I had trouble getting it to translate. But thanks for the info. Maybe I'll try again if someone else doesn't come up with an easier way.

"They MUST Be Witnesses"
by minimus inhave you ever made that comment based upon your observations?

Large group of people dressed like they're going to a funeral in the 1950's, all huddled around a 4-door car. Carrying bookbags. Looking grim and pointing up and down the street.
Being in a McDonald's mid-morning Saturday and seeing a group aged from 4 to 84 dressed as described above.

JW's that tried to Blackball my Hubby in work , since D/A
by LyinEyes inmany of you know that my husband's work is fixing hail damage in cars, and that we have traveled for 10 years from colorado, texas, ok, kansas, etc.
but those mainly were his best contacts , and also all jw's in the business.. last summer one of our best contacts who lives in co, called to tell my husband that he had a hail storm hit that very day, and said that since he has d/a himself he will no longer work him.
i understand that some may not let their conscience do that being firm jw believers.

Witness business is bad business. The employees that I had were CRAPPY. Their work-ethic was CRAPPY, b/c I was a dub. I got ripped off $650.00 and couldn't take the weiner to court. Why? IT WOULD LOOK BAD FOR JEHOVAH'S ORGANIZATION. I was not the only person whom this guy ripped off.
Looking at it from the employee perspective:
When I was young, oh so many years ago, I did some part time work for JWs who owned their own businesses and my roommate at the time worked fulltime for more than one JW. I saw the shady, lying, cheating tactics used by some(not all) of these so-called brothers and made what has turned out to be a good decision; to never work for a witness. It's better to get a job in a real company, 1) you can use whatever legal means necessary if you're being cheated somehow 2) you don't have to look over your shoulder to see who's watching you and be nervous that you did somebody wrong and get hauled in front of the elders; and the most important reason(for me), you get paid what your worth. Witness business owners were notoriously cheap. They never paid what they should have. They felt they were doing you a favor by letting you work for them. One guy I worked for in construction was not bonded, no workman's comp, did not take out taxes, etc. It was a mess. I reitirate that not all were like that but there were enough that it left a impression on me and goes to show that "Jehovah's people" aren't any different than anyone else in the business world.

By extension, I benefit from the new covenant.
You may benefit from the covenant but unless you are in that covenant then Jesus is not your mediator, according the WTS. This shouldn't be so hard to see; you're either in the covenant or you're not. If you are, then Jesus is your mediator. If you're not, then he is not your mediator. That's from the F&DS. If you don't accept that then you are in opposition to God's channel. If you do accept it then Jesus is not your mediator. Can't have it both ways. So which is it?

I was'nt even allowed to watch the Andy Griffith show because it glorified drunkenness i.e: Otis Campbell.
To not watch the Andy Griffith show! I believe I would have rebelled at that point. Witnesses. They beat everything, you know that?

I would like to see that article. If true, it is disgusting and not worthy of intelligent peoples time. But let's be careful and not jump to conclusions. No one has posted or qouted the article as of yet. It doesn't help to start bashing when we don't have the proof yet.

What is funny, is they just don't get it!
by Sprocket ini wanted to pass on a recent experience i had.
my mother passed away a few months ago.
the funeral was poised to be a sensitive issue since, when i left the truth 4 years ago, none of my children (all adults and still active in their faith) have spoken to me.

First of all, my condolences on the loss of your mother. It is a hard thing to lose a parent.
My son asked me to step outside the hospital room, and proceeded to tell me it was nothing personal but if I continued in my 'state' he would have nothing to do with me.
How much more personal can it get?
I came to realize how shunning was anti-christian at hospitals and funerals where friends and family are dying and inter-action with DF'd relatives was necessary. I saw how DF'd ones were ignored, mistreated and thought to myself, "If Jesus was here, he would not treat such ones this way at this point in their life". How one can treat someone so thoughlessly and think they have God's approval proves the point of your subject line, "They just don't get it".

Why were 'LARGE GATHERINGS' bad?????????? when they sounded so good.
by BLISSISIGNORANCE inmy hubby and i were discussing this point the other day and having a giggle as we remembered the stress it caused some elders.. we got to thinking that there must have been some really good parties going on that we were not invited to because we never witnessed anything shocking or resembling debauchery.
we began to feel left out because the elders often did talks warning us about the dangers associated with 'large' gatherings, and they sounded like much more fun than the ones we had been too.. i mean, we went to parties where the elder organised bible characters celebrity heads, question and answer games based on bible events, no alcohol, and finishing up by 10pm.......(then we would go back to my place and have a good time).
we were invited to a 'large' group that met in someones house every sunday afternoon for 'kingdom melodies" sing-a-longs, but that was one large gathering we were never tempted to go to.. the elders' talks indicated that some people were having more fun than us.

- large amounts of alcohol consumed
- drunkeness
- immoral activity
- demonic music
- erotic dancing
- worldly dress
- bad language
- un-christian conduct
Sounds like fun to me. Let's go.
By the way, what determines, "worldly dress"? All clothes are designed by worldly people so aren't all clothes worldy? Some are more conservative than others but it is still worldly.

I've been to England, Scotland and Wales. I've also been to Ireland. Did not make it to Northern Ireland(they wouldn't let us take the rental car over the border). I loved all of it. Scotland was my favorite though. Edinborough was great. The Highlands were beautiful. In England I had to spend a day in Liverpool of course. Went to the roundabout on Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields(couldn't get in though) and the rebuilt Cavern. London is one of the top cities in the world. Glad I made it before they imposed the driving fee to drive into downtown. Even though I'm American, I got a thrill standing outside the Palace. To think of the Royalty and the history that place has.
As far as the people: All were friendly and accomodating to us foreigners. The Scottish loved us the most I think. They wanted to join us in the pubs and have a pint or two. The English were a little more proper(I guess that would be the best word). The Irish would be suspicious at first but then would warm up to us and we would buy each other pints. Over all everyone was friendly, treated us nice, welcomed us and hoped for us to come back. Coming from English/Scottish roots I have always had a soft place in my heart for them and I finally got to see those places in person.
