God and science as one.
If science can explain 'God', and 'God' can explain science, are they not the same thing??
found this interesting article in the ny times.
i had never heard of a tulpa before.
for those of us that don't buy into certain posters claims, this may be an explanation.. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/15/opinion/luhrmann-conjuring-up-our-own-gods.html?_r=0.
God and science as one.
If science can explain 'God', and 'God' can explain science, are they not the same thing??
..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.
...Plus, why is God mad at everybody because of 2 people...would he be angry with us if we had a beef with an neighbor but also beefed with the entire family...
legacy ,
your very logical question has a very logical answer as well. the entire 'Garden of Eden' account is symbolic, it didnt actually happen (there is no proof it did.)
the entire account is like a picture that is designed to help you comprehend a very profound 'truth', or fact. (hence the image heavy description of what 'happened' in that 'garden').
what does it symbolize? a very simple fact. man (collectively) is very lost. There is too much hatred and indifference toward one another. There is a 'fiery sword', an obstacle, between man and 'God' (Perfection and Good).
If you take the garden of eden account as literal, you can blame God, the Devil, Adam or Eve, none of which makes sense as doing this brings up an interminable list of why's.
But taken as a symbol, we quickly understand that man collectively is at fault, and thus man alone can rectify this 'evil'.
i am curious about this.
ever since i realized that there is no proof that jesus=michael the archangel, i wondered about who jesus was.
that's how i think of the father and the son, or the word.

You are still commiting the mistake of personifying 'God'.
This is why your comprehension of the relationship between Father and Son is so convoluted.
In attempting to decipher this relationship in terms of actual, real, and humanly physical experiences (in spite of your assertion that youo do it 'spiritually') your mind loses its logical thread and you are left right where you began, square one.
In another one of your threads I offered that 'God' is a symbol, not an ACTUAL person sitting on a throne in heaven.
Decipher the meaning of the symbol that is 'God', and your questions are thoroughly and satisfyingly answered. Once you do this, once you comprehend the true and absolute meaning of 'God' you will begin to 'see with the spiritual eyes'.
Here is a tip when it comes to 'understanding' the knowledge of God , if something isn't real and provable, then it must be symbolic of something that IS.
..from the scriptures why.... 1) material wealth is a sign of jehovah's blessing in our modern day.. 2) why jehovah blesses the growth of chicken populations, but allows active jehovah's witnesses to die in field service, or on the way to conventions, and on the way to celebrate the memorial?
3) why jesus is not your mediator?
bibles and a concordance only.
No. Actually I'm just playing with you, Monsieur. Your "answers" are such non-answers that it's entertaining to repeat them back to you.
Wrong yet again shirley,
you are stating quite the OPPOSITE of what i am answering.
It is what tends to happen when you answer with emotion rather than reason.
..from the scriptures why....
So, god is not dead....he's just an absentee parent.
Got it.
wrong again shirley,
last time i checked, there is plenty of love going around in the world.
love has not gone anywhere.
..from the scriptures why.... 1) material wealth is a sign of jehovah's blessing in our modern day.. 2) why jehovah blesses the growth of chicken populations, but allows active jehovah's witnesses to die in field service, or on the way to conventions, and on the way to celebrate the memorial?

So, god is dead and has left his money to just a few individuals who are now wealthy?
shirley
no, God did NOT die. God is eternal remember.
Love, in this case the father's, continued to excercise its power even in the father's absence when the lawyer enforced his instructions in his will when dispensing his wealth to his son and daughter.

But, what I'd love to get just a straight yes or no answer on is this - does god/love bless people with wealth?
comatose,
well i appreciate you trying to understand what i am saying.
Well, let’s see where or in what circumstance would love REALISTICALLY make you wealthy.
I can see a loving father who unselfishly leaves (upon his death) a substantial life insurance benefit to his son or daughter, or perhaps leaving him a business, land, or jewelry through a will.
The thoughtful and careful father’s actions motivated by love have now made that son or daughter wealthy.

comatose-
It's like asking, "Does Santa really know if you are naughty or nice?"
The 'god' you are referring to (or the one ddog was referring to in the OP) does NOT exist, therefore he cannot do ANYTHING.
Now, love DOES exist. And yes, love is very capable of doing wonderful things. I hope you read my first post on this thread and are not just going by the semi-quote shirley posted.

Mon why don't you just be more direct and bold. Do you think god blesses people with wealth? If so, then why doesn't he care about Africa?
Comatose
You are atributting that everything that happens under the sun is the result of some sick-minded old man in the clouds pulling on his toy marionette when and how he pleases.
read that phrase again. doesn't it induce laughter? (or at least a face palm)?
Who REALLY is responsible for the abuse of innocent young girls in Africa??
If your evidence is 'God', the sick old man in the clouds, and mine are the putrid and selfish acts of men in power in Africa, I win EVERYTIME.
now we have to answer...... 1) is there more than one god?
how do you choose the most senior god?.
2) if you chose religious texts to make this desicion, how do you know they are not purposfully misleading by an ill willed god?.
I am not blaming Jesus for anything, I am blaming those who follow him - or the myths surrounding him - uncritically.
-
cofty
exactly. Jesus has nothing to do with it. Myths are just that, myths. They are not living, breathing intelligent entities that can correspond with us, however much we wish they were so we could punch them in the face. Unfortunately, man is the culprit.
i get what you are saying.
