(((Wildhorses))) Yep, it is a small world and I guess eventually all of "us" drift in and out of the same apostaspots. I've often thought of Life and wondered how she's doing. I was one scared puppy when I first went into her chatroom and it was a big step for me that turned out to be a big help. I enjoyed my time there but there comes a time to move on (mine was AOL raising prices again). It's good to run into familiar names here and I'm glad you inquired as to my identity :) When you chat with Life again please tell her Chinhair said hello.

hi wildhorses. I remember chatting with you there too Luv. As for me, well, I was called Chinhair in my past 'life'. hehe I'm sure I'm remembered (if at all) for my name and sensless humor rather than any insight proffered. Hey, we all got a part to play right?

I wonder if this might be the same Alf that used to drop in to a certain AOL Xjw room now and again. My, my. <breaks into song> ...It's a small board after all... ah yes, the memories.

"They're Downsizing"/"Going to Hell?"
by metatron ini had a conversation with an elder and his wife who have a son in bethel.
they said they had not heard of bethelites with.
less than 5 years service being asked to leave but only that the society is "encouraging" brothers to consider.

If the volumes are no longer bound then they are free. If only the jws themselves were so lucky as to become unbound eh?

Difference of age
by JH inso many times in the jw, i saw couples getting married.
but what struck me so often was the difference in age between the man and wife.
often the man was 15-25 years older than the woman.

Ok then. I've been feeling so down for so long now but this thread has shown me the "light". I never knew of this 5:1 female to male ratio. Sure wasn't that way when I was attending KH's. But anyway, I know now that the thing to do is to head straight back for the nearest KH and find me a good looking semi-intelligent straggler/outsider of a sister to hook up with. Then, help her make her JW exit and she will be eternally grateful and we'll live happily... --- oh, sorry, I guess this should be posted under the JW Urban Legends thread ---

What's The Worst Pressure You Endured Because You Were A JW?
by minimus inwas it internal or external?
i know of some that pioneered because they felt they had to.
we know of many that felt awful because they were ridiculed because they were witness children and had to get baptized and face school pressure, all the while hating it.

hey jws....I think we met in Dallas at the Afest. Too bad we didn't get to chat about the KMS horrors then.
I was about 7 when I was asked if I wanted to join and I didn't even know what it was really. But, you know how it is when you have an elder and your mom standing over you with "that" look and you KNOW there is only ONE correct answer. I was probably the shyest of kids also and with my mom writing my talks and inserting words/phrases I had no clue about, well, I was a train wreck waiting to happen. Embarrased isn't the word - losing your place and stumbling along trying to get through it while the whole room laughs at you does not exactly fill you with confidence.
Then there's the flag salute thing. I don't think anyone's mentioned that yet. Stuck between your "beliefs" and teachers almost yelling threatening that everyone "had BETTER salute the flag...even if you are a Jehovah's Witness". All the kid's that had to endure that terror of being stuck between the immediate threats of teachers and the impending threats of god. What a life eh?
Overall, just being a witness kid was the worst pressure imaginable. Having to be so different and stand up for things that we couldn't really understand. Y'all know what I mean I think.

New Date for Armageddon?
by NeonMadman ini had an interesting chat with a jw on yahoo messenger yesterday.
of course, he was using "theocratic war strategy," at least at first, and pretended not to be a jw, but someone who was asking a lot of questions about them.
he opened the conversation by asking if i wanted to discuss 'the meaning of life'.

I have a long time friend (inactive jw) who has for a number of years thought of 2004 as "a good time" for the big "A". I can't recall if he had a particular line of reasoning for this or if it was just pulling a number out of a hat. It'd be interesting to see what his current view is.

I just want to add my 2 shillings worth here...(I have NO clue how much that might be!). Trucker, thank you for coming all the way over here to visit! We didn't get to spend much time talking (I'm on the quiet side as well) but it was a pleasure having you ride with my brother, sister and I to the dinner on saturday night. I'm sorry you got crammed into the back seat but my sister won't give up the front for nobody. She just wont'! lol I suppose we could have Vicar napped you and held you captive just to listen to you speak but that wouldn't have been fair to you or the others now would it. Again, it was OUR pleasure having you along for the ride and I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Dallas!!!!
