  This is the secret to JW survival. It kept me out of any and all trouble for all the years I was a Witness™. No matter what, I was "loyal to the society™". When I started to see the watchtower saying silly stuff (like "those with doubts should get a hobby" watchtower circa 1984) that was it for me. That and the canning of Olaf Johnson followed by the revelations about governing body decision making following Ray Franz leaving.

  My wife later called me a dickhead for being "loyal to the sdociety". lol

  How do you deal with JW's knowing they will shun you?

  i went to the grocery store yesterday, and i saw a jw who was looking at me with a sort of sad face.

  i said hello, and he didn't reply.

  so why does he stare at me for if he knows he won't reply to me when i say hello?

  I walked away.The current policy seems to promote a standoff. If I don't 'cause trouble' with their flock they, won't 'cause trouble' with me. I was never much good at convincing people to join the cult and I'm not much good at getting them out.

  Loud and proud works well. I'm a pretty quiet guy in real life but I can crank it up. JWs expect us to get about looking sad and glum so do the opposite .. smile be happy and polite. We're so lucky they don't expect us to be happy then we'd have to pretend we're sad to prove them wrong.

  As it is, all we have to do to 'plant seeds' is be happy. When I went back to Adelaide last November and met a lot of old JW friends, Elders etc.. it was obvious that they didn't know what to expect. My beard said I was no longer one of them but my manner was friendly .. we laughed and told old stories and stired each other just like old times. One Elder got a bit carried away and invited me to dinner at his place (the look on his wifes face was priceless.) A few swear worsds slipped out in conversation with my brother in law but he's cool enough for a jehovah's retard.

  I've found that my old JW friends don't mind me being out - they prefer that to people who are neither in nor out. At least with me they can say what they like (tell bawdy jokes and talk a bit rough even lol).

  I imagine that if a JW snubbed me at a supermarket I'd give them a big cheery wave .. but in reality I'd probably feel too sad .. JW is a small town religion.

  Yes it's a mildly interesting piece of verbal diarrhea. Nothing to get too excited about though. As ranting raving lunatics go it's ditibribe is practically sane.

  This has been discussed here at length in at least one other thread. It sounds like a combination of several posters I have known

  I'd caution about being too gung ho with the "Blow the Tower Down" talk. As much as I agree with the sentiment, there are sons and daughters of our fellow posters working in those buildings. I once upset a Californian I care about with talk of blowing the place up.

  this was on a page i found that had pictures of different religious groups doing different things in the community and this is the picture they had for jehovah's witnesses!!

  the page was called "religious diversity in southern mississippi".

  i just know he would rather be out playing football!

  I've been to 1 United State - Hawaii

  And all Australian States and Territories bar Antarctica and all New Zealand States and Territories bar Antarctica.

  If I had my time again I'd settle on the coast of Papua, where the people are friendly and the sea is full of fish.

  I'd love to see Texas and the North West; Oregon, Washington, Montana and the North East. The Texans that post are pretty amazing lol.

  Sorry is just a polite figure of speech .. like "sorry I jusy ran over your bicycle" or "sorry but I think you're an arsehole" or "sorry I'm going to kill you with this house brick". The "sorry"is just a polite way of saying "excuse me".

  At first I was peeved at the writters blatant theft and unscholarly work. Now though I see the value it has had in raising questions hid and repressed by the dominant patriarchal hierachy that has dominated the masses for so long.

  Saying it is "just fiction" is like saying Marylin was "just an actress". It's wonderful that at last the offical history of the western Christian Church is being questioned. The truth is out there .. in the study of history.
