I started my fade in 1974. It had nothing to do with 1975, I was just fed up with it all.

hey yall, i'm looking to see what book/books that show the rapid decline of jw membership, cause of the failed 75 prediction.
i've read from different internet sources it was around 800,000 from the mid 70's to 1980. is there a particular jw book i can find this in?
maybe i could compare the mid 70's yearbooks?

it's almost impossible for anything someone does to be about anything except them...not necessarily bad, but true.
we can only truly see things from our point of view...period.. being broke is better when you are with friends.. there are real people here.
know that at all times.. sometimes you have to be there for someone when it isn't convenient...do it anyway.. frostbite hurts...bad.. pay attention at all times...this thing (life) moves really fast and a little screw up can turn into the mother of all clusterf*cks in a split second.. i don't know sh*t.. .
Hi Wanderlustguy,
My first wife, a JW was from Roswell, NM. She was a Pardue. Went by there in the 60s. I thought the area was nice. Haven't seen any UFO lately have you???

my wife bought a little rubber toy that makes a sound when you squeeze it.
it sort of looks like a small puppy.
normally my little dog will play with these toys, bite them and make them squeel, throw them around the floor, but this one is different to her.
We have two Wiener dogs, one is old and the one with the toy is less than a year old. She is so sweet. She tries to talk to us when she wants something, it's funny to hear her whine and bark, sometimes it sounds like she really is talking to us. I think I will get rid of the toy, sometimes she won't let the old one sleep in the dog bed with the toy. They both lay in my chair when I watch TV, one on each side of me. They always chose the same side, like it's their place.

She thinks it's a real puppy and picks it up real gently and takes it to her bed and lays with it. When she lays in my lap she brings it with her. She whines to it and doesn't act normal. It's really strange and kind of funny to watch her react with it. I wonder what made her react this way. She smells it and licks it sometimes, I really wonder what she thinks it is.
Maybe it's demon possessed. Of course it was made in China.

last week i revisited a place in my youth that was important.
it no longer exists.
not even an address.
Hi Java,
They just tore down the school my wife attended when she was young and they are tearing down the old Fieldcrest warehouse where I first went to work in 1955. I went by there a few years ago and went inside and looked at the place where I worked. The floor was made of hard wood and still shiney. It was full of birds, we stored blankets in bens and filled orders to be boxed and sent to business. It was two stories and about 500 ft. long. Oh so many memories. I met my current wife there before her husband died. She was pregnant with my step daughter before I left that working area. I never thought I would ever be married to her. I thought she was a very pretty girl though.

I do this all the time. I still live in the same area that I grew up in. I'm always remembering old times I had when young. I went by the old KH my dad built back in the early fifties, the first one in our area. I was married there the first time. It is a church of some kind now. As I drive through the rural arears I remember a lot of homes my family had bible studies in. I see all the old homes my family lived in and it makes me sad. I seem to be more concerned about the past than the future. I've had a great life, even as a JW and don't want to see it end.

this is an actual news article... crazy...
hayden, idaho a man who believed he bore the "mark of the beast" used a circular saw to cut off one hand, then he cooked it in the microwave and called 911, authorities said.
the man, in his mid-20s, was calm when kootenai county sheriff's deputies arrived saturday in this northern idaho town.
I knew a lot of young JWs who should have cut off their right hand when I was a kid, or maybe something else.

as most of you now know, i do commercial janitorial for a living !
lol!
especially after seeing the thread i posted today !
I worked in data processing, operating the mainframe computer for a textile company. I liked my job and never felt stressed, my boss never bothered me. I trained many others to operate the computer during my 35 years doing this. I started doing this before the mainframe computers were invented, they were accounting machines that used punched cards to read the data and print reports. I wired the boards that controlled the information from the cards. There were sorters, colators, and summary machines that punched the cards back in those days.
I printed all the checks for the company and I couldn't reveal what the big wheels made. Some made $35,000 a month.

i hope well.
this is a subject i've been wanting to approach for awhile as i've noticed on the board at times there have been wisecracks about janitors who were jehovah's witnesses .
now , hey, i'm real, have a good sense of humor, and can take a joke like anyone, be the brunt of a good joke, hell, i laugh at myself when i work alone at nights- just to keep entertained !
When I was fading out of the JWs I was friends with a janitorial business owner who was a JW and he had more money than I ever did. He had a nice boat and a condominium at the beach. We went fishing on his boat several times at the cost. Tragically he was killed in a car accident. I respected his business ability.
