the year once 1983 and the brother who use to study the bible with me drove by and had a full on "charles manson" looking facial hair and beard.

My non-JW girlfriend said I looked good when I didn't shave for days before the next meeting and asked me to let my beard grow. So I did. This was before my awakening but even then I had heard of how you might find brothers wearing beards in some places and had tried to explain to my girlfriend why we couldn't have beards. Needless to say, I couldn't present a scriptural basis or logical reasoning for it.

Of course, some people in my congregation looked scared when they saw me, others patronized me and only a couple of friends said I looked good. Well, I 'awoke', saw the truth about the cult so couldn't give a flying toss anymore whether anyone in the congregation likes it, especially since I haven't been to the meetings since the end of last year.

My girlfriend likes it, she says I look better with the beard, and she reasons, "Didn't Jesus have one?"

i think with every year their are more and more newbies that identify with this site , would you like to say " hi ", if you have joined in the last 12 months ?.

does anybody have a graph of the numbers of newbies who have joined in say the last 5 years ?.

i think that would be interesting.

interesting meeting today.the do had the last talk and he mentioned a couple of things i have not heard before :.

1) the new lighter magazines are designed in a way to attract people to our website .

2)the ministry will change to incoprorate preacing in town centres and and with stands as in manhattan and certain brothers will be allocated to do this .so it is done now in a big scale ,organised.. 3)the qr codes at the back of the magazines are there for smart phone users to guide them directly to jw.org ,unlike bad old internet via laptops and pc's that you have to look for the website on google and sometimes end up in enemy websites that look like our website but are spreading lies about jw's (he said exactly that!

Jesus, that is so pathetic, Londo111 is right: it is way easier to just type jw.org.

Now, when are we getting an article on "Young People Ask: Smartphones--Do I Really Need One?" and questions like,

"Will I be able to afford the rates a 3G Internet connection? Will I have to work extra hours to pay for these? Would this time be better spent in the ministry? Will I be tempted to access pornographic websites and thus put my relationship with Jehovah in jeopardy? Even if I do go to apparently harmless websites, will I be able to control the time I spend surfing the Interweb [how some GB members sometimes think it's called] so as not to neglect more important things?

Jehovah's servants do well to consider such factors before making such an important decision, 'because the days are wicked.' "

That will be shortly before they publish the list of Websites Not To Go To and release an anti-apostate software that blocks you from accessing said websites...

the new light is a bit of give and take by the gb.

they have taken upon themselves the title of the faithful and discreet slave, in exchange for pushing the 'appointment over all of his [christ's] belongings' out into the future, and also in exchange for allowing the earthly class to be counted as 'domestics'.

the gb can now totally lord it as kings over the flock in exchange for having "dignified" them by including them as domestics.

If only any of the R&F dared to think just a little for themselves and wondered how is it that for all this time the 'great crowd' wasn't considered part of the domestics and now, just like that, in the snap of a finger, "Er, well, you know, we've been thinking and actually, yes! The Great Crowd can be considered part of the dometics!"

Where is the evidence/basis on which they base this 'new light' and then what was the evidence/basis on which they based the old one (i.e., the domestics are only anointed ones because only they are in the new covenant [?])?

If only they dared to consider these points from a logical point of view just for a little while.

hi there, as was suggested to me, i'm starting this thread to say hi to everyone.. my awakening began recently, after the new light on the 'slave'.

i felt it didn't add up and went to check and found out ttatt.

for a while i tried to find evidence of whether the wt might still be god's organization, i needn't say i couldn't.. i had already resigned as a ministerial servant and a pioneer, had already had several issues with the elders and did not put up with their nonsense for a long.

LOL Paul/Punkofnince, exactly. When I did my research recently and came across all the stupid generation changes I pinched myself and asked, "Where the hell were you when this happened and how come didn't you realize it sooner?" And then I remembered I was either just not going to meetings, or just trying to solve problems with elders whilst still trying to hang on to my faith. So, now with the New Light (TM) and all the research I did I found all the evidence I needed to see that a lot of the problems that happen inside the org are simply symptomatic of a sick mind-control cult.

God, that's right the GB gets ever more deluded as each day goes by. It's both hilarious and angering at the same time.

Yes, I am waking to the reality that whatever truth is out there has to stand up to scrutiny and be backed up by evidence. I am very open-minded now and I feel that I owe it to myself to research the Bible without WT bias and publications and test everything. I've got an agnostic girlfriend who is very pragmatic about these things, so it's good because her unbiased questioning perspective nudges me in the right direction.

I love this quote from the Sherlock Holmes stories:

"Circumstantial evidence is a very tricky thing. It may seem to point very straight to one thing, but if you shift your own point of view a little, you may find it pointing in an equally uncompromising manner to something entirely different."

Discovering the stability of REAL truth is quite a disturbing and refreshing journey. Keep at it, AH. You sound like you're enjoying the process.

It sure is, Irondork. I will. Oh, I really am. Keeping a low profile means controlling what I say and to whom, nevertheless, I do do some occasional sparring with a friend who is "waking" but still hangs on to the org mainly because all his friends are there. Well, it's funny to see that sometimes he can't win because he comes out with some WT indocrination crap which doesn't hold water when scrutinized and just drops the whole things.

WT crap doesn't stand up to close scrutiny. LOL

It's funny to see and compare the Watchtower's claims with Jesus's...

John 14:6 Jesus said to him: "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me ."

So Jesus says he is the truth, but the WT not only doesn't acknowledge him when speaking of understanding the bible, but also says they are the only ones through whom 'truth' can be understood:

"Thus the Bible is an organizational book and belongs to the Christian congregation as an organization, not to individuals, regardless of how sincerely they may believe that they can interpret the Bible. For this reason the Bible cannot be properly understood without Jehovah's visible organization in mind." Watchtower 1967 Oct 1 p.587

Another point I found on JWFacts.com, was that Jesus says that he is the only way to God, whereas the WT says...

"Through the new covenant, Jehovah makes blessings available to many by means of a few. Those in the covenant are few, a mere 144,000. Through them , millions from all nations will be blessed with everlasting life in an earthly paradise. Some who are in the new covenant serve Jehovah on earth today. They alone properly partake of the bread and the wine because the cup "means the new covenant."" Watchtower 2012 Mar 1 p.17

i was raised in and i am currently on active status due to most of my family being very much in, but i am so ready to be done and have felt that way for quite some time.

internally i know this is not the right religion without a doubt.
