i just had a minor epiphany.
its a wonder it never dawned on me before, because it should have been so obvious.. we can forget about doing any more research or any more exegesis.

The Horse's Ass Award for May 2001
by seven006 inin every news group, discussion board and chat room there seems to be a few individuals that never seem to completely grasp the art of thinking.
their need to disrupt and irritate reach superstar status in the realm of stupidity.
the desire for attention and recognition though sophomoric post's and chat room spamming becomes as much a part of the entire internet experience as the valuable and useful contributions of others.

a bizarre decision!!!
by digderidoo inhi guys...i just wanted to share with you all something that happened over the weekend, that i found really weird.. on saturday i went to a cousins wedding.....we are quite a large extended family, not jw's(only my mom is a witness), so it was nice to be with the family on such special occasions.. throughout the evening i sat down with a cousins husband, who i hadn't seen for about two years.
we had a pint and he decided to get out a pack of cigars.
now these cigars were big fat ones (you know the cuban type)...he lit up.

dig-i think your actions were totally understandable. i smoke(yes i know it's stupid, prisca-like francoise, it's addiction i've been trying to cut loose) and my parents know that i smoke(they are jws). the thing is, smoking really bothers my parents, no matter who is doing it. because of that, i don't smoke in front of them, it's because i respect them, not because of jw ideals. when i am at a family function for an extended period, i still smoke, i just find a place to do it where i am not throwing it in their face. i think you were just being a thoughtful son, dig.-nate

Children should feel free to.....
by biblexaminer ini have one question to ask my local jw's, be they on the body, or be they higher up in the heirarchy.. it is this... .
watchtower literature tells me over and over again, that as a parent, i have to make my children feel that they can "freely speak" about whatever is troubling them.
the question is, at what age i should make them stop feeling this way, and help them to see the need to shut up, sit down, and quit rocking the boat.

great topic! along the same lines, many jw kids learn how not to get caught, instead of developing a conscience that they actually can feel good about. the reality is, teenagers are going to be teenagers, and while parents should try to impress upon their children the rules they want them to live by, guilt is not the best way to achieve this, imo. is the average teen really going to believe that speeding will make god angry at them? i think jw parents would have more luck differentiating between morality and "house rules", instead of blending the two together in a way most teens just won't buy. sorry to get off your topic, bexaminer, it got me thinking.-nate

Good Afternoon!
by VeniceIT inwell i know this isn't like my usual posts but bear with me.
i know there are blowups on this board, and i guess not everyone gets a long 100%, 100% of the time, but we all have a bond that keeps bringing us back--pain.
we here have all suffered at the hands a merciless cult, and i know many have sufferd more then the rest of us can ever comprehend.. i miss my family and friends, somedays it's almost more then i can bear, but get by.

those were really nice thoughts, venice. i know what those sad days are like. even when things are going good, sometimes something happens that brings you right back down. you sound like you are staying positive, though, and that is commendable. hope you have a nice evening.-nate:)

WHY ALAN FRAUDBACKER IS DOOMED!
by You Know infor some reason i can't post on the original topic about the fds on why the watchtower is doomed thread.
so i just started a new post.
as regards af's long-winded post on that thread, it is obvious to me that you don't know what you are talking about, and that you are merely trying to obfuscate the issue with this enormously long post.

yadirf-i've been reading your posts and i'm really amazed. i've encountered men(boys, really) like you many times out in the real world, the type of person who only talks big when they have a bunch of friends around to back them up. is the computer your "bunch of friends"? i would say probably so. you are what is commonly refered to as a "shit-talker"(sorry, simon). i would bet that you would never have the huevos to speak to another man in the way that you have spoken to many on this thread in a face-to-face situation. calling wasa hormonal for speaking her mind was weak, plain and simple. picking on my best friend riz is not the brightest thing you could do, i hope for your sake that we never meet in person. lets just say i don't quite have a "soft spot" for spineless little men like yourself. are you trying to make yourself appear very small? you are doing well. -nate

The Rainbow as a sign to Noah
by Simon ini don't know if this has ever been brought out - i just thought of it:.
the bible tells us that it rained for forty days and forty nights.. it stopped raining and noah & co floated around for a bit.. when they landed, noah sacrificed some of the animals (weren't they in short supply?
) and god promised never to bring a deluge upon then earth again.. to back this up, there was a rainbow in the sky as a sign.. now, what causes a rainbow?

simon, interesting thought! one point i had not thought of before was the what you said about the sacrifices and the animals being in short supply. doesn't really mesh, does it? if there were only enough of each species to start breeding up again, surely there weren't enough to sacrifice. hmmmmm. i can't believe i missed that before, thanks for starting my wheels turning again on this one.-nate
