If you want to read something non-religious, yet still within the genre of people control, try Captive State by George Monbiot - the corporate take-over of Britain. The lies, lies and more lies, broken promises and expidiency sound somehow familiar. A good read, and all you Brits out there should reads it too, especially with the election coming up. You could then read 'Shopped' and then 'Not on the Label'. That should keep you out of the Kingdom Halls, I mean supermarkets. Then read some dilbert.

Well, maybe flea man did not have anything to loose and could say 'Up yours everyone, I'm orf!' Many of us don't have that luxury and actually have families that we care about. It is not about 'Buying into' anything - and that is just management speak jargon to save having to actually explain - it is about people, feelings and the consequences of our actions and taking responsibilty and making the right decisions for our particular circumstances. I think that DC just wants to get the thought processes going - don't we all do it when talking with JW's to some extent? Don't we just drop in an odd word or question to start them thinking? Don't forget that most JW's don't think - they learn by rote and speak by rote. Okay, he may have said it in the way he did but his audience is this board where everyone knows what he means and I think that reprehensibility was the furthest thought from his mind and it was more tounge in cheek than anything. Maybe flea man should frequent e-watchman's site where he may read things more to his liking and leave us here to write what we like, in most cases, without being impugned with ignoble motives.

I agree with Czar. When i first found the e-Watchman site I though Hmm, not bad. As with all things like this it started out reasonable, especially as I was fading and looking for reasons to beat the WTS over the head, so I cheered from the sidelines. However, as time has gone on I became unsettled by what was being written and realised that this was the same feeling I had within the WTS. I posed various questions and assumed various disguises - outraged dub, compliant dub, sychophantic dub - which, incidently, got the best responses - he seemed to preen himself with my praise. I wrote an outraged dub question asking him if he was calling himself a prophet. It merited an essay all of it's own, which since I declared that on this site it has been withrawn from the e-watchman collection. What I found and have stated before on this site is that e-watchman does not answer the question you send him. It gets edited - anything to do with Franz, Rutherfraud or early times is excised and the question thus posted bears no resemblance to what you asked. He then answers this revised question, puts in straw men and generally rambles on and on. This, I think, is deliberate as he knows most people glaze over after a few mind numbing sentances, but it gives him the opportunity and platform to show 'what a clever boy I am'. Some of the replies from readers boarder on the sick-making with their sugary-sweet sychophancy and oh how wonderful brother, tell me more etc. To me it is just another form of mind control and ensared dubs are replacing one form of mind-terror with another - fed up with the WTS and with personal axes to grind, here is a golden opportunity to WTS bash AND still believe in the end coming anytime soon. But this will soon just replicate the feelings they have with the WTS as they become more and more unsettled. Let's face it, in the WTS you believe you are God's Chosen Ones and go along with all that. The e-watchman dissenters are not sure anymore about being God's Chosen Ones and cognitive dissonance sets in. It is like being in a building with someone saying that it is going to burn to the ground but your only hope is to stay in it, but it is going to collapse, but don't worry it's God's building. What a quandry, flee and be destroyed or stay and be destroyed. E-watchman is not helping anyone save himself and because he won't stand up and be counted he is a moral coward. Sure, I won't say what I think to witnesses because I want to remain in contact with my family, but I am not setting up an alternative organisation and firing rockets and spreading dissent amongst the JW community like he is. I think he fancies himself as another Rutherfraud and should get some therapy before he injures anymore people.

favourite games to play as a child during boring meetings
by Surfacing inmy parents were both very strict, and i wasn't allowed any toys at the hall.
my rations included a copy of my book of bible stories, and a pen and note pad.
my parents were strict to the point of not allowing me to draw pictures, i had to "take notes".

The main problem with the holding your breath game was trying not to go red in the face or wheezing as you tried to gasp in lungfuls of air quietly after you pasted 2 minutes. I liked to play the following. Look at the speaker (or anywhere) and place your pen tip on the wt page - anywhere. Whatever letter it landed on was the key letter. Then, starting at the bottom (include the questions if you like) move up each line of text if it has that letter in it until you reach the top. Then try with a different letter. You can make up your own rules as to line length, if it is a citation etc, to suit your self. 'E' usually got you to the top. If you could see out of the window and see cars, try guessing the next car's colour.

Org quoting itself to prove arguments (circular reference?)
by indoubt indiscussing recent earthquakes, the italian journal ?ii piccolo?
in fact, during a period of 1,059 years (from 856 to 1914) reliable sources list only 24 major earthquakes causing 1,973,000 deaths.
in the italian journal il piccolo, of october 8, 1978, geo malagoli observed:.

I believe that this is a common trick. You feed information to journals etc., and when they print the information in an article you can then legitimately 'quote' from it as a source backing up what you are trying to prove. The fact that you supplied the data is, of course, not mentioned. So the unsuspecting JW then reads this and says 'Aha or HO! Jeptha' and has it (say some doctrine)'proved' by the reference in a 'worldy' publication. He or she is then settled in their own mind that the argument is true and diseminates it to others. When the WTS has no references, they invent them such as "In one country a popular journal stated 'JW are the best people in the world, we like them a lot'" or 'One young witness reported "I have given away all my CD's and replaced them with kingdom melodies because it is pleasing to Jehovah"' - what a fine example for young witnesses today! The main trouble is that 'loyal'(tm) JW's swallow it all without a thought as to it actually happening or not, such is the mind control.

Da Judge: A Few Thoughts
by Farkel inthere has been a renewed interest on joseph ("grudge") rutherford lately among newer ones here.
this is good.
the entire current wt culture was shaped by him and his stooge, fred franz, and that culture exists to this very day.. da judge believed (or said he believed) that when he and others of the first-class wts elite died, they would be instantly transported to heaven to live and rule forever as immortal beings.

The only documented proof I have are the one recorded by those who were there. RR - that'll do :) Are we able to see/hear it. Is it uploadable?

CURRENT CO?s refresher course studies ?REVELATION CLIMAX? book!.!.!.!
by yesidid inalso used were the daniel book, the question box from the kingdom ministry from 1972 till now, subjects from the insight volumes and a lot of watchtower articles.
i could hardly believe they would have nerve to bring out the revelation climax book.
but as i thought about it more i wondered if they (gb), in their delusional state, somehow think it supports their claim to power.

The real problem with these 'refresher' courses is that they just churn over old material. One of the things that I used to ponder on during the meetings was the way that they would back up a statement by referring to a watchtower article. For example, something like '...after Russlles death the bretheren where wondering what to do. The answer came in a blinding flash of light in the 1st July 1925 Watchtower article entitled "This is what you do, now get on with it you dorks". The bretheren were moved to action....etc etc.' All the time their reference is to their own publications to 'prove' this or that they will just get more and more lost, because in the furtur times, those publications that have the references will become references in their own right (or wrong as the case may be). Picture the senario - 1st July 2076, "well brothers lets see what the july 15th 2004 WT has to say, ah we must check this 1919 WT too. Ah that proves it then, aluminium is Satans metal, germs don't exsist, x-rays are the work of the devil and the steam locomotive is the leviathan as spoken by jerimaiah, there that proves it." "Oh thank you brother knowall, what would we do with out you -fawn fawn, so we don't need to worry about the ebola pandemic any more, it was just satan misguiding the world before the end as we are deeeep very very deeeeeep into the end" So there you have it, that proves it and you can check that article in the 2076 WT CDROM when it becomes available.
