That sums it up quite nicely.
hi gang, .
i went to visit my parents last weekend, taking my lovely wife and her mother (who is visiting us from overseas and happens to be a sincere devout catholic and a wonderful person, and speaks almost no english).
recently my mother mentioned (via telephone) that she wished my father would buy a new computer (theirs is a vintage 1987 ibm ps/2 25 mhz) so at the last minute i decided to give them one of the old ones i have sitting around, complete with 17" monitor -- a kind of "peace offering".

did you ever notice how some guys ( because only males are allowed to do anything ) thought they were so cool just because they did mikes or were behind the magazine counter.
why did they feel this way and what else can you think of that in reality was kinda stupid but to these guys felt really important and special to do?
because you are behind satanus.
Get thee behind me, Satan....and push.

Did ya hear about the dyslexic agnostic who suffered from insomnia?
He laid awake at night wondering if there was a dog. (ba-dum-bump)

This is a much more fun cult than the WTS.
i was in exile (df'd) for a year and i found out upon my reinstatement that they weren't handing out new blood cards every year.
i was told that an announcement was made to hang on to your old one.. anybody know the story behind that?
am i wrong and they still hand them out?.
A couple of years ago a card was printed but never distributed that said "allogenic" on it. The elders were instructed to destroy the cards and tell the publishers to use their old one for another year....
I remember a little bit about that now. Seems like there was a bit of a struggle in Brooklyn over what was acceptable or not.
Can someone give us a little more info on what allogenic means and how it came to be included on the card and then the card rejected? I can't seem to search for older threads very well or I would try to look up the old thread on what happened.

Whatever my elderess Stefanie requires of me.
So this isn't so much the Church of Stefanie as it is the Cult of Stefainie. Now that's a cult I could handle.
I did a couple of Mikes once, though granted they werent in the same nightYa know, I don't think I'd have been surprised if you had said they were in the same night. J/K

she was asked to hand over her bloodcard.
Is that standard operating procedure?? I think I would be inclined to decline their request if they asked for anything back from me.

Running the mics was the best. I didn't want to do literature/magazine counter stuff. That meant working when everybody else was socializing.
But, mics....that was cool. You got to stand up and walk around during the meetings. You didn't have to pretend to pay attention. You just had to know people's names enough to get to them with the mic. You stood in the back and talked with the other mic carrier during the reading of the paragraph and nobody knew because they were all in front of you paying attention. You got to look down sister's dresses when you stood over them with the mic.
The next best job was doing the sound. Got to play tapes or CDs(sorry as they were tho). You got to tweak the sound on the roving mics, pretending it was an all important job(didn't want to be embarrassed by feedback, ya know). You could goof off and no one could really tell, because you were behind the counter with the sound equipment, so everyone thought you were hard at work.
