Friends of ours wanted us to see what they were involved with so we went. We found there were ex jws, ex adventists and ex penticostals in this group. They all come together but bring a little of their old beliefs with them. Only thing in common is they now all keep the law. They call themselves messianic hebrew roots but when asked what the name of their religion is they say they are torah keepers. I don't ask too many questions because I feel I am upsetting them sometimes when we discuss their new faith. They are such sweet people and so I don't dare rock the boat since they got df'd from the jws like we did and I just want to keep the friendship we once had since we have no family or kids.

From my understanding when I was at bethel it was only brothers that could go to China due to it being under ban. The brother we knew was also not married and in his fifties.

What’s So Good About Not Being A Jehovah’s Witness At This Point In Your Life?
by minimus infor me it’s freedom!
you are not bound by an organization’s man made rules and whims.
you don’t have to account to mere men for approval.

No more guilt and fear from imperfect men. Able to love all my animals whether domestic or in the wild. Able to read what ever I want since I'm the one that pays my internet and cable bills. The big one is being able to have my own free will and not constantly be told no no no your not allowed. How can god judge someone if their freewill has been taken away from them? To be able to make decisions for myself and not have to answer to a group of imperfect idiots who have major drinking problems (I for sure don't) and be able to help anyone in need and not just jw's who are trained to be bums and help only those of their same religion. To not be a burden on the welfare system while some are collecting it while out door to door getting paid. Minimus you touched a nerve with this question for sure but hope lurkers are reading this.

Did your congregation ever throw special parties exclusively for Pioneers?
by Tenacious ini'm trying to remember if these parties were a direct instruction from hq or if this was something on a local level.. i remember i attended at least 2 of these parties and we also would bring them gifts.
i saw them no different than a bday party (elevating someone to idolatry level).. if anyone else remembers these parties please let me know.
if there's a letter out there somewhere from hq that would be even better.

In our case it was two huge pool parties (tons of booze and dinner) in the summer and a huge dinner in the fall. First couple of years the dinner would be at a restaurant buffet style then after that it was in homes. Hated those dinners. At least when they were in restaurants you could finish your meal and leave. In the homes is where the elders would get the publishers to dress in black and white and be our waiters/waitresses. It was right after that the next day we said we weren't pioneering anymore. Disgusting to say the least and embarrassed to have been a part of it.

Convention 2019: Children told don't form emotional attachment to pets!
by Nathan R. Koppe ini have just heard from a visitor to the jehovah's witnesses convention for 2019, that they have been told; 'not to form an emotional attachment to their pets, as animals don't have feelings anyway'.. well, that should break a few children hearts!👨👩👧👦 🥴 😭 💔.

Animals don't have feelings? Really? Then why does a dog walk away real slow with his head down when he's about to get scolded for getting into something he shouldn't have. He hasn't even been given shit and he knows he's done something to upset you. Or the dog that knows your not well and doesn't leave your side. The dog that laid at his dead master's grave site mourning for his master. Dam right animals have feelings.
If the org could make money off our pets every time they went to die and we got top dollar for their pelts and sent the money into them then they would sing a different tune. Such assholes and the ones sitting there listening to this crap are even bigger dummies. It's the children I feel sorry for. They are forced to put up with this garbage.

Do You Think Disfellowshipping Is The Worst Thing About Jehovah’s Witnesses?
by minimus inthe longer i’m out the more i feel that disfellowshipping is cruel.
i understand the organization tells parents to not even accept emails or texts from their disfellowshipped children.
while i was a witness they tried to discourage families from association but there was some leeway if it was considered necessary business to interact.

2 John 9-10 New International Version (NIV)
9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them.
Again the joho's get it wrong. Anyone denying the Christ were not to be associated with. Even Christ associated with the men of the nations:
Matthew 9:10-17 New International Version (NIV)
10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
When many leave the cult it's not because they have denied Christ's teachings but they deny the cult's false teachings. Even Jesus ate with sinners of all sorts.

Zeb, at the Canadian branch they went out and got a few shepherds from pups to be guard dogs. No one was allowed to touch them or talk to them but that failed. Everyone was loving them up and feeding them their left over lunches. There were a couple of dogs over at the bethel farm as well and when that farm got sold the brother that had it was allowed to bring the dog over to the bethel in Georgetown where it lived out its life with its master in one of the houses they lived in. Yes the dog was allowed to live in the house with the elderly brother until the dog passed away. And let me tell you, brother Kurt sure did love that dog! -

I walked away and then a few years later called in to bethel service department and told them to take me off their membership roll. The following week I was announced at the hall I had attended. Nothing on paper, no letter to send in but for sure I wanted nothing in their name associated with my name or reputation. I understand totally why you did what you did. We're free at last!

Or how about a person who was only publicly reproved and not df'd. They did nothing wrong but stopped going to the meetings. And they were dying of cancer and just wanted to talk to a family member but that family member told them they were afraid that their faith would be shaken. That dying person also had lost everyone in their congregation so they had also lost all their friends. They have no friends and no family and are dying. Watchtower you will fucking pay. The courts are looking more in favor of the ones who are shunned. It's just a matter of time and it's soon. Real soon. Just around the corner. Sound familiar?

Where I can find information on South Australia court case, where a JW sued his KH and the WTS after breaking his leg in field service?
by LUKEWARM in.
from memory a newspaper article reported on this some years ago - it involved the jw trespassing on private property, being knocked over by a goat, the homeowner being sued and having to pay damages to the jw.. initially as the jw sued his congregation, the wts defended the kh and itself with the statement that jw's are not required to go out in field service and that the ministry work is purely voluntary.... can anyone point me to a link?.

I remember being out in service one time and we had a call where on the back of the territory card it had read that the home owner's dog bites. Yet the idiot we were with went in anyways. It was a widow who had no kids but only her dog. When the guy turned around to go back to the car he was bitten by her dog. Later that afternoon he went to the hospital and from there someone had gone out to this poor women's home and took her dog away. It was put in quarantine for I think something like two weeks. She got the dog back but also paid for his trousers to be mended. I was pissed and got told off for telling this idiot what he did wrong. So thankful to be out and and ashamed to have ever been a joho!!!
