Looking for a certain image
by magotan inhey, i'm looking for a certain image.
it's one of the more dopey series of images from about five years ago.
about a "sister" who goes off the rails and she gets counseled and she's dressing all "immodestly" which is really just a streak of color in her hair.

Hey, I'm looking for a certain image. It's one of the more dopey series of images from about five years ago. About a "sister" who goes off the rails and she gets counseled and she's dressing all "immodestly" which is really just a streak of color in her hair. Then she's trying to study and get back and she has a baby and her unbelieving "husband" is on the couch passed out.
thanks in advance; i know I've seen them here a few days ago but I can't remember where

No 'Tight Pants' policy is now official - classed as 'disturbing'
by wizzstick inin short:- tight pants is no longer just a am3 hang up (or is that a hang up on the well hung?
)- brothers who have effeminate body language are flagged up- as are sisters with 'masculine' hair styles or dress- such dress is 'disturbing to the congregation'- the above must heed the (repeated) counsel from the elders...or they get stripped of the right to share on the ministry- however...this will not be revealed (announced) to the congregation.
wow.

People on the outside will care, body and behavior policing is not the thing to do these days. -

Like I said, it's not a dress code issue. It's a behavior policing issue. Young men and women are always thrown to the wolves, and locked out of social circles, or platform assignments and told they aren't trying hard enough when they're doing their best because of some arbitrary gauge of masculinity or femininity. It's very much cult like; everyone is to act and look the same. -

It's another way that the GB uses control to make people fall in line.
its a serious issue, maybe not as big as pedophiles or blood ban, but a very big issue nonetheless.

Simon, i think you're off base, and I generally only lurk on this site and I literally logged in after a year to comment
- growing up queer/gay, I often was policed on not only how I dressed, but how I walked, talked, and acted. I did not intentionally act more feminine or masculine, but I simply did things that the JW's considered "feminine". This meant that despite any sort of "spiritual qualifications" i still was passed over for assignments, and had limited contact with other members of the congregation because of the PERCEPTION of my sexuality due to my mannerisms.
It ruined my teens and made me feel like I was not enough and made me hate myself.
Its more than clothes, in fact, it's not about clothes at all. It's about image, and it's about control. Clothing isn't the big deal. Policing someone's being is.

What are the feelings/thoughts within 24-48 hours of exposure to an undeniably true (for you) TATT?
by NeverKnew inmany of us know where we were during 9/11 or when john kennedy and martin luther king were killed.. it seems that when faced with ttatt, real truth is dismissed as "ol' light" or "an imperfect group of men" but from what i gather, many of you, at some point, were hit with a component of ttatt that shattered all of those cliches that allowed you to brush off the obvious reality that something was very wrong.
some of you may remember the hours following your earliest exposures to an undeniably true tatt.
did you zone completely out?

Extreme heartbreak, coupled with a strange sense of relief. I went to a meeting the next day or so, and it was surreal.
Meetings became entertaining because I could easily see the lies. After they stopped being entertainng, they became both sad and frustrating.

Interesting comments from a certain JW forum...
by konceptual99 inthese are snippets from a thread on change to circuit boundaries in the us please don't assume a single narrative here.. well, we just had a letter tonight saying that the branch has decided to dissolve 2 of the ohio circuits, one being ohio circuit #3 which i am in.
ohio circuit #3 will continue to exist until the new service year in september, at which point the congregations making up our circuit will be redistributed to other current circuits.
we'll be moving to ohio circuit #8.. interestingly, our sister congregation with whom we share the same hall was assigned to a completely different circuit, along with a lot of others we are used to seeing at our assemblies.

I used to be in Circuit 3 when I left about a year ago. I wonder which congos were dissolved.
I am one of many that have left the org, and there are so many people who simply just want to GTFO out of Northeast Ohio.

Two circuits in Ohio dissolved!
by kneehighmiah inannounced that two ohio circuits are to be dissolved including 5 congregations.
congregations in the dissolved circuits will be assigned to two existing circuits.
the excuse the letter offered is that people are moving, or that people are retiring and leaving the area.

Holy shit, Circuit 3 was my old circuit.
Do you happen to know what congregations are being phased out?

Board of bitterness
by 1009 ini always was a critical jw, now df and agnost.
but still this religion fascinates me.
in my eyes most jw are very sincere, but dumb sheep.. this board is filled with ex-jw.

Quite honestly, if there were no shunning policies, I don't think these boards would exist. If people were more free to really figure out what they want in life, without the reprecussions of shunning, things would be so much simpler. Suicides due to shunning, all sorts of problems, wouldn't exist.
