Did they specify what this 14 dollars was for.
They'll never let on that it's for the 'Have to Pay Those Pesky Lawsuits" fund
so i sat and suffered through the clam tonight.. everything was pretty much as dull, repetitious, and simple-minded as i have come to expect, but i was really struck by the mind-numbing idiotic comments made during the part about shunning family.. then came the book study (no real bible use) loaded with self-congratulatory b.s about how wt never has, and never will beg, solicit, or ask for money.
i could feel myself beginning to channel the old tasmanian devil cartoon character as i listened to that garbage while remembering the jdubya tv shows about how more money was going out than coming in and give more.
but finally came the most ironic (to me) part of the entire meeting and i could not help bursting out in a loud belly laugh that got me many dirty looks and heavy frowns.

wt state that the global flood that wiped everything away happened in 2370 bce.. there's been a wealth of evidence from many quarters which prove that life continued as normal for civilizations during that time period.. now scotland adds to that body of evidence as detailed in this bbc report:.
neolithic orkney - new study.
key dates indicated by the study.
The trouble with Scotland is that it's full of Scots
I always chuckle at that when Edward Longshanks says it in Braveheart. I love Scotland and the Scots though.
Oh yeah, this is about evidence that makes the Bible Flood non factual. While you'll never 'win' an argument with a true believer, it can plant seeds that germinate later. Present the facts, allow the facts to speak for themselves. Even if they don't accept them from you, you evil apostate, they may later stumble onto similar info from another source not as likely to trigger the defense mechanism.
elder and his wife build a flash house.. they go on the stage at an assembly and give an experiences of how they sold the flash house to simplify their life so they can go pioneering.. the real story.. elder and wife can't afford the flash house and have to sell it he never goes pioneering she does until they are declared bankrupt.. why were they bankrupt?.
the money leaft over from the flash house they invested in a yet to be build apartment and the developer goes bankrupt takeing their money.. just one of many.. karter..
Being that I'm relating this experience on 9-11, it would be fitting to tell a little story heard at a special assembly talk right after the towers fell.
The Bethel elder told the story of a JW who had for years tried to get a job at a company headquartered in one of the towers. He had been hired over on several occasions when finally he was offered a job. But - he had a problem, he had also agreed to attend some special pioneer school (don't remember the detail of the school). It coincided with the same week he was to start his new job. What to do, what to do...
He prayed (of course) to Jehovah, and decided his spiritual education was more important than his dream job, so he turned the job down in order to attend the school.
Now the speaker used this to show how putting spiritual things first safeguards you from peril. I called bullshit then, and even now when I think of it, it makes my blood boil. Because 13 (I think it was 13) JWs died that day, one of them a firefighter with the FDNY, who rushed to the towers to try to save lives. I had met him personally, and though we weren't friends, he was friends with friends of mine. To have this self righteous prick stand up there and imply that a JW's life was saved because he turned down a job at the towers was an insult to any other JWs who died that day, especially the guy I met who lost his life trying to help others.
I was already questioning things, struggling with the cognitive dissonance, but this bullshit story used to try to scare us into more service pushed me even further away. It was my last time ever inside that assembly hall.
i was reading a post on here and the poster said she went to the door twice because her mother made her go again when she didn't see her children talk to the man.
the poster said, "at least i got an rv out of it.".
ok, its been a few years, but for the first time i thought of "recreational vehicle" and not "return visit" when i read this.
I still remember some of the lingo from the old days. If I hear my JW famliy speak of RVs, I know what it is, but if I'm in a 'normal' setting and someone says RV, I know they're not going on a 'back call'.
I'm out of touch with some of the new lingo. I kept seeing the term CLAM recently. I had to ask what is a CLAM, besides a tasty morsel. Christian Life and Ministry, I think was the answer. Replaced the Ministry School or Service Meeting, not sure which...
And the bossman elder has a new term. He's called COBE Bryant or sumthin...
so ... situation:.
a baptized married couple, with no privileges that we know of, have opened their home to 2 unmarried regular pioneers because of the pioneers' financial issues (limited income).. - husband works from home.
- wife doesn't work and stays home or in service.
Probably is a matter of reputation. Unmarried singles from the opposite sex living under one roof.
that was my first thought as well. Charity comes in a distant 2nd or 3rd to the reputation of the Organization. If any charity or good deeds can bring into even the slightest question as to some untoward conduct, then it's best to avoid.
So, for argument sake, let's say the pioneers leave this couple's home. They both find apartments elsewhere. Just so happens those apartments are in the same building. An old Victorian home turned into 4 or 5 apartments. What then? They're still 'technically' under the same roof, though in separate 'rooms'. No real difference than bunking in the couples home - is it? Where's the line of difference?
i started watching game of thrones and it has become my fav tv show in a long time.
i may even read the novels.
i love fantasy novels and movies, i always tried not to like them and felt bad when a new book came out and always gave in and read it lol.
Best meme I've seen this week...
Photo of Cersei commenting, 'I thought she had three dragons'
and then a photo of Dany replying, 'I thought you had three children'
Ouch

At least John and the princess got together finally and made love
That's King in the North, and Mother of Dragons to you, serf. And that's Jon gettin' it on with his aunt...
not a peep about all victims, not even a prayer for them.
only pray for jws.
and who or what is jehovah's loving arm of support?
A total of 4,141 publishers are currently displaced from their homes
Who cares about the tens of thousands of others affected. Just 4,000 dubs are worth mentioning
We keep our brothers and sisters who are affected by this storm in our prayers
Screw the rest of humanity, pray for JWs only.
And people criticize Joel Osteen for being a tool...
it's being said all over social media that joel osteen hasn't opened his mega church for refuge during the storm, pictures are showing this area is not flooded.
i made a few comments myself saying that the jws only help their own in time of need but this god fearing man isn't helping anyone.. just what religion is he and his followers, i guess it's one of those non-denomination churches that collect a shitload of bucks to him and wife so he can afford the glamorous life, nothing new of course, i thought he was just a bit different than the others, fooled me..
I saw the photos of the streets around the arena, and yea, looks good comparatively speaking. But these arenas have levels below the street. It is possible that the lower levels below street level were flooded, making it dangerous to bring people into the building.
And then I heard later that they were going to open it. I don't know the actual facts, but I do know this -
Whether he opens his mega-church to the needy or not, doesn't matter - he's still a charlatan and a crook.
it's only a matter of time of course..... jw rumor mills will start up soon, with stories of how jws were "first on the scene" as the flood waters receded..... how the red cross and/or us national guard and/or doctors without borders and/or [you name it] were marveling at just how "organized" the jws are..... how zealous jws were pulling their trolleys thru ankle-deep water to "offer comfort" to victims, by giving them - sandwiches?
bottled water?
to offer them comfort by giving them 16 page "magazines" to read in their spare time..... so as the stories start to come in, you can "deposit" those little nuggets of bs here.. once collected, we'll wrap them in a pretty bow and flush them away where other instances of pure manure go..
My general contractor recently had a JW working in my home -- he was one of the worse tile/stone artisans I've ever had!
I told my GC not to send any JWs to my house - I don't trust them!
I've seen some shoddy JW tradesmen and contractors as well. But - I know some JWs who are excellent at their craft, and do quality work at a fair price, and would not hesitate to hire them to do work for me, should I need their expertise. Basically, they're the same as any other group, when it comes to trustworthiness, skill, and experience.
