i had not been visiting the board for some time until just recently, so a lot of you don't even know me, but i wanted to announce that my wife and i are having a baby. we just found out not too long ago. today, though, was amazing! we had our first ultrasound. this is our first child, and to see it actually moving even though it is so tiny, well, i just can't describe it. i am so stoked! it made it so much more real than it already was. our due date is august 23rd...wow, i still can't get over it! anyway, hope all of you are happy and well, i myself couldn't be happier this evening. - nate

Anyone care to write a #2 talk?
by mindfield inyup, you heard me!
if you are interested in writing a 5 min.
long talk, including about 3min.

that's a tempting offer, mind. i haven't been able to mess with dubs in a while. i'm just afraid that having to write a talk again would bring back memories that would make me puke. - nate

Where were you when you first came here?
by Xena ini noticed in a couple of threads people discussing the impact this board would have on jw's with doubts coming here and reading the messages.
it got me to wondering where most people that post here were at...what stage in their jw/ex jw process...when they started reading and/or posting here.
also curious, when you did come here what was your main focus?

i had already been out of the borg for some time when riz told me about this site. i came mostly to find a community of people who understand what it is like to leave the WT.

Hi! Anyone remember me?

:) haven't looked at the new posts much yet.
i'm guessing things haven't changed much, though.

hi sunchild, i haven't been around for a long time either. your story reminds me of how i ultimately got DF'd. no meetings for 3 or 4 years, told people i wasn't a witness, was confronted about it by an elder, asked to write DA letter, wrote DA letter, and was DF'd anyway. sometimes jws can be so cool. i have to laugh! -nate

QUESTION: What religion are you in now? ...
by terafera inthis got me to thinking.... now that most of us have left the wts, i notice some have taken other belief systems.
some have come to a peace with their own ideas.. my question is are you involved with another religion?
has it brought you more peace or happiness?

i am pretty much sickened by "christian" religions now. i don't see myself ever being envolved with any organized religion again. i find a lot of peace of mind from some of the eastern beliefs others have mentioned, but at heart, i'm a pagan. i revere the earth. of all beliefs, i identify with the druid culture of my distant ancestors the most. i am glad that the bad experiences i had with the WT pushed me to find my own roots.

JWs & DF'd ones doing business together
by roybatty ini recall reading a wt article from the 1980s regarding how dfd and dad ones should be treated.
a portion of this article dealt with having business dealings with someone who is dfd.
if i remember correctly, the society encouraged the reader to, if possible, get out of any type of business partnership with someone who is dfd and not to have any business dealings with these ones.

i think that aq lot depends on what type of person the witness you are dealing with is. there are quite a few jws that that don't buy into 100% of the b.s. i am DF'd and i have jw working for me who knew me when i was a jw. he is in his late teens and baptized and the elders have told him it would be better if he quit working for me. he told them it wasn't any of their business who he worked for and that he works for me because he likes the job and thinks i am a good person. they have not pursued the matter. - nate

Ray Franz wrote back!
by hungry4life inmy friend just called.
she is very excited she just received a reply to her letter to ray franz.
she said that it is about six pages long and not a form letter but a personal correspondance regarding the issues and concerns she had written him about.

hungry4life - it was nice to hear your experience and another person's testimony that ray franz is a genuine, caring person. when i read COC that was the impression i got, but it's cool to know that it is true. it's refreshing that he hasn't been soured by getting the short end of the stick.
