I hope somebody would be kind enough to let me know if my posts show up with that same shadow note. Apparently the poster doesn't see that shadow?

Was God in this disaster?
by bikerchic ini got this in my email and thought i would pass it along.
i know many of us are struggling with so many issues involving god and the bad things that happen.
for me this recent tsunami disaster was over the top, i'm beyond understanding and i'm not going to say this article helped me understand any better but it did show me that x-jw's aren't the only ones who struggle with such questions.

Only One Religion's WebSite Ignores the Desaster in South Asia
by GermanXJW into whatever religion's website you surf, all have a comment on the tsunami in south asia: be it catholic, protestant, adventist, mormon, new apostolic or whatever.
they try to give comfort and encourage people to donate for the suffering people there.
but if you go to http://www.watchtower.org or http://www.jw-media.org there is no mention of it (at least by now).

Very good catch
I went to official websites of several religions, including Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists along with the more mainstream religions. They all mention the disaster and/or their relief campaign/funds. I then went to the official JW site and the JW-media site. Neither one mention it at all.
A catastrophe of this magnitude and most of the world puts aside their differences to come together to offer aid and comfort. The churches, who like to toot their horn of charitableness are there doing their part...except for the JWs. No mention of it, no relief fund effort, nothing. It's as if nothing happened.
While this is not a significant scandal or doctrinal issue, the "head stuck in the sand" attitude shows the true colors of the this organization. It's all about them and no one else. They really are the center of their own universe.

No one even dares think that these people chose to live in the area of the world that they did. An area ALREADY known for this type of seismic activity. For instance, many people move to Florida every day. Florida is known for catastropic winds that destroy dwellings and other structures. Yet people still arrogantly move here for the beaches, sun, and various other attractions. It does not mean that it is a safe area. Jehovah God tried to direct his people to the Promised Land. Not many hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, mudslides, tornadoes, or volcanoes erupt in that area.
Most people in the world do NOT choose the area of the world where they live. They were born there and they live there. According to your logic people who were born in areas that are prone to natural disasters are to be blamed when they suffer or die due to a natural disaster.
Maybe you were born into a rich family and can live where ever you choose, but most people can't just up and move to a "safer" area. What do you propose? That all 6 billion of earth's inhabitants move to the "promised land"?Anybody remember when the evil American empire murdered more than half a million people with two radioactive nuclear weapons of mass destruction? Hiroshima and Nagasaki come to mind. There is absolutely no excuse for that kind of death that was both unwarranted and undeserved. And if anyone tries to say that it was a return for the bombing of Pearl Harbor and say that it was justified is sick. Pearl Harbor was just a military base too close to Japan... That is why Japan felt threatened and bombed it.. What does the evil American empire do in return? Murder civilians in citys with atomic weapons... Sick.... really sick..
That statement is so stupid I'm not sure that I want to lower myself to this level, but here goes: Man does bring some of his own troubles against himself, but what the hell does Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima have to do with anything? This was a natural disaster that had nothing to do with war, the economy, environmental issues or even God.
And, we should be rejoicing if we really believe in God Almighty since all of these dead are hopefully in his memory. If they were to grow up to be evil, they are spared from the destruction they would receive later anyway... Wake up people...
I thought the last statement was stupid but this one is just astounding. I can't believe that someone actually has the gall to even say this.
"Let's all rejoice everybody....120,000 people just died."
You mean you enjoyed watching the news and seeing the catastrophe unfold? You think it's good news that this happened? You think that thousands of orphans and widows and widowers are a good thing? You think that the dead are better off because they might "grow up to be evil"?
You are one sick bastard. -

Well there have been quotes through the publications that they do NOT claim to be speaking directly from God. So I am not sure abou thtat argument.
Yea? What about these quotes:
*** Revelation -- It's Grand Climax At Hand (book) 1988 pp.54 chap.10 Abhorring the "Deep Things of Satan" ***
22 Finally, Jesus declares: "Let the one who has an ear hear what the spirit says to the congregations." (Revelation 2:29) For the fourth time, Jesus here repeats this rousing refrain, and it will conclude all three messages yet to come. Do you have that responsive ear? Then keep listening intently as God, by his spirit, continues to provide counsel through his channel.
*** Watchtower 1983 February 15 p.12 You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth-But How? ***
A third requirement is that we be associated with God's channel, his organization. ? Jehovah is using only one organization today to accomplish his will. To receive everlasting life in the earthly Paradise we must identify that organization and serve God as part of it.
*** Watchtower 1981 December 1 p.27 The Path of the Righteous Does Keep Getting Brighter ***
Jehovah God has also provided his visible organization, his "faithful and discreet slave," made up of spirit-anointed ones ... Unless we are in touch with this channel of communication that God is using, we will not progress along the road to life, no matter how much Bible reading we do.
I could go on...

Welcome Dustin.
Many of us here have similar experiences and can empathize with you. This is a great place to vent, learn or meet others who understand our predicament.
Time heals a lot of wounds and even though we may never forget completely the years we wasted with the JWs, we can learn to cope and put away the anger and bitterness and learn to live as normal a life as possible.
Good luck on your new freedom.
