I was pretty slack actually. Never donated too much monetarily. A few bucks here and there when I had cash in my pocket, but hardly ever ever wrote a check. Special occasions only for checks, like remodel expenses or something like that.
For some reason, I didn't want a record of my donation amounts kept by writing checks once a month. I know, it was paranoid, but I didn't want it easy to notice if I missed a month, or if I changed the amount. By leaving a record, I might be setting myself up for being counseled if they could show that I was being stingy, so I only dropped cash in the box every so often. And even then it wasn't much. Just enough to salve the conscience.
