I don't know when a JW with a job, family & meetings to contend with would ever find the time to meditate?

Health - has anyone else suffered long lasting health effects from years with the Borg?
by Chariklo indoes anyone else feel or know that jehovah's witnesses damaged their health?.
i know many have emerged with depression, and i'm very relieved that i am not one of them.. but, being the age i am, (a large tribe of grandchildren) i was nonetheless pressured to go out door to door in steep countryside often in bad weather, and because i was doing my best to keep up that ended in an injury which has proved to be long lasting.. and that's not counting the stress-induced consequences...i won't cite them all here, but physical.
a few days in hospital and a summer spent on compulsory almost complete rest can all be laid at the watchtower's door.the trauma of actually extricating oneself from the borg is not stopped when one has finally written that letter that disassociates oneself from them.

I had Depression & self harm as a child/teen ..which I would say was 100 percent related to being a witness & being so alone & anxious about Armageddon.
It took me a long time to learn how to look after my own health, so maybe neglect of my own health was a long lasting effect of being a JW.
Where I grew up, there were so many obese people in the congregation.
A lot self medicated with food or alcohol.
oh, and my feet are shot due to the hours I spent on field service & at meetings in inappropriate but pretty shoes! That's totally my fault though...vanity!!

Elders- Have any of You faded Because of participating in a JC where the Arguments from the accused made sense to you?
by truthlover ini know the question is long, but it has occured to me that there are a lot of newbies here but before that, many ex elders, some co and do's that are no longer jw's.... did the publishers comments at a jc about the misconceptions, dates, and lack of holy spirit, etc.
make sense to you and did you start thinking about the failed prophecies, fudging the "new light" etc.
which caused you to slowly fade away.. .

This is interesting, I never thought about the cost to the psyche of the elders who sit on the JC.
Im also amazed when I hear about people who go to the elders with problems, they really expect help? Or feel better for confessing their sins like in a Catholic Church? I feel like this is similar to going to the Police to confess a crime.
I feel sad for you guys too, not all elders obviously!!!! But I see how you are trying to do your best, they are always asking you to "reach out". Before you know it you are sitting in a JC, listening to things you don't want to hear, making decisions you don't want to make.
I'm sorry about this

First [brief] conversation w/elder for years
by AK - Jeff inin my area, i am labeled an 'active apostate', among other things i am sure.
i live in a very small town, and bump into elders who hate me beyond words.
if they could, i am sure they would gladly stone me before the entire villiage while chanting 'apostate, apostate.'.

What arrogance on behalf of that elder, not even a "hello" first? In his JW mind he has every right to speak to you, you have no feelings to be considered at all?
I second what Lois says, you guys are the men....they are I don't know what......malicious, unthinking infants!?

What if you simply IGNORED being disfellowshipped and continued as before?
by Terry ini know this is an odd idea.
maybe it is even silly.. but, i do daydream..... .
what if you were informed that you are disfellowshipped and you flashed a huge smile and said, "nah.".

by Terry inthe weather for february in texas can be punishing--but, not when apostates gather!.
it was at least 70 degrees and sunshine was spilling out of the heavens like copious golden coins from the fists of midas.. .
i assembled my crew of stalwarts before noon for the drive.

Jehovahs Witnesses LUNG TRANSPLANT YES TRANSFUSION NO
by Refriedtruth inhttp://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/25/us/bloodless-lung-transplants-for-jehovahs-witnesses.html?pagewanted=all.
'bloodless' lung transplants offer hint at surgery's future new york times-.
the reason: ms. tomczak, who was baptized at age 12 as a jehovah's witness, insisted for religious reasons that her transplant be performed .... major puff piece for watchtower propaganda at prestigious new york times stop breathe and think!

What the f**k? Why not trust in Jehovah & see her kids after the resurrection she believes will happen? Why take a organ from people whose only hope is In this world? Why give an organ to someone like this?
Did the article also say she is obese? Well, unless its from the meds she is on, why transplant to someone who is not looking after themselves? It's the same as giving lungs to a smoker.
Another example of not participating in the world & then using it when it suits you. This woman would have shunned those DF for having blood.
She would have let her kids die without a transfusion.
This makes me so mad!!! The hypocrisy of it is sickening, and this fawning article makes me want to vomit!
Sorry for the rage, but......I can't help it!!!!!!!!!

Welcome patient dude, I admire your ideas, but don't sell yourself short, it's a cliche but you only have 1 life, so please think about what's right for you ....and then do that.
What makes you happy? How do you like to spend your time? what are you good at?
look forward to hearing more from you!

Jws and psychotropics vs. Jws and psychology as a science
by cptkirk inneed to sleep, have finals to take this week, but i wanted to start this thread after i was writing a response to a different thread, this total contradiction dawned on me.
the jws sanction the members to take various prescription drugs for mental disorders small and large, but yet they deny the science of psychology, the same people who are giving them the drugs?
is that a total contradiction or what?

Psychology offends the very heart of the WTBTS by offering solutions which have nothing to do with the WTBTS.
For this reason they would rather have everyone on meds & binge drinking, whilst still attending meetings, or just keeping quiet!
