nightmare about saran wrapped roast beef

just had a flashback of my mother forcing me to eat a rotten roast beef sandwich at the district convention.. i remember her telling me jehovah would not provide us with bad food and how ungrateful i was.

she literally told me if i wasted jehovahs provisions she would "slap my face off"..... for the love of god a roast beef sandwich sitting out in the hot yankee stadium sun all day... i really wonder what could cause someone to be so insane.

How to use disfellowshipping as a way to bring them to the light

so after i stepped down and began to be the cynical young angry ex-elder in the hall a few brothers decided to have a surprise shepherding call.. they asked me what had me down, i said nothing.

then one brother says, "i think you are forgetting what makes us so special in the first place... we obey god as ruler... rather then men.

SO after I stepped down and began to be the cynical young angry ex-elder in the hall a few brothers decided to have a surprise shepherding call.

They asked me what had me down, I said nothing. I am actually very happy right now. Then one brother says, "I think you are forgetting what makes us so special in the first place... we obey GOD as ruler... rather then men. " He said it in that elder tone that I use to use when driving home a point. He went on to explain that other groups set aside GODS laws in order to abide by HUMAN thoughts and LAWS.

So I said, You really think we are special and that we do that?" Then I began to give him an illustration.

let's say my 13 year old son got baptized and then got disfellowshipped. Would I have to totally desert him. The elder says, "Of course, not! We lovingly understand that doing that to a minor would bring great trouble in the family. As well as cause legal trouble. The way we handle disfellowshipping for younger ones is far more loving..."

So i said, "Nowhere in the bible does it show we should defferentiate for a minor. As a matter of fact the term minor is in place by governments. JEHOVAH CALLED DOWN A SHEBEAR TO DESTROY 8 and 9 year old kids for disrespecting his prophets. Jehovah is consistent.

However disfellowshipping which isnt truly biblical anyway has conditions based upon the laws of man not because of love but because we are scared of the legal ramifications... brother we arent really different are we????

Jehovah put laws in place regardless of age... we use governmental terms to decide how we will operate in the congregation... just like any other church.

The younger elder kept at it... the older brother who I served with just kept looking at me with an empty gaze shaking his head yes as I explained it... I thnk he gets it!

Are Elders waking up to TTATT?

the obvious answer to that is: yes!

jwn has a number of former elders who awakened to ttatt while they held their position, and a handful of current elders who help provide needed intel.. .

later, i learned he and his wife had faded, and both of his grown sons know ttatt as well.. .

I am a recent elder who stepped aside... it wasnt the truth about the truth that caused me to step aside. I just felt that there was no way in the world I could sit in front of a 50 year old man crying to me because he watched some porn 6 or 7 times and then telling him we would remove his previledges that he worked years to get. I asked him did he asked God for forgivenee said yes and that he felt so much better and relieved...

Yet he was crying because now he has to wait for us 3 bozo's to apparently deliver the punishment god wants... I thought to myself, "Why can't we just ask god for forgiveness... then move on?" That is when it hit me that something just isn't right.

Then all of a sudden everything else started happening as I mentioned in other threads about actually analyzing what we believe. So I think for most elders who leave it is because they realize they are in no way capable of deciding how someones life should turn out

Why would anyone ask me to give a substitute talk

so last night we had the theocratic school.

i recently stepped aside from being an elder and i have been mentally gone for awhile now.. no one has talked to me or my wife and kids and i have been very brief with everyone.

hwever, out of the blue lastnight during the theocratic school the school overseers assistant came to me during the bible reading and asked me if i could give a last minute substitute talk.... .

They use the bible but genrally speaking in a 21 paragraph hour long study they read 3 scriptures and the funny thing is NOW IN THE WATCHTOWER. They label in bold what scriptures they want read to the congregation. It is very weird.

For instance it will say: blah blah blah. (Read Isaiah 31:4,5)

There just really is no emphasis on the fact that we should be using a bible as our main study material. It all seems like an afterthought

The funny thing is the friends actually enjoyed the talk although they did notice I purposely ignored the time.

One older brother about 70 years old said, it is so nice to actually see you use the bible. It reminds me of when we use to use the bible more.

THe bad thing is that the latest generation really feels no need to use the bible because they have millions of books to read.

It reminds me of my wife saying to me, "Why do we have 21 paragraphs to study at the watchtower but we only read 3 scriptures?" Touche'

@Lois - Thanks. I have to admit I care about alot of the people who actually stay in. I always tried my best to help people but I realized something very very scary that I am sure most of you already know. It is near impossible for a 3rd gen to leave because it will gravely affect those around you.

I dont care about not having friends and neither does my wife... my children are 8 and 5 and they really really really like it. My Brother and sister are both in and all of their kids. As witnesses we never associated with worldly family so my 40 plus cousins I onl know 2... my mother has been a pioneer for 42 years and my dad an elder for 38 and I know if they couldn't speak to me it would crush them.

Me on the other hand I can listen to this babble and leave and watch my movies and enjoy my life and not feel the least bit guilty. We still study only from the bible as a family so I don't mind still going.

The others I just hope they can understand they need to liberate their minds

So last night we had the theocratic school. I recently stepped aside from being an elder and I have been mentally gone for awhile now.

What the hell was he thinking...

I graciously said, "Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure". When he got back up front and let the school overseer know I saw an instant nervous feeling overtake him. So during talk number 2 he comes back to me and says are you sure you can handle it? I said, "suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure."

All the while I was thinking you just screwed up buddy. I gave a 9 minute speech only using the bible talking about the importance of developing a relationship with our father and taking in accurate knowledge by means of an indepth study of the BIBLE.

At one point I wanted to really go left with it... Instead I flaked out. Maybe next time

in 1976, my friend bruce price was in contact with jehovahs witnesses who had become disillusioned through the debacle with 1975. bruce was the leading voice among the sda ministry in working for jws.

at the time, i was a member of the sda church.

although i left them about 25 years ago, to this day bruce and i enjoy a strong and genuinely warm friendship.. so, in 1976 bruce invited me to a meeting with one of the jws who was leading the disquiet in his congregation in dandenong (victoria, australia).

Hey if disrespect my wife why cant I just pray to God for forgiveness, apologize to my wife and work through it.

What is the point of telling 3 guys about it who will in turn put your biz in the street
