One question. How did you remember all that from a meeting? All the time I was a JW, I never remembered that much from a CO's visit.

10 yr old fears
by stephenw20 inthe other day , my youngest daughter in i asked her if she was afraid , she said yes i am afraid they will come and kill us.
i said to her in my best pathetic lie, honey as long as i am here no one will hurt you and then i encouraged her to pray ..any time she feels that way so if i am not with her she can have something to feel secure about.. .
watching a tv show & listening to radio reports the last few days, i cant imagine what a 10 yr old in afghanistan feels in the way of fear.

Hi Stephen,
I don't agree either, I hate the way religious fanatics treat other humans. Religious hatred has caused more murder than all other causes, except perhaps political power struggles. It makes me sick to see how the women and children are treated by the men in those middle eastern societies, and now as a result of their actions the women and children will probably suffer more atrocities. It makes me sad.

I cant understand how a human can be so heartless. If my 10yr old is worried about war what of the ~people~ of Afghanistan. THey have a government who kills them at will and now they have the US to have to run from.
Haven't you heard the slogan, "One nation under God"? He always kills the women and children when fighting the enemy.

Hi OLI,
How many JWs have asked any questions about God, it's considered a lack of faith and you know what happens to those with a lack of faith.
The questions were funny as well as something to make you think.
You could have added one about the size of God, how big do you think he is, are we really made in his image?
Your post made me laugh as well as think.

by You Know inperhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

Hi YK,
You could be right about the money situation, all I hear from the local businesses is no one is spending any money, my wife has been laid off from her job and my son-in-law's business is going under fast as no one will give any contracts right now.
But what does this have to do with any move by God to kill everyone not a JW?

I Said Goodbye
by Farkel inmy father was rushed by ambulance from his rest home to st. marks hospital in salt lake city, utah friday, but i only just heard about it.
i received a call from the floor nurse and she told me he is not expected to live.
his lungs are filled fill up with fluid and are continuing to fill u with more fluid: he has pneumonia.

I can feel what you are going through as I lost my dad when I was 18 and I loved him dearly. I am fighting tears as I think of you right now. We must face whatever life brings and just go on, it's not easy and brings sadness to our hearts. I hope your mom can cope with the loss. We are thinking of you and hope that helps.

Rookie on the Field

at first i thought it was a meeting place for practicing jw's but after reading many posts found that most people here have been hurt or don't see things eye to eye with the wt org.
i am not a jw but i have been associating with them for about 3 yrs.

Hi PeacePipe,
You seem to be a reasonable, good and loving person. Stay that way by not letting any religion get control of your life. If you love God, that is between you and him and it shouldn't be controlled by any human or organization of humans. I have my doubts about God and if he really cares, but that is my personal view.
As you have seen there are many good people associated with JWs but they are controlled in their thinking and life by a few old men who feel they are so special that God is telling them only what is truth, and your opinions are not worth listening to. They put themselves in God's place and every crumb of truth must come from some publication they print. Down through the years the "truth" has changed so many times that if one of the founders were alive they wouldn't recognize the "truth" today. They call it new "light" or brighter "light".
I won't try and tell you what to do, but I would at least look closely behind the scenes to see what really goes on there. No loyal JWs will tell you any thing contrary to the party line as they would be labeled an apostate and disfellowshiped. Take you time and look closely at the real JW life.
You seem to be doing that here.

More Bethelite Table Crumbs Please!
by MadApostate inin a controversial post in a separate thread, janh makes an extremely good observation that a certain former gb member will likely carry many, many wts "top secrets" to his grave, for whatever reasons he does not wish to divulge such.. then, on this db, former bethelites constantly exchange posts where their word choice is "cloaked" so that many of us who were not insiders are left guessing at meaning, people, etc.
obviously, even individual members of this fraternity have unique experiences and insights.
if such info is not disseminated, it is lost if that person dies naturally or in an accident.. would you folks please post more elaborately so that the rest of us can benefit from your knowledge and experience.. the statement that motivated this post made a silent reference to the author of the happiness book.
