  Non-Trias, I had to make a comment about what you said about tacking. I don't want to beat you up, but just make you realize that that is a wrong way to look at it.
  When people go sailing, they rely on the wind to give the boat speed and momentum, and they do this by what is called 'tacking'. They move the sail to the other side of the ship to catch the wind, and then when they turn, they move it again, always trying to get the best breeze in their sail. What the WT does in their flip flopping doctrine is not tacking, it is zigzagging. Imagine a boat not prgressing through the wind and gaining momnetum, but rather going back and forth over the same stretch of sea and gaining no ground. This is how it is with the WT. The light is not growing brighter, it is blinking on and off.The Bible is the Word of God and never changes. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. The teachings of men, however, will sprout up like the grass of the field which is here today and gone tomorrow. Do not follow the teachings of men. Trust in Jesus.

  The second death is everlasting destruction. You might say that you are dead to God, but I believe it to be rather in the sense that the first death was spiritual and physical (Adam died physically,but also spiritually because his relationship to God was dead because of sin), and the second death is that of no return, no more hope for the person to respond to God's lifeline that He offers to people through Christ.

  I have been meeting with a witness every week and we have pretty much avoided this topic although touched on it briefly. It occurs to me that there are too many scriptures that wouldnt make sense if we were just destroyed. Jesus said about Judas 'It would have been better for him if he were never born'. WHY? If Jehovah is just going to put him to sleep for all eternity, who cares what you do in this life?! Also, in Revelation it speaks of the wicked having no rest day or night. Well, it seems to be that annihilation is rest. Are they going to be wishing they were alive? NO, they're dead right?

  my assault on 2 local kingdumb halls

  last night i printed out an announcement about the nbc dateline show, and a silentlambs tri-fold flyer off the website.. armed with these flyers, my motorcyle .

  i went on my "mission" this morning, to hit as many windshields in the local lincoln, rhode island, and pawtucket, rhode island parking lot as possible.. i managed to hit about 20, before i noticed one of the elders driving up, i was on the street at this point, and i recognized him, and he kept taking double takes at me.

  (it was norman barone, for those of you locals who might know him.

  I need help/info on other religions vs the WTS

  over the past week since i've announced that i was stepping down i have had a few conversations with my family, and against my better judgement i mentioned that i was having doubts.

  invariably almost every discussion about the jw religion eventually boils down to the argument that only witnesses are doing this or that.

  unfortunately this is a weak part of my debate, i have only been associated with the jw religion so i have very little information on what other religions beleive and practice.

  Leander, it really doesnt matter what other groups teach, per se. What does the Bible say? Read the Bible for yourself and let it speak to you. The old 'What other groups teach this?' argument is absolutely meaningless if the Bible doesnt teach it, and I would give a hearty 'amen' that the WT is NOT teaching anything Biblical.

  I have been meeting with a JW weekly and I am just stunned at the way they pull verses right out of context, EVERYTIME! I couldnt find one verse the gentleman presented to me that wasn't ripped out of the middle of a dialogue that had nothing to do with the subject he was trying to prove. Such is the way with religious cuults. They have a preconceived idea and go to the Bible to find it and make it fit. Get a good translation of the Word and start reading. Lose the religion and build a relationship [with God[.

  Wow, how wonderful to read about all the people on this board who know Jesus! What a shocker!! When I post things I feel somewhat like a renegade. I know others like me are out there, but most of the talk is just such indifference to God, that I often feel alone. I have never been a JW, but feel called by God to reach them for Jesus. I am most likely going out today to look for them. Prayers are appreciated. If there is anyone out there in the San Diego area, get a hold of me. I am looking for other believers to hook up with that are like minded in this area.

  Mouthy, I can't believe that you are Grace Gough. I absolutely loved your testimony! It was so funny, I laughed, I cried, wow! It was one of the first ones I listened to when I found that site and I still remember it as being one of my favorites :) God is awesome amen?!

  Adonai, I didnt realize how young you are. Praise God! At least the JW's didnt take your whole life like many.

  Clash City, great post, thanks. One comment though, as far as salvation and the Trinity goes, I dont think totally grasping it is essential for salvation, in fact, when I was saved, I didnt even realize that Jesus was God. It took a little while for the Holy Spirit to reveal to me who Christ was, but I wouldnt say that you cannot be saved without knowing this, at least at first anyway. I do understand that you cannot be born again for a period of years and still not know who Christ is.

  Also, MacArthur is reformed in his teachings, just not in his eschatology.

  You believe what these guys say, I believe what Jesus said. If the Father is the ONLY TRUE God, then by definition, Jesus is a false God. Not a lesser god, or God in a sense, but a false one. No squirming out of it. Also, Thomas called Jesus God Almighty, not a god in the Roman sense (since that is no god at all) but the true and only God. Even the JW's don't deny that (at least the ones I talked to) they just say things like 'Oh he was just startled' or some other nonsense.

  Also.....

  Basically Jehovah says there is no Savior besides Him. IN Isaiah He says He created everything by Himself. Either God is forgetful or has a serious case of apoplexy. (He hem, um remember God that Jesus was with you when you created the world? Surely you remember right?)

  I think Bang said it best when he quoted 'Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.'

  Judging by other posts, I didnt think you believed in the Bible Red. Do you?
