are ways to deal with everyone's opinions/preferences without a big hooplah.:) i'm looking forward to good debate/discussion in the future with all of you. one thing that it seems we all agree on from the responses, is that we all appreciate the diversity of the of the different views we encounter, and that this board wouldn't be the same without it.:) to diversity!!!!!-nate

  ooooo, they are so naughty! i bet at the end of the service day, some of the "rebels" counted 2 hours even though they only spent 1 hour and 50 minutes. if the c.o. finds out about this......

  TR-i missed your suggestion before, it definitely sounds good. that way there would be a place for those knock down drag out arguments when people wanted to get into them. i'm not trying to be unrealistic here folks, i understand that there is a time and a place for everything.-nate
