Most ridiculous?
That we don't have to die. Yes, we could live forever.
Let that sink in... Live forever. Never die.
And to think we actually believed that shit
i remember an elder questioning a woman who had admitted to giving and receiving oral sex from her unbelieving mate.
he asked her the most intimate questions which clearly flustered her.
interestingly, she “confessed “ to the elders because her conscience bothered her.
Most ridiculous?
That we don't have to die. Yes, we could live forever.
Let that sink in... Live forever. Never die.
And to think we actually believed that shit
we hear a story regarding the life of thomas and emma.
she states that "when thomas and i first learnt that i was pregnant, we were both really shocked" she doesn't explain why they were both really shocked but it seems an odd reaction unless they were using the safest contraception invented or hadn't been told about the bird and the bees.two experiences that touched the heart of gb sanderson were as follows -.
in russia a jw was jailed for 6 months, the jailers did everything to try to undermine his faith, which included violence.
She states that "when Thomas and I first learnt that I was pregnant, we were both really shocked"
They know what causes that now...
ok.. we have often heard secret recordings online of jc hearings.
but, what i would like to know is if individuals are entitled to the right of officially recording their judicial hearings?.
supposing i was to attend a judicial committee and i explained up front that i would like to record the proceedings and then place a dictaphone on the table.
Forget recorders.... bring a lawyer.
page 16, par.
18 carefully follow the latest directions.. do we faithfully follow the latest directions that jehovah has given us?
if so, we will not rely on always doing things the way we have done them in the past.
Sister Slit-Skirt looks pretty hot.
I think there's some wife-envy goin' on in the WT illustration-station.
Please don't make me go to the JW website to see these photos. (hint hint, someone cut & paste the article and photos.. not just Sister Slit-Skirt. Curious to see the air guitarist as well)
roll call for the benefit of newbies and lurkers.
in one sentence tell why you left the org.
not 2 sentences.
607 vs 587 was the first crack that led to realizing the entire WT structure was being held up by a house of cards
last night's memorial talk in my cong went into graphic gruesome details about the torture of jesus and how the stake killed people.
i mean medical level graphic description!
step by step details of each injury and how it killed!
The speaker at the Memorial I attended relied more on emotional blackmail to make his point. Jehovah, and Jesus, went to all this trouble for you, you miserable little piss ants, in order that you might be saved. How do you repay that? You can't really, but you can show God that you appreciate his sacrifice (But it was Jesus who suffered BTW), by attending all the meetings, sharing in the service, supporting the worldwide work (read: give us money).
i hope i’m not imagining this but jace not been able to find the source.
even looked deeply into jwfacts site and still can’t find it.
basically the way i remember it was there was a article trying to explain away the “teeth and claws” from a tiger that alluded to it being a meat eater from the beginning.
Funny this came up... The Memorial speaker went into detail about how the lion and bear will learn to eat straw, animals will all be at peace in the New System. All those years growing up, hearing that baloney, and never analyzing it beyond, 'cool, I want a pet tiger'. Now, listening to a grown man talk about lions and sheep being friends, I was slightly amused that anything else he said could be taken seriously.
i see there has already been discussion over lloyd’s new book how to leave the jehovah's witnesses.
this includes discussion around his personality, motives and financial gains.
i have written a foreword for this book, because it is an important topic that has not been covered in such a complete format before.
Lloyd ... has a huge personality.
I think that's what helps him do what he does. It takes someone with a strong personality and a strong ego to take charge, and lead the way in a cause or movement. And people sometimes get rubbed the wrong way by strong personalities. But if there wasn't someone willing to put their face to a movement, it may remain an underground thing. Your website, JWFacts is the number one site to learn about JWs and WTS policies/doctrines. But in way, it is a low key approach. Lloyd took it to another level. And like him or not, it is paying dividends in exposing WT scandals.
Personally, I prefer the low key approach. Just the facts ma'am. But that's me, some people need a different style in order for it to make an impression on them.
Here's the real beauty about this 'controversy' if one wishes to call it that: We're free to discuss it. We're free to disagree. We're free to criticize. These are things that we could not do while trapped in the JW religion. And I think for some newly freed ones, it takes a while to handle that new freedom and learn to temper their zeal to freely speak with grace and decorum. Hell, I'm still learning.
Your opening post gave me something to think about and to reflect upon. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
so lloyd evans will shortly be releasing his new book how to leave the jehovah's witnesses.
i do enjoy his rebuttals and the stuff he manages to get hold of and leak.
but i'm struggling to understand what he could possibly write to merit a whole book.. all info on how to leave is right here on this forum.
Never felt the need to buy his first book, as by the time he was promoting it, I didn't need it. I have CofC, and that helped me as I was exiting.
And just as Ray Franz hoped to make a little money, and I didn't begrudge him, I don't really begrudge Evans. If he can find buyers, then good for him.
At the same time, I've never been a fan of professional activists - people who seem to make a living at being an activist, whether it's political, vegan, religious or haters of bro-country music. They seem to have found a cause that allows them to bitch and get paid. Maybe I'm just being a curmudgeon about it, maybe some of these folks do make a difference, but enough of these people come across as shills, that it tarnishes all of them to a degree.
so, as some of you will know myself and my husband are in the process of fading.
haven't been to a meeting since beginning of 2017. .
we weren't planning on going to the memorial, but last week my mother broke down and said that we have to go to the memorial even if it's the only meeting i go to this year.
I don't know your exact situation, but I've found that Memorials are so stressful for elders, with the preparations and everything else going on, they really don't have time to harass anyone. Other than some love bombing, I wouldn't worry about too much interaction with the elders, especially anything like being pulled into the back room for a talking to.
And if you felt comfortable that you wouldn't be bothered like that, then maybe you could go for your mom's sake. It's one hour, once a year.
I used to have anxiety attacks about going, but not anymore. And yes, I'm going. It's a compromise. One one hour meeting a year isn't going to kill me. And there's nothing they can say or do in that one hour that's going to make me go, 'oh my god.. I was wrong, I should come back before it's too late'. No, I am now immune to their cult tactics and BS doctrine. But, my situation isn't the same as yours or that guy's or that gal's, so what I do may not work for everyone. You have to weigh all the circumstances, and make a decision that you can live with.
