Officially Disassociated Tonight
by Princess insteve and i attended our very last meeting this evening.
i wrote a thread a few weeks ago about our elder visit and their decision to announce that we were disassociated.
they agreed to wait until we returned from our vacation so i could tell my grandma who still attends via phone link and so she wouldn't have to be alone in her devastation.

Were You Ever a Member of the Secret Police?
by Swan ina lot of experiences have been written about elders spying on people, tailing them in cars, etc.
i think this may have once happened to me, but am not sure if my intuition was correct or if my mind was just playing tricks.
i sometimes have some paranoia as a result of the trauma of being in the jws, so i am not sure what to believe.

JWs I wish you were right in the fact that Elders don't have time for these things, but unfortunelty some do. My dad was SOO involved in WTS stuff that he really wasn't around a lot growing up. He was at meetings almost every night with some commitee or other, and we'd get phone calls around the clock and sometimes he'd have to leave in the middle of the night. Elders do stakeouts when they need to see if someone 'stays the night' at someones house. I've heard them talk about it.
When they wanted us out 2 years ago they sent us certified mail weekly and staked our house out. I could see a car accross the grass in the back yard where there was an empty lot. It would drive up and park, then turn the lights off and sit there for hours (they were trying to see if we were in town). It was kreepy but I knew it was them, almost made me want to drive over with some coffee and my itenerary for the week hahahha. It actually came out in our trial that they actually had been. They even knew where we'd gone for breakfast on a certain day. It was Very weird!!!!
I bet they were all fighting over 'during meeting' duty.

I have the complete Falty Towers Box Set . I think it's diff to the 'flying circus' it's more of a higher class humor then the stupid/slapstick which I love as well.
I also have several of the 'Police Squad' epsoides which were the precurseors to the Naked Gun movies.

Here is where we used to go dancing. It's the Historic 'Crystal Ballroom' in Portland Or. It has the only floating dance floor left in the US. The hardwood floor is bouncy and is great for dancing, and puts a real spring in your step. It's a beautifull old room on the 4th floor.
Taking their conceptualization of airiness to an uncommon level, Tegen and Ringler incorporated a special "floating" floor into the ballroom's design. This unusual floor consisted of a layer of beautiful maple boards, under which were laid a series of rockers (like those of a rocking chair). Ball bearings were attached to the two ends of each rocker. The action of this mechanical device was a very fluid, up-and-down movement, which could be adjusted by a ratcheted gear to best suit different dance styles. Testimonials of many long-time dance patrons of the ballroom claim it was "like dancing on a cloud."
A 1961 Oregon Journal article suggests that Ringler's architect, Robert Tegen, built three other ballrooms with "floating" floors: one in Chicago, another in Los Angeles, and the third in New York. However, according to the article, the Crystal's floor was the only one to have survived into the 1960s.

Hey Estee we used to do all those dances too. Ballroom esp swing got real big in the NW a few years back. Mu uncle had taught me to dance when I was in grade school and I'd always loved the old musicals and Fred and Ginger, so I grew up with the music. I luv Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Elington, the Dorsey's, Lionel Hampton ohhh too many to number. I also like a lot of the newer bands that have the old sound. My fav's are the 'Squirrell Nut Zippers', 'Cherry Popping Daddies', Brian Sezter....well you get the idea. I used to listen to the tapes of Cherry Poppin Daddies when they were just a garage band from Eugene OR, we'd listen at school and dance around it was soo great to hear their music a few years later on the radio I was like hey wait I know this 'New' song. If you've never heard of or danced to Squirell Nut Zippers you just have to they do everything from swing, charleston, gypsy, polka, blues everything and have a wonderful style. I think they're from the Carolinas and did the Dick Clark New Years show a few years ago.
I love to swing, but it's been sooooo long since I've gone or had someone to swing with

by JH inshouldn't it have been the person who gave you your bible study, that should have baptized you?
in matthew 28:19,20 it says "go therefore and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit.. the way i see it, it should have been the one who gave you the biblical knowledge, that should have baptized you.
making disciples is phase one, and baptizing them is phase two.
