  If your God were in charge...

  what would the world be like?.

  for example, today orthodox jews and christians don't kill witches and homosexuals because they can't legally.. but if things were as their god decreed in the bible, they'd be dead.. islam, when it has enough power to enforce it's laws, summarily kills and dismembers those that offend allah.. so if you're unhappy with all the gays and druggies and atheists and witches and hippies, are you secretly longing for the day when your deity of choice exterminates them?.

  I've had this bad feeling that a natural disaster will change life as we know it. I'm glad I lived in the age that I did. Maybe I've watched too many Discovery programs on TV. They are always showing how the earth could be devastated by so many things, and we have been so lucky so far. I probably won't be around to see if it happens though.

  What I don't like is raking all the leaves. I'll be almost 72 when I have to clean all this mess up and I don't know if I will be able to do it this year. We'll see I guess. Maybe I'm just getting lazy or been sitting around to much lately.

  What's the longest you've spent without going on a computer?

  i don't spend a day without turning on my computer.

  sometimes i wonder how long i could go without turning this thing on..... it's true that i have good music downloaded and i enjoy listening to music and i love reading bad news...lol and i also love to have a peek here on jwd and chat now and then.. since the last 5 years, i guess i didn't spend a day without going on a computer.

  I get up an hour or two before my wife does, so I get on the computer every morning. When I go on vacation(which I haven't been able to afford the last two years) I don't miss the computer. I get bored watching the TV at night and head for the computer.

  Bowling friend on the news

  a guy we bowled with monday was on the news, he had shot a deputy sheriff, the deputy was wearing a bullet proff vest and it saved him.

  don't know what cause him to shoot the deputy.

  he is an easy going, really friendly person.

  I have known this guy for several years, visited him at his house. Well, maybe not known him, but this seems so out of character for him. He is 73 years old. I hope there was some misunderstanding. Someone called the deputy because of some noise in the neighborhood. They arrested another man who walked up with a concealed pistol. I will have to get the details before I can judge the situation.

  At the risk of Outing myself...

  ...oh wait a minute, i'm out but my daughter is still in...anyway all this talk about gas prices and electric cars, etc made me want to mention my newest venture.

  (apologies for this being so long but here's a little background).

  i used to produce a classic car tv show that ran for many years on pbs across the nation and was syndicated in several countries.

  I just watched a TV show on the Discovery chanel about non gasoline cars. They even had one that runs on compressed air that would run 300 miles. Some used water,nitrogen. Some used sun power. It was quite interesting.

  Why was I so blind?

  now that i can see right through the crap that is the jw religion, i sometimes ask myself - how come you blindly believed all that rubbish for 30 years??!!

  i am so annoyed with myself for that - i have a degree, yet i was totally duped for such a large part of my life.

  and now that i can see how so full of holes it all is, i kick myself for not seeing it before.

  Hi Mrs. Smith,

  Your comment: I've learnt more in about the bible in the 3 years that I have been a Christian than in the 20 years i was a JW.

  If Christain religions understand the bible so well, why are there so many different views of what it means by them. Haven't you noticed how many different christain religions there are? I've been going to church for a year or so and I can't see how the bible makes any sense anymore. The only thing I see that they all agree on is, "You must have faith" in whatever you believe the bible to mean. I guess faith means some feeling you have that says to you that you are saved or some emotional feeling you have that says to you that it's God's holy spirit. Or maybe you need to roll on the floor and speak some crazy words, or push someone on the head and have them fall backward and be healed. I still believe what old Rutherford said, "Religion is a snare and a racket."

  I guess it does serve some people well though, it gives them some sort of peace and hope and a feeling of closeness with others. If you like it, it's you choice, I guess I'm heading for hell fire though, if I don't drink his blood and eat his flesh.
