over the last two years, as i moved back to the catholic church, i have been confronted with objections by several people regarding certain catholic teachings.
these concerns are almost always the same, and are founded in mythology created by the watchtower society, and some evangelical denominations.
god can and does use fallible men to do infallible things?
I think all religion is just an attempt to explain God. There are so many different ideas that a person who really looks for a real answer will be disapointed by all religions. Where is there any proof of any of the claims that religions make about spiritual life. All these signs that Jesus is comming soon around the south here in NC is just a waste of time. All religious people want to go to heaven but no one wants to die. Time will tell, but how many more thousand years will it take?

I don't have one myself, don't want one. My wife has one in case she needs me when she is driving her car. Now, the way people use cell phones, it looks as though God would use them to get in touch with people if he really talks to them. He talks to a lot of people in mental institutions I've heard.

i remember how much emphasis the org used to put on studying your publications, and how looking at other peoples books during the meeting was like seeing a lazar show with bright, hot, multicolored, florescent highlighted pages.
but i never personally enjoyed studying (even when i was more hardcore in it) so since i used to have privileges/responsibilities one of the requirements was to study for all the meetings, so before the meetings i would take a hot yellow and florescent blue marker and quickly just start marking up my books so that it looked like it was studied.
sometimes to look even more spiritual i would take a pen and start writing random crap in the margins, even scribble lines so from far away it looked likes cursive.
I had to really study them all. I was the WT study conductor and book study conductor since my early twenties. I did that for about 20 years.

we all start out as children, uninformed and totally impressionable.
our parents get first crack at us and glue down the first layers in our pyramid of thought.
like going to church, accepting jesus as our savior etc.
I know how you feel, Blueblades. I can't find any answers either. I attend church with my wife and daughter and it seems God is just a feeling religious people have within themselves. It does seem to help some people be better persons but religion as a whole doesn't seem the answer to life's questions and problems and can be very expensive when you consider all the big church buildings you see all around here. I can't remember any statement that Christ made that suggested his followers build big structures to house his worshipers, but I just wonder if he ever existed anyway.
I guess I'm a lost soul heading for everlasting hell fire with the Devil and God's other created spirit creatures. He seems to like killing and keeping us from the tree of life by inventing the sword at Eden.
I hope God doesn't visit JWD and read what I just said.

you could be at the door of the least popular munger in school, but overwhelmed with envy because, hey, at least he was doing something normal.
in 8th grade, at the peak of childhood self-consciousness, i knocked on the door of a super popular, rich, "in" kid from my class and he answered the door.
I remember it well. I was about 9 or 10 years old and called on this home and it was one of my class mates who picked on me in school. The only scripture I read was Ps. 83:18 , the name of God. His mama started reading me scriptures that I couldn't dispute and I went back to the car crying. We later had a fight at school and he didn't pick on me anymore. He and his twin sister died a few years ago. I still remember the house they lived in out in the country.

my favorite books of the bible have always been the gospels.
i love the movie "jesus of nazareth".
I guess I'm still undecided. I go to church with my wife and daughters and sit there trying to figure out what the bible means when it says something or other. It says if you believe you will never die, then says to wait for the resurrection at the last trumphet, that you must be called by God but anyone that has faith will be saved. It says works are not important but you have to have works to be saved. There are so many contridictions, and Jesus talked so far out you don't understand what he was meaning unless you are part of his little group. He was David's ancestor but had none of his sperm unless God saved it up and stuck it in Mary, then he wasn't God's sinless boy.
Don't ask me what I believe, I can't figure it out.

so remember kids, the moral of this story: good tattoos are not cheap, cheap tattoos are not good .
What's happening with the young people today? My grandkids are getting tattoos and piercings of different sorts. When they get old like me they may wish they had stayed normal, according to my standards at least. I guess it's their body though.

why is my jw faith so vacant?
it could have to do with the fact that wt's official position on the bible is that is has been altered over time, and they have done their best to "restore" it the way they think it must have been, despite have zero manuscript evidence to do so.
but this only got me studying more in depth the history of jw teachings, and caused me lose faith in the bible.. what can you conclude if a religion has made literally hundreds of changes to its teachings in just over 100 years?
oompa, I feel sort of like you about the bible. It's sort of like it was from two different Gods. The Hebrew bible and the Greek bible. How long was it between the two writtings? Those who claim to understand the writtings and have God's spirit all differ in their teachings. There have been no more writtings in 2,000 years. If believing in Jesus is the only way to survive in the after life, what about all those before he came, if he was a real person? Are they going to be resurrected and be given a chance to believe to see if they have faith? It all doesn't make sense to me.
