thanks tornapart for that video,
regarding the Nazis, ultimately something was done, too late perhaps (maybe not), but something was done.
never a jew,
what does 'deprogramming' mean or have to do with this? i never said 'the world is coming to an end'. on the contrary, im implying that a solution must exist in the 'here' and 'now'.
tornapart, your video brings something to mind- MOTIVATION
what motivates these people to do this that is good. how can we motivate more people? the math is simple, motivate more people to do good, and less people will suffer. what can motivate?

jgnat,
as always, your responses are uplifting. thanks
never a jw,
your response is a 'tad' cold. i interpret your advice to 'turn off the tv' as - ignore the suffering of others. while i can understand getting to such a point of impotence that one just throws in the towel, i also believe that this is the same nonchalance that evil men in this world count on.
simply ignoring the fact and giving up cannot be an option.

The images on the news after the town in Damascus was attached with a chemical weapon was incredibly disturbing. Babies dying, people suffocating, it was man at his worst.
Can man be saved? It seems the entire world is implicated in this conflict. Should a country intervene? should it not? Supposedly if it does, there is a risk of unleashing a nuclear war.
But if man continues to stay on the sidelines, (over what? greed, fear of losing power, money?) where is man heading?
Isnt man suppose to step in for its own sake? Many can blame the Devil for this, blame God, blame everything except who is trully responsible- a greedy and evil regime. Its time to step in and intervene. we simply cannot just watch and shrug any longer.
can the common man do this? can we, with no political and economic influence, actually do something to help our fellow man? how and what?

Even MORE evidence for "Jesus died on a Cross"?
by ILoveTTATT ini like jwfact's http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/cross-or-stake.php.
it would probably be interesting to add the information found in this article:.

Monsieur
jesus on a cross-
its an incredible and profound 'symbol'.
interestingly, this is the same type of conversation (albeit fun at times) that these 'symbols' tend to generate. they tend to throw the conversation off course into way 'left field' when its exact meaning remains veiled.
there is a reason why there is so very little historical evidence for the existence of the biblical Jesus. from this FACT, one only needs to dig deeper...

Former Longtime Elder- Met up with a Former CO,DO

I think that for practical purposes he was very smart.
At some point, 'smart' people figure certain things out and actually make the system work for them. In other words, they are able to set aside the 'emotional' factor and keep things practical. He might not have concieved of the idea that armageddon would NOT come in his lifetime at the beginning of his career, but at some point he figured 'Yep, this here system is sticking around champ. better plan accordingly'.
one of the most charismatic and genuinely nice co's i ever met read the bible AND the stock market everyday. as a business man i could appreciate this. he had bought property, investments, and ran two business WHILE serving as a CO. My hats off to him, I thought.
The fact is, you can make it work in ANY situation, as long as you are smart and take the emotion out of the equation. (this is how you can in fact preach that one should not be greedy or put 'worldly' interests first, not get tangled in satan's system etc).

XMAS AND XMAS TREES OF PAGAN ORIGIN? POSSIBLY NOT!
by badboy inoften xmas is associated with saturnalia by some people.. in fact saturnalia was celebrated 17 december to 23 december.. dies natalis natalis invicti was first celebrated on december 25 in about 270.. xmas trees are first mentioned in 1570.. no connection with paganism there..

xmas, xmas trees, holloween, easter, etc... all ideas and concepts based on assumptions that whomever is being celebrated is real. nothing more than a perpetuating of a myth.

If the bible states that god kills children, then god is not real.
by Monsieur inanyone who believes in the god of the 'holy bible' (or any other god for that matter) should be able to explain the following logically-.
if god is love, why would he kill (by the sword, implying a terrifying and painful death) children, women, etc for the wrongs and 'sins' of others?.
if god is perfect, why did he see fit to destroy en entire prehistoric world (dinosaurs) when there was no sin to blame?.

as you can see, even black holes are evident, even though for millions of years we were not conscious of them. Religion is the primary conduit in explaining god, thus my questions were directed to anyone who stills considers themselves religious and believing in God.
if a religious person sits down, and honestly considers these questions, it becomes clear that the God of the Holy Bible is not as straightfoward, devoid of hate and tolerant as religions teach, therefore that God does not exist.
The concept of God requires that He takes a position 'up-front', that he is evident, obvious, in your face even. Anything else (such as a 'being' of whom we are not conscious of) is not really God.
captain obvious,
regarding the suffering, my argument is that every new day inevitably brings new unfortunate 'incidents' that can be construed as evil. Not worse, just more of them.

If we are made in the image of God, and we are more than willing to end the evil of this world given the 'power' to do so, why does God INSIST on letting this evil subsist on and on and on, creating more pain and suffering each day? (isnt '6 thousand years' or however long of the SAME result enough for ANY intelligent being to formulate a sound assesment??)
i would pose these questions to ANY religion. if not one religion can answer them, then how can God be real?

Why does god kill children?
by Comatose ini was thinking about all the accounts in the bible that indicate god kills children as a punishment or teaching experience.
1. kills all of egypts firstborn sons, who were innocent kids who did nothing to him or his people, who had no control over the decisions pharoah made.
how many times have you read that account or thought about it without realizing the devastating pain dealt to all those parents, and remembered those were innocent kids?.
-
Monsieur
This should should throw a HUGE red flag out there.
The vast expanse between 'god of love' and killing of any living creature, much less children should make one stop and think, "this does not add up in any conceivable, logical, etc way imaginable. "
ANY religion teaching this has a very complicated time explaining it.
