  Growing up in a fairly strict family, even in JW standards, I was somewhat of an outcast among other JW kids. But, I was considered exemplary by the adults, a good little dubbie kid. Then I was out on my own. Loosened up, got a little more worldly, though still an obedient dub. Made friends easier among the young adult group. Slipped in my service and reaching out. Wasn't so exemplary. Eventually removed as MS. Rebounded somewhat, became a little more serious about it, became exemplary again, but then my eyes were opened and I started my fade. No more friends, no longer exemplary, completely invisible

  Another sad non jw falling for a baptised jw girl story

  ok ,so this is my story , this jw girl came on vacation in my country as a friend of my girl-cousin who is not a jw but were classmates at uni .

  my cousin introduced her to me but she didnt tell me that she was a jw from the very first moment we flirt each other.we went on beach ,on bars ,cafes etc and she acted so wordly ,in fact i thought she could be a good one night stand with her behaviour .never saw anything weird about her that could lead me to question something, with the peak in the club where we danced together while hugging very passionatly .

  i tried to kiss her that night but she kept her distance , i didnt notice any bad on that.anyway, next day we flirt again at the the beach and at night too .

  Dude... No means no

  She had herself a little fling, JW style, hurt you and then used the ole JW, "it's not me, it's you" and she moved on. Now it's your time to move on. Yea, it hurts, but lesson learned. And be glad you didn't get really hooked up with this girl and all her JW dysfunctionalisms. Trust us on that one...

  Another visit from the elders

  so i have another visit from the elder this week.

  this time they want to speak with my wife, still a believer and myself.

  i think they want to know my position about my children attending the meetings and some other things.. while preparing myself for it i though of a challenge for the elders and my wife.

  Don't waste your time with those numbnut elders. The only thing they know is what they're told to know. They don't think. They don't reason. They react...and they react as the WTS has taught them to. They will not be able to fill in the blanks on how doctrine has changed. In their mind, it has never changed. Any challenge to them will be ignored. They're not there to listen to you...they're there to either straigten you out, convert you or convince you to allow them to train your children in their cult religion.

  If you are not a JW, if you're an unbelieving mate, just tell them it's none of their business regarding what you will or will not allow our children to do. As an unbeliever, you don't accept their theology, nor their authority over your household.

  If you're a fader, well, you're going to have to tread more lightly, if you're trying to stay faded. Though if they're wanting your permission for the kids to attend, I'm guessing that you're not a baptized JW.

  Even if you choose to spar with them over WT doctrine, do yourself a long term favor and do not give anyone explicit permission to push the WT religion on your children. Even if you allow them to attend certain meetings here and there, make sure they attend other services elsewhere, for comparison's sake. Give them room to grow and experiment on their own path of spirituality.

  my mother-in-law has a strange obsession with calendars, and orders the society's calendar each year.

  this year's calendar is especially weird.

  it features images depicting future events - in particular, the society's vision of the new world order.. i've taken the opportunity to scan some of the images for you all to check out.. please note - there are captions for each of the images, but i don't have the english language version of the calendar so i'd rather just quote the scripture used so as not to reveal which country i'm in.. .

  i'm not even remotely a cycling fan, but all this controversy made it a bit difficult to simply ignore.

  i'm curious to see how he does when those questions come at him full force.

  And people still believe in them. And people will continue to worship Lance Armstrong.

  Personally I don't care. I will say this... if doping was so prevalant in their sport and 'everyone' was doing it, then doesn't that mean that Lance Armstrong still beat them fair and square?

  Elders finally took me to the back room...

  after several months of leaving the meetings as soon as they ended or only staying for "the first meeting" then leaving the "second part", the elders finally cornered me at last night's meeting.. they said they were concerned about me and that being that i am a young brother in a recently divided congregation they saw so much potential in me to help out the congregation and become a ms.. i told them i was thankful for their thinking of me to help the congregation but that at the moment i could not due to my job.

  then the began asking personal questions that got on my nerves.. they asked where i worked and how much i made.

  they asked if i was going to college and what i was studying and for how long.

  Quick thinking with the app.

  The first part of the conversation wasn't too out of line. Encouraging a young brother to reach out, especially in a new congregation that needs brothers. Even if you don't believe in WT crap, you can understand that's probably a typical scenrio in most churches.

  But it crossed the line when they started asking personal questions. They were making assumptions that since you weren't naturally reaching out eagerly that there just had to be something holding you back. So when you weren't forthcoming with details, they started interrogating you. And to anyone reading this who isn't familiar with congregation procedures, this is a typical situation. I've been through similar myself.

  In our current situation, free of the cult, it's easy to say, "tell em to F*** off" and odds are most of us would do that now, in those exact words no less. But back when we were in, we wouldn't have done that. We would have danced around the issue, maybe not answering them directly but not really standing up to them either. I mean, they're spirit appointed elders. Don't grieve the holy spirit and all that shit.

  Does Django Unchained encouraged racism? Did Blazing Saddles? A straight up comedy/satire that made fun of racism but in order to do it, had to actually embrace the use of racist words, sayings and actions to get the point across.

  Tarantino's movie are dark comedies (with some good revenge plots) that don't mind using the same techniques to get his point across. Sometimes it's pure entertainment, sometimes he's making a point, sometimes he wants to rewrite history and have the right people win.
