Should Bethel Be Turned Into An Old Folks Home?

eventually with out sourcing of printing being more efficiantly and cheaply done, and the decrease in demand for printed material, what should be done with all those career bethelites that are past the age of 65?.

maybe they should just turn bethel into an retirement home for thoses that gave their all to the corporation.. maybe keep a few of the more attractive young brothers to do remakes of their famous masturbation no no videos for the closet gays on the governing body?

but, i'd like go at it from another angle in view of the above mentioned new light about the fds fora different reason.it was first in 1967 i began to discover that there are two watchtower societies.let me explain why i say this and for what reasons.first of all, anybody standing in a kingdom hall or sitting in a seat at a vast international assembly saw people they would identify as all on the same page.

I was a born in who really believed it was the truth, and I liked to read, study, and research to 'keep testing whether I was in the faith' and to 'make the truth my own'. And exactly what you described happened to me, I stood at a crossroads and could not comply anymore.

What I find very true in your post is that I have a very good friend who up to a point agrees with me a lot of things are wrong in the WT but he simply doesn't show me any concrete signs that he cares. He just goes through the motions, doesn't want to lose his friends now nor his ticket to paradise. He barely goes out in service or anything, but is semi-regular at the meetings.

He thinks I'm entitled to do what I want but not to upset the little consciences of others by speaking out against the WT, he expressed this view when I told him I was thinking of starting a blog to put my views in writing and available to anyone.

So he seems to fit your description of those who don't care.

But I'm sure there some in there who do and who need us. And that is why we do not keep silent.

That is why we do not give up on them.

It seems like the GB has not even bothered to explain what role if any the rest of the anointed have in the organization now that they have been demoted by them. Just sit tight and wait and if you behave and obey us then you'll also be appointed over the belongings (but WE are the FDS, not you).

It seems like taking Russell out of the big picture matches the change in the language coming from the WT now regarding their founder. I remember reading in chapters 1 and 2 of the Proclaimers book that Abel was the first JW, and Jesus was a JW too. But now an FAQ on JW.org says Jesus is the founder of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Also Cedars, it seems that until 1931 there was an editorial committee who was able to exercise some control over what was published in the magazines. Still, as president of the Society, is it correct to say that the ultimate authority on doctrinal matters rested solely with Rutherford? If so, that would make him the FDS.

In the Olin Moyle trial court transcript, page 865, we can read Fred Franz's very own words that in 1931 the committee was disbanded because it was not allowing what were felt to be 'timely and vital truths originating from him to be disseminated to the Lord’s people'. From that point forward, there was nothing even remotely resembling a governing body as we know it today. Doctrine published in the Watchtower came from or was filtered and approved by Rutherford.

Yes carla, I know a lot of brothers, including elders, who had no clue what they were talking about and if you knew your Watchtower, meaning if you read a lot and remembered a lot of the BS the WT writes you could throw them off balance for their lack of research or unpreparedness...now, is that what Jesus meant with, "I want mercy, not sacrifice." (I don't believe in Jesus as a perfect superhuman son of God anymore, by the way)

The primary thing they have got wrong is the matter of who should partake, of course it should be all who follow Christ,

I agree Phizzy, if I were to follow the bible, a Christian religion, if I still believed it or were even still in as a JW (I'm a fader) I would partake, that is what Jesus clearly said his followers should do.

I really do not believe the exact timing is a salvation issue, or physically partaking. I mean, you should if you can, but what if you were in prison with no access to the emblems? I think you heart condition matters the most. Then partaking is an outward symbol of your faith, like baptism.

Also, I do not believe it is a once a year thing. There is no proof that Christians only celebrated once a year, although the WTBT$ makes that assertion.

I agree DATA-DOG, even in my last years in I believed Jehovah and Jesus were much more merciful than the WT would have us believe, especially since I felt I was blessed when my standing in the congregation was in jeopardy because I didn't take BS from the elders. I believed Jehovah blessed me for doing what was right, not for pleasing men. So yes, if I were trying to please God, I believed he would understand my circumstances as you exemplify if I were in a prison cell and couldn't get emblems or something close to them. And I'm not sure I could 'prove' from the bible why it should be an annual observance. Mind you, in my last months in I couldn't prove a lot of WT doctrines from the bible!
