  You Say I've Inherited What???

  i get a phone call last friday telling me there was a note pinned to the door of my old house (deserted and up for sale) saying to contact this person asap because i am an heir to something or other.. eventually, i get around to it this morning; i make the call.. it seems xto energy corporation is looking for me because i'm an heir to my great grandmother's mineral rights to a 4 acre strip of land in burleson texas.

  the land is wanted for drilling purposes by the oil and gas drilling exploration team.. i met with the agent this morning.

  he showed me my great grandmother's obituary and his copy of the family tree.

  Pasties are big in my home state (SA) due to an influx of Cornish miners to mine copper in the mid 1800's. The miners wives made them using the leftovers of last evenings meal.

  I love pea & ham soup though. Ham bones were the cheapest when I was a kid so winter saw a big pot of pea & ham soup brewing on the stove Then in the mid 80's knuckle bones got really expensive for some reason.

  Captain Thunderbolt's Homemade Pasties Ingredients: 3 cups flour 1 cup suet, ground fine 1/4 cup lard 1 teaspoon salt 6-7 tablespoons cold water 1 1/2 pounds diced or cubed beef/lamb/chicken or pork. 5-6 medium-sized potatoes 3 carrots 1 turnip 1 onion Butter Parsley Construction: Blend lard into flour. Add suet, salt then cold water. Roll dough out. Add a handfull of chopped carrots, potatoes, turnips, parsley, onion and cubes of meat (or just some of last nights leftovers). season with salt and pepper. . Fold dough over, crimping the edges. Slit the top, and place on a greased sheet. Bake in a hot oven (400F degrees) for one hour, or until the crust is golden brown (if using a camp oven an awesome mouth watering arouma will fill the air just before they burn!

  The Tribal Nature of Jehovah's Witnesses

  it seems to me a common misconception amongst ex- jehovahs witnesses is that there will one day be an issue arises so big that it will pull the rug from under the watchtower bible and tract society bringing the whole edifice crumbling down.

  revelations come and go, apostates jump from one hope to another.

  expose after expose fail to cause more than a ripple on the tranquil jw pond.

  Thanks for your imput folks,

  I know there is much more to the tribalism of JW's than the generalisations I made above (re: recruitment and disfellowshiping). Indoctrination by repetition, information control, loading the language, numerous personal fears and keeping the sheep busy all play a role in locking people in but at the same time our fight is with people who simply don't want to change. I think the big thing we can take heart in is the way the internet has exposed the truth about the truth to anyone curious about it from householder to diehard dub.

  does anyone who was raised a jw and is now df'd of da'd celebrate all the holidays?

  i do, and for the first time in my entire life i'm actually having a blast and so are my children.

  at least my youngest child doesn't have to suffer the segregation all jw children surrender to due to the freakin' mind controlling gb and all there so called "god channeled" rules..
