Early on someone mentioned Elders not having the time to spy with all the meeting prep etc.. Well, a lot of them are retired from work and have all the time in the world for such stuff. In fact, being into power, and meeting prep taking little more than an hour/week for those trained in the art, it's about all they have time for. I've seen quite a few Elders actively involved in spying on members of their congregations, often using their children or sycophant Ministerial Servants and the like to do the footwork and report back.
In Sydney, a friend of mine chased one such creep and threatened to give him a thumping if he didn't stop surveiling his house (a bit like the scene in Burn After Reading). lol.

Question for our scholars...
by tenyearsafter ini was asked an interesting question by a jw relative and was not exactly sure how to answer it...thought i would throw it out to the scholars on the board:.
what was the expectation of an afterlife for faithful ones living before jesus was sacrificed?...did they believe they would have an afterlife on earth or in heaven?.

but the bible does not say that he was among those who died in the flood.. according to bible mathmatics, adam was alive when methuselah was born making methuselah the only human link between adam and noah.. so what happened to poor old methuselah?
did jehovah, out of respect, wait till the old boy carked it before having it piss down on the rest of humanity?

I remember many variants of dub reasoning on this. One being that Jehovah had set a 1,000 year limit on the lifesppan of post Edenic people. So what would be the point of Methuselah living through the flood only to die within 30 years of landing on Mt Ararat (I'd have thought the old boy woulda got a kick out of the ride myself).
OK so when did the old fellow find out his ticket was cancelled? When he was in his early 800's or at the last decade?

Noah and the ark is such a great childrens story!
You can easily find books, pictures, stuffed animals and bath toys depicting noah and the animals.
Can you imagine a 3 year old playing in her bath with all those cute animals in a floating ark!
All she has to do is use a little imagination to picture all the dead and bloated bodies of humans and other animals floating among the bubbles!
What fun!
Oh yes - wonderful fun ... let's play Jehovah .... she could drown all her dollies and fluffy animal toys .. add some tomato ketchup for blood and smash barby against the side of the bath ... little baby dolls crying then floating upside down .. lovely.

I wasn't talking about recent times. No large sea mamals have been able to go past the locks of the lower Murray since they were constructed around fifty years ago. I was refering to old and ancient times. The koories record dolphins thousands of miles inland, well out of reach of the tidal zone as do the early explorers of inland Australia. Animals are more adaptable than people generally think
