It does not sound like religion in government to me. It sounds like an office dedicated to protecting religious freedoms for all--something guaranteed in Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the U.S.' Bill of Rights, and the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Defending freedom of religion for all isn't "religion in government" in any meaningful way in my opinion. Those are liberal values.

We need to admit that kids do not need to go to our schools to be educated. One of the largest education trends is middle class parents taking kids out of school. The most expensive private schools model a homeschool environment because kids can learn through self-directed exploration. They don’t need school.

Middle class parents recognize this and don’t want their kids to suffer through an antiquated education system that was established to educate kids to be factory workers.

Obama is pouring more money into the idea that kids need to be in classrooms in order to learn. In fact, kids learn better outside of classrooms. We already know this, we just don’t have the money to fund it.

School in the US is for poor kids . Underprivileged kids are the kids who have to sit through standardized tests when they should be playing . The movement in this country to get kids out of the standardized tests is solidly middle-class . Let’s have universal protests about the stupidity of school instead of universal pre-K. Let’s enable lower-income kids to have the benefit of being told their time is too precious to sit in school all day.

In regards to hiding from allegedly " civilized " human beings for hundreds of years , it's no real stretch to say that an intelligent human type of being could do so. In recent years there have been legitimate scientific discoveries of pygmy tribes, or remote Indian tribes long hidden in South America that NOBODY knew existed.

Sure, but that's S America. We are talking about North America here. It isn't the Amazon rain forest, and the country has been thoroughly explored.

Kids are in school for about 6-7 hours a day. How much of that is really spent learning? Not much. It's mostly day care. Around here, homeschoolers are organized into circles. The kids visit a different home each day, as a group. Some parents specialize in one subject, others in other subjects. Moreover, it is a group activity, so students get to socialize with others their own age. There are pluses and minuses to that. From what I've seen, the local kids I've met are better educated than the average of those educated by the public sector drones in what is often really a glorified day care program, and all of them are college bound and have high test scores. (Yes, I know there are good teachers, but as a former public school system employee I've seen the bad ones too).

From my personal experience, outside of higher maths and a vo-tech program I was enrolled in, I learned NOTHING academically from school from about the 9th grade on--and I was AP in everything. It was all fluff...but I was mostly a self directed learner by nature and would spend my free time gobbling up books from the local library on everything from science to history. I never did any homework, skipped lots of classes, but I always aced the tests, so I ended up with a C average. I never missed vo-tech however...I actually learned things there. It was interesting.

The most important job in the world for parents is to prepare our children. It's too important of a job for us to simply leave to the state.

The Vatican is an independent nation. There is no need for Benedict XVI to go seek immunity from any other party.

ITCCS, from which this allegation is sourced (and that is the only source I see), is a fake entity created by someone who started a website with an impressive sounding name. It's allegations are just that.
