I'm sorry to hear that. Never easy to lose a parent and especially at your age. Your life is so special and you have a lot to accomplish still! In addition to calling the Suicide Prevention Hotline, you can also text a counselor at any time by messaging 741741.

So I thought I'd provide an update (for my own sanity I guess). Everyone's responses were helpful. I met up with my best friend who is still an avid witness to explain my situation because we have a concert next month that I at least still wanted to go to. Explained to her that I was depressed and taking a break from it all for a bit. That was last night and she didn't really say much, but it seemed OK.
Tonight she emailed me. It was nice and genuine. She reminded me of her love for me and most importantly Jehovah's love for me. She will not be holding close association with me, however, and will not be going to the concert. I gave her a short and sweet response that this wouldn't be a good religion is she didn't have to do that and that I will have an awesome time without her even though I will miss her.
This all is quite irritating. Indoctrination runs deep.

Hi Rulehayl,
I am not sure about your circumstances (age, if you have JW family, how you began studying, etc.) but I will just begin by sharing my own experience. I started studying about 12 years ago when I was 15. I went to high school with JWs and hung out with them a lot. During this time, I started attending meetings, assemblies, and conventions. When I decided to get baptized, I had to give up all holidays and my relationship with my worldly family was changed drastically.
I progressed well in the organization, serving as a regular pioneer and ministerial servant, even giving public talks. Despite my seemingly "strong faith" and the privileges I enjoyed in the congregation, I began to do research about the history and policies of Jehovah's Witnesses. I recommend you do that as well, before you make the decision to get baptized. Know that it is very difficult to leave the organization if you begin to question the things you are being taught. The truth is that the faithful and discreet slave gives new light constantly, changing doctrines that impact our lives significantly.
A good place to begin you research is jwfacts.com and youtube videos of Witnesses who have spent their entire lives in the religion and left. Also, Crisis of Conscience is a book written by former (disfellowshipped) Governing Body member Raymond Franz, and it's worth reading a free pdf online.
I'm sure you have a wonderfully close relationship with your Study Conductor, but if you tell them you are on this site or any other site that is critical of JW's, they will instantly thwart you from doing so.
Just do research, research, research about this religion. Don't get stuck in it unless you are absolutely sure what you're getting into. Take it from me - After giving a short portion of my life (relatively) to this, I face being shunned by all my friends (100% of my social support system), all because I my beliefs and faith has changed.

2018 Memorial and Special Talk Speculation
by SplaneThisToMe inso we all know that the special talk titled "who really is jesus christ?
" will be given before the memorial next year which is very new.
also new this year is that the special talk will be prerecorded and given by a branch committee member rather than a brother from the local congregation.

So we all know that the special talk titled "Who Really Is Jesus Christ?" will be given before the Memorial next year which is very new. Also new this year is that the special talk will be prerecorded and given by a branch committee member rather than a brother from the local congregation.
Does anyone else think that this will be an opportunity for the organization to turn the hose on the 144,000 doctrine either saying that everyone should partake or that only the Governing Body can partake or something else along those lines? From the words of Jesus at John 6:53, only those who eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood have life in them. Whatever they do, I expect it to address the concerns about the growing number of partakers in previous years, making it so they no longer need to publish the number in the Field Service Report (which supposedly will be posted online since the Yearbook is discontinued).
Does anyone else have any ideas?

This Just In: Worilds' first day serving at Bethel (Fishkill) was some time this week! I heard from a trusted source that is in his circuit in North Carolina. I guess his mother is a JW, so he's continuing in the religion of his birth.

Thank you for sharing! I remember a WT article a few years ago that said the Catholic Church was being exposed the "men of lawlessness" because of all the scandals going on! Does it seem like God is exposing the truth about WTBTS now? I think so...

Hello! This is my first post and hopefully I can get some advice and input. I have been actively involved with the organization for a little over 10 years now. I began studying in high school, got baptized and my family fortunately did not. While in the organization I had many privileges including regular pioneering and serving as a ministerial servant. I also made very close friends who make up 98% of my current social system.
For a year now, I have examined the teachings, history and policies of the organization deeply. Obviously, when a JW loses his or her fear of information and reads from credible sources outside of the Watchtower publications, their eyes are opened up to what is actually true. With that said, I don't want to go back.
My problem is that I don't want to hurt my friends in the organization either. So I have asked my COBE to delete me as a ministerial servant and I have made him aware that I don't plan to attend meetings or participate in field service any more. The elders are aware that I had doubts before and that I was planning to leave. It seems as though they are going to allow me to fade away into inactivity as long as I don't disrupt the congregation with apostasy.
The announcement of my deletion hopefully will be made soon. I know whenever the friends don't see me at a few meetings, I am going to begin getting usual amounts of texts, phone calls, and unannounced visits at my house.
Does anyone have experiences like this? What were you able to say to the friends to get them to leave you alone without the potential of saying something/acting like an apostate?
