New light Watchtower magazine leaked from organization weeks ahead of general release
by cedars inhttp://jwsurvey.org/governing-body-2/new-light-watchtower-magazine-leaked-from-organization-weeks-ahead-of-general-release.
if doctrinal explanations are missing from the article, it is because they are also missing from the magazine.. i would like to give my thanks again to my source for supplying me with the magazine article weeks ahead of its scheduled release.
it showed remarkable courage, because risks were taken.

My thoughts and observations re: the Memorial
by 144001 inwhile sitting through my annual visit to a kingdom hall tonight, i had the following thoughts/observations:.
1. the speaker appealed to the kids: "how many here are 15 years of age or younger?
" he then went on to tell us how exciting it would be to "lie down" with lions that eat straw instead of flesh, and further discussed jw kids napping with leopards, bears, and cattle.

sitting through my annual visit to a kingdom hall tonight
LOL... me too. Memorial season is the one time of year where family go out of their way to coerce me to go. Instead of creating fights and resentment, I go. Some years I get out of it, some years, not so much. But, it's one hour. Big Deal.
I pay attention more to the Memorial talk now, than I ever did when I was 'in'. And when you actually pay attention and use critical thinking, you realize just how illogical the whole thing is. It don't make a lick of sense.
The talk seems to veer further and further away from Jesus each year. Very little was actually said about him, other than the sacrifice he made for me and you. Hell, Adam got as much attention as Jesus. And then a large portion of the talk is about who partakes and why you don't. An equally large portion is geared to making you look forward to paradise, as a distraction from actually thinking through the illogic of it all.
Here's one thing that stood out to me - they didn't announce how many partook last year. In fact, they said very little about the actual class of partakers, other than trying to explain how they know they're of the anointed. Maybe because I know about the definition change of the Faithful and Discreet Slave it jumped out at me, but it seemed like the first step in devaluing the anointed remnant as a special class. This kind of ties into the 'two hopes' thing mentioned by others. Instead of a F&DS class that has heavenly hope and is of special importance, they're bringing the anointed (no longer the F&DS) down to our level, except they have a heavenly hope as opposed to everyone else's earthly one. Two hopes, equal significance. Only the GB, as the F&DS class, are looked to as having special significance.
In years past, they used to read a lot from the actual gospels, explaining how Jesus' last days ended and his talk with his apostles and his last prayer with them. Not anymore. They only read one or two scriptures from Luke and the rest is from 1 Corinthians and Isaiah...that's right Isaiah...and the 144,000 one in Revelation (how they do jump around).
I don't know 'bout y'all - but I thought the memorial of someone's death was about, you know, the one that died. Not the JW Memorial of Jesus' death. It's a bait and switch. Get you in on the premise of one thing and then turn it around to something else.
In short - it's a cult.

So...Did Judas Leave Before the Lord's Evening Meal?
by undercover inyes, it's that time of year, once again, when the society starts reliving jesus' last few days on earth as a human.... in addition to all the propaganda about the 144,000 and only they being "allowed" to partake of jesus' blood and body at the annual jw deny christ ritual...another jw teaching, though not as dissected, is the teaching that judas iscariot left the room before the bread and wine were shared with the apostles.. it's important to jw doctrine that this be the case.
because only those who make up the true christian congregation, the annointed, the first of these the faithful apostles, are to partake of these emblems.
if jesus was already aware of judas' plan to betray him and yet judas was present for this new, important ritual, it would be rendered useless by his partaking.

Luke himself was not present at that event. His account is hearsay only. He totally could have been wrong on the order of events.
Well, then if he got his facts wrong, or mis-heard the story, or rememebered it wrong later, and then recorded it wrong, that brings into question of just how inspired the Bible is... If you can just claim, 'oh, they made mistake, this is what really happened, because I have special communication with God" ( you know, like the GB), then it's all BS

Notes from 2013 Memorial talk: Appreciate What Christ Has Done for You
by WinstonSmith intook one for the team tonight, and went along to the memorial.
my first time in a kingdom hall for just over a month.
it was as expected, dry, boring and extremely uninteresting.

Both groups benefit from the ransom sacrifice, but only the ones with the heavenly hope partake. This is because Jesus set this covenant with his close followers, ones who would be in the kingdom with him.
The close followers formerly known as the Faithful and Discreet Slave, but who have since been demoted by the Governing Body. Give em a couple years and no one but the GB will be allowed to partake...

Seven Thousand Year Creative Day still being taught (as of 2005)
by VM44 inhere is a photo of a gilead instructor (br.
liverance) teaching a class on chronology.. the photo appears in a blog entry dated 5-21-2005.. note the "6,000" and "1,000" periods in the timeline drawn on the whiteboard.. i thought the 7,000 year creative day was no longer taught, but apparently it still is at gilead, at least in the year 2005.. (picture cannot be embedded here for some reason, so here is the link to it).

From the Reasoning book quote that was mentioned earlier, it's apparent that the WTS is reduced to explaining that since it is indisputable that the earth and heavens are millions of years old, the 7 creative days of 7,000 years each (49,000 years) does not apply to the actual planet or the heavens...
*** rs p. 88 Creation ***
Genesis 1:3-31 is not discussing the original creation of matter or of the heavenly bodies. It describes the preparation of the already existing earthfor human habitation. This included creation of the basic kinds of vegetation, marine life, flying creatures, land animals, and the first human pair. All of this is said to have been done within a period of six “days.”
The WTS conveniently ignores this verse, which torpedoes the above reasoning:
Exodus 31:17 "'Between me and the sons of Israel it is a sign to time indefinite, because in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth and on the seventh day he rested and proceeded to refresh himself.’” -

Is God's Name Yahweh or Jehovah?
by Soldier77 inhttp://www.catholic.com/quickquestions/is-gods-name-yahweh-or-jehovah.
subject title refers to the link that i found in another thread, somewhat buried in text, but i thought it deserved to be highlighted.
take the time to read it if you can and just sit and think about it for a second, think about all of the hate and disgust jw's have for the cc and just let that truth settle in.. amazing really.
