Along a similar line, I know my 80 year old mother has said about me and/or one of my other siblings - to other jw's and non jw's alike - "He (they) know it's the truth". She makes this statement knowing full well that I (we) DO NOT "know it's the truth". I've also wondered what to do/say about it.

What do you suggest I do about this?
by Mulan inmy 90 year old jw mother told a friend of mine this yesterday: "marilyn said that not a day goes by that she doesn't regret leaving the truth.
" my friend called me to report it to me, because she knows better.. what i told mom is this: "i hope someday i will come to a time when i can forget i was ever a jw, and don't think about it every day.".
she got something different out of it than what i intended.. i don't care that she told this particular friend, but i would hate it if she is saying that to other people in her congregation.

Demon Stories - lets hear them?
by hippikon inthe more i listen to the religion argument the more atheist i become.
their are still some things that are hard to explain and most simply doesnt need explaining who cares?
just because we dont know the explanation doesnt mean there isnt one!.

When I was about 9 yrs old, two "brothers" were over at our house one night to "study" with my father while my mom was out at a tupperware party or somesuch. At some point the talk turned to the inevitable JW discussion of demons (seemed normal to me at the time!). Well, these two "brothers" were sitting on the couch and we were all engrossed in the supernatural...I guess it would be the same feeling as sitting around the proverbial campfire. All the talk became real when all of a sudden something started tapping one of the "brothers" on the shoulder. He yelled and we all jumped...really broke the tension! I'll bet he crapped his britches right then and there! They looked back but couldn't see anything (at the window not his britches!). Makes ya wonder don't it?
The explanation..... We had an evaporative cooler in the window right behind the couch the "brothers" were sitting on. One side of the resulting opening was left open for the cat to come and go as he pleased. The demon was just our cat trying to come in to eat and all the yelling scared him away. I hope those witnesses remember that night!!!!!At this same time we had a neighbor lady who was quite a bit like Mrs. Kravitz on Bewitched. Seems that she would leave her house in the morning and come back in the evening and her bed would be all messed up even though she made it up before she left. This kept happening so she would make sure the bed was made and even closed the bedroom door to keep their small dog out. Bed was still messed up when she got home and the bedroom door was still closed. Everything else was in order. One day one of her sons was home from school when she left the house and he saw what was happening. As she left the house, closing the front door would cause the bedroom door to open because it wouldn't shut securely. The dog would run in and play and sleep in the bed and mess it up. When the woman came home, the dog heard her at the door and would run to meet her. As she opened the front door, the draft would close the bedroom door again. The dog was obviously innocent so it just HAD to be demons!

need fluff? Tell some corny church sign sayings
by LyinEyes ini live in the south , very heavy bible belt.
there is a church on every corner.
they always have a sign out front with some very corny saying.

Ok, not really a "sign" this one, but advertising of sorts.
An elder I knew was out in sevice one day with a younger (imature?) jw. They passed a church with a statue of jesus with his hands outstretched and the younger jw went up and put a WT in one of the hands and an Awake in the other. Made the Elder extremely mad!!! He said "That's the kind of thing that gives us a bad name!" Well, I thought it was funny :) -

What's Your Favorite Quote?

so, i guess its my new favorite quote.
"the difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'.

Anyone used to listen to Robin Trower???
by pomegranate in.
i loved his groove...was just listening to "the fool and me".

Yep, I used to listen to Trower. When I was learning to play drums "Too Rolling Stoned" was one of my favs. Have heard a few of Trowers tunes on the radio of late here in Dallas. Brings back memories... think I'll have to try drumming some of 'em again for old times sake.

President Bush's speech
by Mulan ini wanted to hear the president's speech tonight, but can't stand listening to the man.
he has a prepared speech but he keeps saying nuc-you-lar instead of nuc-le-ar.
i can't stand it.. you would think his people would walk him through correct pronunciation.
-
DFWnonJW
i think i have the solution to this one. 'stead of saying nucklier...newcleear...er, whatever, it should just be pronounced "big 'ol bomb" ie. we got's to stop that sadam from making "big 'ol bombs."

Way back when, there was a band called Hamilton, Joe, Frank and Reynolds. I remember all the musically inclined jw's talking of at least one of them being a witness but I haven't a clue which one(s).
Tried searching on Yahoo and thought it looked funny: Jehovah, Hamilton, Joe, Frank and Reynolds

Howdy y'all - first time poster, long time lurker. Some great romantickle ideas here. Hope I get to use some someday (again). Used to do the obligatory holiday/special day card/flowers/gifts thing for my last g/f but also unexpectedly and take her out as often as a baby sitter could be arranged. Also did the "little" things to help her out and help with her kids too. Then she did the most romantic thing for me. I tried to get hold of her to take her out (unexpectedly of course) and later found out she was out with another guy making a beer run and then didn't want to see me that night. We broke up the next day. So for me, nothing says romance like B double E double R U N .... BEER RUN!
take humor where you can find it right?
