Elders and former elders: Judicial cases how often?

how many judicial cases did you serve on, in how many years as an elder?

feel free to talk about the cases too..

I personally upon the time I steped away was on 9. The congretgation had close to twenty cases. The funny thing is I knew of a number of people who should have had one formed but - I didn't feel like harassing people who were already depressed and trying to make it day to day.

It seemed that our circuit overseer was hellbent on getting them resolved quickly but we just could not because poeple kept doing things that are juducial committee material and not knowing it at the time.

We had 3 committees for people looking at porn. Two were for masturbators who felt guilty. Foul Language, drinking and marijuana. Smoking the list goes on.

These were issues that they could have resolved themselves so I said, "Look just go home and opray for Jehovah to help you... unfortnately they still felt they needed the elders to help them.

One mentioned that I told them to just pray about it and then the CO went off on me.

I laughed and walked out, moved to another hall and stopped serving.

The committees will continue

Well, the latest update on the letter they found in his home he says that he was abused by his parents and raped by his Uncle.

No words on wether his parents physically or sexually abused him, but the rape was by an uncle.

This story is so so so sad. When your life starts of on a bad note you tend to spread your pain onto others :(

Let me clarify. My father who is now 74 told me when they stopped printing the book the reason was because the writing of it was done by someone who turned evil slave and they recieved instructions to get rid of it for that reason.

Maybe it was his old age or a solo C.O., but that was what I was told.

The commentary on the letter of James was the book that the WTBTS told all of its members to get rid of.

They never told them that it was written by an individual who they labelled an apostate.

The interesting thing about this publication is it is one of the only books written by the WTBTS that wasn't full of hate speech and scary doctrine.

it was actually a very loving and well thought out publication that was a joy to read IN COMPARISON to the other items they released.

it all seems so playful and cutsie wootsie to an insider i suppose, i am seeing posts all over facebook about how this is just what my kid needs.. this is truly proper food at the proper time blah blah blah blomit blomit vomit vomit... the funniest part is however is that it cuts out at the end by saying "let's practice what you are going to say".. .

why not make the video longer and discuss how you can get an idea for a 6 year old on how to talk to a grown person about how they are going to die unless you study the bible with me..

That was some funny S*** right there.

I remember they said comic books were bad because of the violence and fascination with magic and super powers.

Here you have a video with magic items appearing.

Or maybe a connect the dot where if you do things right you see a soldier hack a baby in half or maybe a women getting bust in the head with a ball of fire while she is turned into a pile of salt.

The same issue is talking about children throwing tantrums and they never mention the scripture about the rod... When I was a child they used that scripture in every single passage referring to children. That scripture resulted in me getting hit with extension cords / plungers / books an dthe like. Now they are just encouraging holding the child. One bad aspect as well they said if your child has a tantrum put them in a room where they can be controlled by themselves... it is obvious they have no sense

Jehovah's Witnesses - The religion for the lazy zealot

after taking a few steps back and really taking a look at the really zealous people and fairly intelligent people i knew in the j.w.

community and adding myself into this lump of people i realized something.

for anyone who wants to be seen as a very religious person - completely dedicated to god(or atleast give that impression to onlookers), this is the perfect religion.. .

For anyone who wants to be seen as a very religious person - completely dedicated to GOD(or atleast give that impression to onlookers), this is the perfect religion.

It allows you to be extremely dogmatic and zealous about something, with the appearnace that you know what you are talking about. You have an answer (although often incorrect) to every question asked of you and you have it all figured out. The best part is... IT IS ALL SPOONFED TO YOU AND YOU NEVER have to truly search for truth.

You are told what to believe in a magazine reasearched by someone else.

If a life altering decision needs to be made, instead of actually thinking about how it will effect you and the ones you love you can blindly make the generic decision you have been told to make. This relieves you of responsibilty and everyone in your church will think it is the best move you could have made - even if it ultimately leads to your death.

Upon beginnning to wake up I noticed many people of various faiths spend nights at the library or ordering books trying to convince themselves of what is right based on what they know about god. JW's just mindlessly follow the rules of people they never met and if they know something isnt right they just do it anyway

please help me to understand how you address this.. from the creation of adam to the birth of noah was about 900 to 1000 years.

during this period literally only a handful of people worshipped the true god.

then came the flood - at which point there were only 8 faithful people the world over.. .

The thinking hurts sooo much... a friend of mine who is of Korean descent asked me why I would possibly believe that in just 5 or 6 thousand years one guys family could produce 7 billion people so fast? I was like man... anything is possible with GOD. But when you try to do the Math and realize its kind of hard to fathom what that must have been like it really brings you back to reality
