  Our Own Conference

  i know there are conferences that xjws attend, but since i ran accross joy castro's writings and new book today it got me thinking about the subject.

  something non-religious in nature.....well as non religious as xjws can get anyway lol.

  i think it would be cool if we could have people like her, kimberly norris, bryan, donald, and so many of the others that have done stuff for us.

  I was laying around in bed this afternoon..lol and I just thought to myself IF I was going to put together such a thing I have the perfect place. Right in the middle of downtown Dallas... It would probably cost nothing to have such an event at my college. We have plenty of classrooms and a sizeable auditorium, not to mention plenty of hotels around in walking distance, restuarants etc.. There are some advantages to working in the same place for more than 10 years you know... That would take a rather large chunk of cost out of the way too..

  I would still like ideas for content and am thinking of some categories much like we have specific forum areas here. For instance if we had some readings from work like Father's Touch, or maybe even some scenes from the play about JWs that opened in NYC, I really think it would bring the humanistic side of our issues to the fore and make an excellent addition to the other subjects we could present.

  Would it turn into a - smoke weed, get high, drink as much beer as you can - fest? If so, no thanks. :(

  Don't even try and be a smartass with me.. If wasn't serious and just wanted a party I wouldn't have bothered..

  Serial Killing More Common Among White Boys

  yep that's right if you are a white boy you are most probably a serial killer, because richard ramirez and wayne williams were only flukes.

  never you mind anyone on the planet could be a potential serial killer, all we know at this point is most of the ones we have caught are whiteys...see?

  Thanks Brenda and if I were to decide on arranging something I will keep you in mind. One of the things I was thinking is that a city with several major universities would offer an audience that would be interested in the legal, psychological, and religious studies involving the Witnesses and cults in general.

  I know there are conferences that XJWs attend, but since I ran accross Joy Castro's writings and new book today it got me thinking about the subject. Something non-religious in nature.....well as non religious as XJWs can get anyway lol. I think it would be cool if we could have people like her, Kimberly Norris, Bryan, Donald, and so many of the others that have done stuff for us. All that artistic material would make for some really good presentations I think. Maybe also have panel discussions over the various topics we hash out like the blood issue, biblical dates, sexual abuse, etc. The cool thing is that we could have a conference and then instead of going to distribute mags at unsuspecting laundromats, we could have some Apostafest action to boot! So, if you were going to such a thing who would be on your program? Also, for those of you who have planned conferences before any advice or tips that can help the conversation are most welcome.
