why dont witnesses celebrate xmas, etc
by aussie ini have asked this question but it hasnt really been answered for me, so why do they not celebrate xmas, birthdays, etc.

Eventhough I celebrate it because of my wife I still don't really like it. It is really about giving gifts to people and decorating the house. It puts a burden on many people who don't have the money to buy gifts for all the ones in the family. So many people go in debt with credit cards that hardly get paid by next Christmas. It is based on a lie, Jesus wasn't born on Dec. 25.if he was born at all. Even my wife says she would like to forget it this year.

MOUTHY NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS AND/OR SUPPORT
by Mary inour dear mouthy is really having a tough time right now and needs our support and/or prayers.
as some of you may know, she's already lost 3 of her children in death and the other one to the borg.
in the last couple of days, she's had to worry about her 2 year old great-granddaughter being in the hospital with an illness and yesterday, her daughter had a suspicious mole removed from her back and was told there is a lump in her breast which has to be biopsied.

Took a Trip to Peaks of Otter
by Undecided inwe (my wife and two friends and i) went for about a two hour drive to this beautiful area of va. we had dinner and just enjoyed the beauty of the mountains.
it's on the parkway near roanoke va. i hope the pictures show up ok.. .

Gary, that must have been a fun trip. There were many motorcycles up there this week. The weather was beautiful except it was a little hazy in the distance. I like Asheville also. Haven't been up there in a while. I sold my motocycle about 20 years ago. Haven't been on one since. Sometimes I wish I still had it.

There seems to be good and bad in everything in the universe. Religion is no different. I guess it depends on the religion and whether it's based on love or some other human emotion and whether it makes you happy or not. The ancient history of religion doesn't seem to give it much to brag about, and not many today either. The human mind can be lead in so many directions it's kind of scary. There doesn't seem to be enough evidence to prove any God or religion to be the real truth of the universe, so we must just find our own way through life and hope for happiness and if we can't accept death find hope in some religion or God.

I had quit the "Truth" for many years and the CofC cleared my mind of all quilt. I loaned it to my brother who had been D"fd for a holiday infraction and it cleared his mind of guilt also. We are so much bettter friends now than we ever were as JWs. and so much closer as family. You won't regret reading it.
