  hi, trixie, i haven't been on for awhile, so i just now found your response. i'm glad to hear from someone from my old stompin grounds. it would be cool to see if we had any mutual friends, so i'll check back to see if you respond. i should be on the board a little more often again. -nate

  Why Do They Bother?

  on another thread, i was struck with a thought.

  someone mentioned how brainwashed the r&f were to accept the drivel pumped out of bethel and it suddenly dawned on me that the 'tower and the awake!

  and all the other literature are irrelevant.

  why do they bother? one reason, the money. they need all those
  'donations" to keep the org. going. also, the mags are written more as defenses to attacks than anything else, imo. as in the case of a recent article on the real identity of the antichrist. knowing of all the questions ex-jws and jws alike are having right now and no doubt also being aware of the upcoming dateline that will put the spotlight on them, this article explained that basically anyone who says anything bad about the org. is an antichrist. what a convenient way to discredit so many legitimate victims as well as those who help them. they should be called the Watchowe'resavingourasses and the Awaytomindcontrol magazines.-nate

  Precious Things

  i was feeling very low today as i realised it is now nearly six years since my wonderful father passed away.

  he was only 42 and meant so much to me, i still think about him every day, and it still hurts so much that i cant just pick up the phone and talk to him, pop over to his house with cream cakes or just sit down by the sea and talk over my problems with him.. the jws are responsible for making my grief just that little bit worse, when i was studying with them they told me to get rid of anything in the house that would be displeasing to god, in my desire to do what was required of me i searched through the house, got rid of some bible literature and some other little odds and ends.... also my cruxifix.

  i now regret that so much, it was one of the only things that my father ever gave to me just from him, not from my mother also.. how i regret that now, if only i could turn the clock back and stop myself, i was so eager to do what i was told, to make sure i was in a good standing with god.

  sorry for your loss, iw. the elders definitely delve into other's private feelings and lives way to much when it comes these types of situations. at least you can be happy that you won't let them hurt you that way again.-nate

  hi from a newbie!

  hi everyone, i have been "lurking" for a week or so and thought i'd join the fun.

  i am a third generation jw who was determined not to make my kids the fourth!

  my husband and i left almost five years ago and have never looked back and as a result have never been happier.. just a quick summary of the past thirteen years.... i never went to college (never even considered it) and was married two weeks after graduating from high school.

  princess-welcome! i have enjoyed your mother's posts, looking forward to yours. my wife and i are also much happier OUTSIDE the WT, i have to say, though, i'm jealous that you have a mother who is out and free.:) i wish my parents could see reality, we could be so much closer. maybe they will wake up yet! cheers-nate

  Hi everyone....

  as i sit in front of my computer in a drunken stupor wondering what might have been, i felt i had to post my story to those who might truly understand what i am going through.. i am a newbie here, but have been lurking around for the last few weeks.

  i am 25 years old, from ontario, and totally heartbroken.. to give you some background, back in 1998, i studied with the witnesses because some friends of mine, whom i believe to be honest and sincere people, gave me (i thought at the time) some good advice to start a book study.

  i did, and i really enjoyed it because i felt they presented everything factually and had a strong interpretation of the scriptures (i'm a facts man, you see).

  jeremy-i remember the pain of my jw-influenced first marriage. it took a awhile to get over the breakup, but we are all tougher than we imagine when we have to be. i raise my glass to you and your efforts to put this behind you. hope things start getting better soon, and welcome to the board.-nate

  SILENTLAMBS CONVENTION SIGNS!!!

  ) its 3x 4. it was done at fast signs which is a nationwide chain, (sign-a-rama or any other sign company can make these for you).

  hey venice! the signs are great. i've been absent from the board again, my grandmother of 93 passed away last week, and i had too much going on to get online. i would love to post some signs in my community. it seems so sick to me that most dubs will see silentlambs as apostate, instead of trying to help the victims.-nate

  i just got home from a dinner sponsored by the senior citizens counsel, an organization funded by the taxes of our city and county.

  they have many programs to benefit the senior people in our area.

  i hate to admit it but i qualify.
